Afternoon all, just surfaced enough to post here. Had a really bad night, sore throat, temperature generally feeling blergh..... now schools finished.

Isn't that just typical tie, why can't you be ill in school time:rotfl:

    Afternoon all,

Can I come back and join you. I always read but as I have just not been on plan at all didn't feel I could post.:o

My son gets married is Australia next Christmas so I want to be at goal by then or near enough.

Good luck Julie, what a fantastic goal to have. Stick with us and you'll be sylph like for the wedding!;)
So here's hoping that I can really get to grips with this this time around. I can get most things over here but not everything so I'll be asking what I can substitute with sometimes and for help with syn values too. I have a huge amount to lose so here's hoping I can join some of you big losers before too long.

Where are you Mediterranean Mum (just out of nosiness you understand:)). Just ask and we'll all help if we can. This is a lovely, supportive thread.

I've been partly on plan today. All syns are planned for so keeping well in touch. I did spring rolls for a snacky lunch while watching footy on tv. Tonight we're having lamb (shoulder) without all visible fat removed and it's stuffed and with real gravy:drool:. Back on plan 100% tomorrow.

    EE today:
B: NAS squash, fried egg, HEB toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, HEA milk for teas
L: vegetable (full of SFs:D) spring rolls
D: lamb, SW roasties and parsnips, carrots, cabbage, gravy and stuffing

Thanks Maman for the welcome. My lot have just finished watching the footie here - murder in our house as hubby is a QPR fan and son is a ManU fan!

I digress! Can you tell me how to make spring rolls SW friendly please.

I cant stop eating treats!! How are you all coping with the festive foods?

I read an article in the paper today that said the festive food frolics (runs off to check article) could lead to weight gains of up to 7 lbs by the New Year.

I want to have the best xmas (food wise) I can. I have struggled all year SW wise and this isn't exactly the best time to be getting my :A out but I shall be making sensible choices and when I'm in control of my meals, making them as SW friendly as possible. I haven't bought any of my usual treats because if it isn't there, I can't have it!

I shall be going to class between xmas and the New Year and I shall also be taking time out to plan some menus and look at the orange pages of my book.

I am not going to drink like a fish every night and I need to make sure i don't get bored because as i have discovered today (OH away on festive trip), when I am on my lonesome, I find myself picking and planning poorly. eating meals at the wrong times (lunch too early etc) and then picking in the afternoon. I've had three HEBs today, a green lunch and a red tea with lots of syns! (oven chips?!) now i'm having my first sherry of the festive season (possibly my last?!)

*does a 'virtual' excited happy jump around the room*

After waiting all day yesterday - The courier from next has been this afternoon (on a SUNDAY when NEXT said they didn't do sunday deliveries!!)
He left my parcels with the next door Apartment......so I don't have to worry about My last few Xmas pressies now while I'm at Hospital tomorrow :D

Just celebrating with a mug of choc options & a penguin wafer ( really pushing the boat out eh!;):rotfl:)

FLAT ERIC I'm not buying any 'Xmas foodie treats in either this year, If I start buying tins of chocs etc then Its just going to end in disaster  Like you say...if its not in the house then you can't eat it:p;)

I am however doing flexidays Xmas/Boxing day as we are at SIL's - and I will enjoy a little of everything (withing reason;)) BUT I have promised myself NOT to even smell the baileys bottle!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Sorry MM, that's not possible. I was having spring rolls as a flexi treat (I've not eaten any in ages while getting to target). I have seen things like bhajis etc in the SW magazines made low syn but generally I avoid them.

I'd suggest you post your menus daily then we can comment if/when they need tweaking.

so now firmly back on the tank - and hoping i'll pull it back before my WI on tuesday am.

    red:
    b: melon
l: planning bread & tin fish
    d: made lamb stew
sn: will have mullerlight, apple & banana if needed.

    Proud mum :T

  • OK so I've had a good start to the day and have just been to our equivalent of WholeFoods and bought tons of veggies and other good things with one or two recipes in mind from this month's magazine.

B - frittata - a couple of handfuls of frozen mixed veg, 2 eggs, herbs, 42g mozzarella cheese
S - one orange, one persimmon, a handful of cherry tomatoes
L - tuna salad - leaves, cucumber, tomato, spring onions, hard boiled egg, tuna in water, beetroot, seasoning, balsamic vinegar, 1 tblspn light mayo

    planned for later -

    S - cherry tomatoes
D - homemade veg soup - courgettes, onions, pumpkin, sweet potato, stock, seasoning; tomato & basil risotto (this month's little booklet pg 38) with added mushrooms

I think the only syns are those in the mayo - correct me if I'm wrong and I look forward to having any other comments if I'm doing anything wrong.

    Morning All,

Thanks for the welcome Maman SYLPH like sounds wonderful:D

So yesterday planned my meals for today and had a large chicken salad for tea, did not do my usual snacking in front of the tv and even said no to a glass of wine when DH opened the bottle:A

    Todays menu

B Frittata and tea without sugar (going cold turkey)
    L Tuna pasta salad
D HM beefburgers SW wedges and beans
Not sure on sins yet but usually for me it is a piece of dark chocolate.

My bathroom scales have conked out so need a new battery but will try and not weigh until next Monday anyway. Don't think I will join a class as money is very tight at the mo, will see how it goes

Have a good SW day all

It's good to start on a shiny new week.

I succumbed to another piece of chocolate last night and ended up feeling very bloated. It's having it on the side staring at me that's doing it. I'm going to banish it out of sight and DH can go searching!!

I always feel preachy when I comment on menus but here goes!!

I'm assuming it's EE julie, and I'd say it might be a bit light on SFs. Potentially you have veg in the frittata and the pasta salad but none at dinner time (that's if they're baked beans). It's just my opinion but I wouldn't have WI on a Monday if I were you. I'd go for Friday then if you do any extra synning at the weekend you'll have a few days to play catch up. I suppose it depends on how your mind works.

That's right about the syns but you seem to be missing a HEA like bread or cereal? I do envy you snacking on tomatoes. I've found the ones here are just tasteless or bitter in the last few weeks, however much I pay for them! I've done all my weightloss by saving most syns for the weekends and maybe that's your plan too (especially this weekend) but you must remember to have your syns.

    My own EE menu:
B: NAS squash, HEB porage, HEA milk plus teas, banana
L: HM beef and vegetable stew
D: beef stir fry with loads of veg
Syns: none unless I have noodles instead of rice but it'll be minimal

Personally I find WI on a Monday works really well as it stops me going overboard at weekends. Then again, I'm a greedy lush normally :rotfl:.
