No you can't. It's mainly serious magazines, with Just Justin (Bieber!!!!!) and Diary of a Couponer :rotfl:

Happy Chanukah Medterranean Mum. I'm interested that you're trying the recipes in this month's mag. Do tell us how they turn out esp. the courgette fritters.

Thanks Maman - the courgette fritters were quite good but I made a few changes -

I used mozzarella instead of feta (that's what I had in the fridge!)
I used ground cumin instead of cumin seeds
I used a heaped tsp of chilli flakes instead of the chopped fresh chilli - it was a bit much so I would reduce it next time
    I added a grated onion

I didn't squeeze out the liquid to start with but then it was really mushy so put everything into a sieve and it fried up a bit better.

The basic recipe is good and you could use any vegetables instead of the courgettes - corn, potatoes, cauliflower

Tonight I'm making the Herby Salmon Burgers & Chips from the little booklet. They are in the oven at the moment but I got 11 burgers out of the mixture. I'll post about them tomorrow.

I'll certainly be giving the fritters a go mm. I tried the pork with soy, ginger and honey from the SW mag tonight. DH loved it but I thought it was too much soy to honey. Obviously they were trying to make it low syn but I think it needed to be a bit sweeter. I'll adjust ingredients next time.

I'm going to try that bean chilli some time too. It would be useful to have in the freezer as a lunch standby.

Med Mum I'm not going to a class at the moment but I will do after Christmas. I know what you mean though I weigh myself most days which I know is not the way to go. It's weather I can cope not weighing myself until mid Jan:eek:

  • Yep that's me too Julie67 - got on again this morning but only down another 100g - better than being up I suppose.

Maman - I made the Salmon Burgers and Chips last night - chips were excellent!! The burgers were a little too dry and I got 11 burgers for the mixture. I think next time I'll add an extra egg and probably reduce the salmon quantity. It was only my hubby and me for dinner as the kids went out so we only used 4 of them which means that I have lunch for several days now in the freezer!

Tonight I'm going to make the Sweet & Sour Pork with Noodles but I'll be using chicken thighs instead of the pork as I don't eat pork.

  • Well, as I can't get to a group this week or next, I had a little home weigh in this morning and it looks like a 1.5 gain for the week, which I'm totally happy with. If I can restrain myself to another 1.5 this week I know I can get rid of the 3 by my weigh in, which I would LOVE! I really admire everyone sticking with it so much! Like saidin said, knowing I can't get I group sends me a little crazy lol

Real life took over last night and I ate bread. We were at friends and didn't get in until 8.30 and DH was making sandwiches. I have not had any since last week and sure enough awful stomach ache so back to no bread again today.
Not planned my meals yet today. It's so difficult when your not in your usual routine, but will plan in a sec and come back and post.
I am desperate to weigh myself aargh must get that battery.

You can have bread as your HEB - I can't live without bread either and have 2 slices of w/m bread as my HEB every day.
