Well the week has gone to pot and I am expecting nothing but a gain tomorrow *very frustrated* springs to mind.
I'm finding it hard to be motivated particularly with the temptations this month brings, the cold weather, being disorganised and trying to save money on my food bill at the same time.
It would be very easy to say SOD IT and think about SW in January but that will do me no favours.
How is everyone else planning on dealing with xmas. Its only one day?! but of course all the faff either side as well!
Can anyone offer any suggestions of warm easy to prepare and cheap foods to see me through the rest of the month ?? and particularly any coping strategies for xmas ?? Thanking you all kindly :j0 -
WI - 2lb off - am amazed tbh. maybe i should just stick to red days from now on....or do 5 red 2 green....
flat eric - i have been making loads of soups this week, just chucking veg in, adding hot water and a stock cube - and simmering for an hour or so. nice to have something hot - and its free food.
re xmas - i'm at MIL for a few days - so planning on just eating what she cooks - and avoiding things like the biscuit tin/choc tin.....not having all the extra's really. she's dieted all her life so i dare so she'll cater to my whims if i need her to
ooh cooking mama - those sound delish.....
maman - i was feeling very virtuous at an hour stroll around the woods with the kids on the weekend. puts me to shame!

Was wondering if anybody has tried the turkey sausages in Sainsbury's or ASDA? Are they any good - are they worth the syns (whatever they are - haven't looked them up yet)?
Any opinions welcome!

Well done losers :T
Oh woe is me, am full of a stinking cold nowhad sore throat all weekend and now this. Somebody up there hates me
just hope it doesn't turn to sinusitis like last time, that was soooo painful. I look like rudolph at the moment :rudolf:.
Cheap and warming food has got to be soups. My hubby went to local farm shop and got sacks of spuds, carrots & onions for less that £15, these will last us at least a month. Also got butternut squash £1 and onion squash 50p - bargin. Will be sick of soup come Christmas but at least its all free food. Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

It's an exercise DVD by the woman from the biggest loser, the US one. I find it REALLY hard! But more importantly, it's only 20 min long, tho you are meant to do it every day.
I just did level one day ten, so it's up to level two tomorrow
Haven't actually eaten much today, which isn't great"Empires are not brought down by outside forces, they are destroyed by weaknesses from within."0 -

Hi all,
Have not been posting as have been a bit busy but I've been reading when I can. Really sorry to hear about your MIL Dizzy, that's not nice to come home to after your holiday and before Christmas. At least she's not in pain - I have two friends, a Father and Son, who died from bowel cancer, it's scary how quickly it can progress. Hope everyone's OK.
TakeItEasy, you're due some good luck now, you really are. Hope things improve for you soon.
The festive whirlwind has started for me with a weekend consisting of a school mum's night out on Friday (lots of food and wine), a Christmas party on Saturday (lots of food and wine and champagne) and my son's birthday party on Sunday. (cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, rice Krispie buns and breadsticks - but I did include healthy sandwiches and virtuous crudites so that's something:D)
I've been pretty good yesterday and today so far but I think my stomach is still in party mode because I'm constantly hungry! I put on a lb last week so I'm dreading the weigh-in this week....
Saidan, Ammonite I really feel for you with your diet restrictions. It does seem to be built around fresh fruit/veg/fibre so it really just may not work for you. Which is a shame but there's no point ending up in hospital because of it! Anyway, I really do think there's far too much emphasis on the whole 5-a-day. Our ancestors ate what they could get ( and there's no way they could get that much variety in winter) and managed to get their nutrients whatever way they could. You may well be a candidate for a high-protein, high- unprocessed fat diet with small amounts of plant food. I've just read an article about the Inuit diet and it consisted mainly of protein/fat. Interestingly, they point out that even with a high-protein diet, you can only tolerate a certain percentage of protein (35%??) - you must get the rest of your calories from fat or carbs - hence the high fat necessity. It sounds like Atkins but it's different in that they didn't eat much processed fat and they ate loads more fish. Sorry for waffling but I just wanted to point out that the Mediterranean (oodles of veg and fruit) isn't the only way to eat. We're the biggest adapters in the world and you just need to find a diet that works for you.
