TIE if your eating biscuits and loosing all credit to you. i put on weight if i look at one

flat eric - you can turn it round now and have a good week :o

blackberry rum - do you still loose on an easygoing week? i am very jealous

the meal out last night was not bad - parsnip soup (prob syn for cream etc), turkey, carrots, parsnips and cranberry sauce (syn gravy etc) and i small scoop ice cream for pud (syn) resisted the mince pies after :o
i have been 100% all week so not sure how much 1 meal will show on the scales? seeing as i was 100% both weeks before and lost 1.5, then sts i am not expecting anything. (it is also * week)

    red today:
b: grapefruit, tangerine covered in a mandarin mullerlight yoghurt.
    l: 2 nimble & frylight egg.
d: planning simply cook turkey basted joint - prob with carrots & gravy.

have to go shopping today as running out of fruit/veg. mullerlights i'm fine for as i bought 24 when they were on 12 for £3 :D

Morning everyone. Was very tempted by goodies last night, but resisted! Go me.

Just done Level 1 day 9 of 30 Day Shred. FINALLY got throught the whole routine, although I do girls push ups and my side lunge/front raises were distinctly pathetic by the end lol. I'm scared of level 2!

Had fruit for breakfast, lunch is still up in the air but I'm planning beef in gravy with veg for dinner.

    Happy losing :)

Can stress effect weight loss or cause weight gain? If so I'm surprised it wasn't half a stone! T

"There are several ways in which stress can contribute to weight gain. One has to do with cortisol, a stress hormone. When we’re under stress, the fight or flight response is triggered in our bodies, leading to the release of various hormones.
Whether we're stressed because of constant, crazy demands at work or we're really in danger, our bodies respond like we're about to be harmed and need to fight for our lives (or run like heck). To answer this need, we experience a burst of energy, shifts in metabolism and blood flow, and other changes.

If you remain in this state for a prolonged amount of time due to chronic stress, your health becomes at risk. Aside from a host of other dangers, chronic stress can also cause weight gain............Too much cortisol can slow your metabolism, causing more weight gain than you would normally experience." http://stress.about.com/od/stresshealth/a/weightgain.htm

    Hello :A

Can I creep in here sheepishly? I have been following Pro Points on Weight Watchers loosely for about a year. I have gained nearly a stone in that time. I can no longer pretend that I am following any sort of diet other than the "See-food" diet :) Actually in all honest, I eat a piece of toast, a sandwich, a banana and a small portion of evening meal plus an unhealthy snack in the evening. Although the unhealthy snack could go, I'm not sure how else I can cut my food intake down without keeling over.

I'm dreading Christmas mainly because I can't face the fact there will be lots of food to eat and if I end up in the next stone bracket on New Years Day I think I might cry.

I have several food intolerances which mean I generally eat a lot of carbs and protein and zero fruit and veg. I can't eat any fibre nor spicy food or herbs. Bland food is where it is at!

I lost weight successfully on slimming world years ago under the red/green days. I want to give it another go but I'm not sure how the new days are all set up.

I was an online WW member and would like to sign up online for SW but until I'm sure the diet will be suitable for me (i.e. can eat a reasonable amount of food in any given day) I don't want to waste loads of money signing up to find it is not right for me.

I am not an exerciser, but I'm willing to give it a go if it starts off easy....

Does anyone know if there is an online trial that I can do to see if the diet is suitable? I have about 40lb to lose :o

I considered the on-line option as an alternative to going to class but knew that I would struggle without the support and that weekly step on the scales business. You mention that there are food stuffs you can't eat which strikes me that you wlould need the support of a group even more because there may be others in the same boat and everyone is always so very helpful with ideas.

Yes the SW plan is now based around Extra Easy and thats what will be explained to you when you join a class (not sure how it works online- guess they just send you the books). BUT there is no rule that says you have to do Extra Easy and if red/green days work for you then follow that plan. Indeed I still stick mainly to red and green and even do the occasional mix to match day.
If I remember correctly, the sw mag stills incorporates red and green days into its weekly menus that it features.

Thanks! I am absolutely petrified of going to a class. I went to a WW class three times and the people were not supportive and the leader was not nice either. It has really put me off, unless I can find a supportive soul to go with me :o I do think the group thing would work better for me so I will see what happens.

It is almost £60 to sign up online which is why I am dithering plus that doesn't even get you the books.

Thanks for the reply though I will see if I can find anything about extra easy online :) does that allow you to eat carbs and protein together? Also, do people have success with this plan in the same way that red/green worked?

don't do SW - look for something else.

i am limited to 10g fibre per day, and have major problems eating fruit and veg.....(its a nightmare isn't it)
you cannot do extra easy if you cannot eat 1/3 of your meal as fruit/veg. red/green its not so necessary but still advised as you need to fill up on that food.

i don't think SW suits people like us - even the red/green days. I lost 7lb in the first 6 weeks - then ate something that disagreed with me and had major bowel surgery and lost another 7lb.

i rejoined 6 weeks post -op. first week lost 1.5b, last week STS and am dreading this week. I stick to it 100% but it is not working for me sadly.

i have paid for 6 weeks - and after that will look for something more suited to the no fruit/veg situation.

if you want the books you can go to class just once to get them - its then about £10 to join and for the first class :o

Why not visit a class so that you can get the books. If you wait until the New Year, there are bound to be special offers and keep an eye on the weekly woman's magazines because usually there is a week's recipes plus a half price off joining fee. Then if you have any questions, you can ask away.

I have never been to a WW class but speaking for my SW class, they really are a lovely bunch and I have made some firm friends.

I'm not the best at explaining Extra Easy but its (as I understand it) 2/3 of your plate with red and green free food and 1/3 of your plate superfree. So yes you mix your potatoes and your meat on the same plate with no counting or measuring. The downside is that you are only allowed one Healthy A Option and one Healthy B Option.

The new SW mag will be out soon. I would pick that up and see what you think

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. I may join the class if it is only £10 to join and have a look at the books to see what I think. :)

Saidan - I can't explain to most people how difficult it is to eat healthily without being able to eat fruit and veg and fibre. Consequently I feel much better for not eating them, but cannot continue to pile the weight on :( Very frustrating.

Edit to Add: Are the healthy A's still food such as cheese and milk and the B's are brown bread, crispbread, branflakes etc (as per "the old days")? I'd be able to eat the A's not the B's if that were the case.

I can eat some veg, but not sure I could manage 1/3 of EVERY plate of food I ate per day...probably just the evening meal.
