Heading for winter with Slimming World

That's good advice saidan. Most slow cooker recipes with a tomato based sauce or cooked in stock can easily be adapted to SW.
I parboil my SW chips in the morning and leave thm to cool. Then it's just a case of cooking them in the oven for about 30 minutes when I get in. Great with fish (also baked in oven) or gammon (grilled). I try to have HM chilli, bolognese and curry portions in the freezer so I just grab one out in the morning then you've only got your pasta or rice to do when you get in. Stir-fry is another very quick meal, I like to leave meat marinating, prepare veg in advance then it's really quick to cook (especially if you have noodles).
I'm not going to WI tomorrow as busy doing something else. Hopefully by next week I'll have balanced out all my meals out and still be within target range.0 -
thanks for the advice so far ladies, shall go to iceland this morning and get some meats as i have the veg0

Hi all,
I've been a bit up and down foodwise the last week. On Sunday I had made a big roast for family and guests and I didn't do slimming world roast potatoes:o.
Then went out for a family meal (birthday) during the week so threw in the towel at counting syns after my 3rd glass of wine!
However, was good the other five days and it seems to have worked so have lost another pound.
Today I'm following EE:
So far I've had breakfast of Bacon, Egg and Mushrooms - all free! Can't believe that...
Welcome to all the newbies and well done to the losers!
Went for a difficult hill-training run last night so feeling righteous and smug:D and might have a 2-finger Kit Kat and a cup of tea.
I always find mornings the worst for snack attacks.
For the lady looking for ideas for dinner -on the days that I work, I'll sometimes cook Jacket Potatoes the night before or earlier in the day and then reheat once I get home and fill with beans/cheese, Tuna/Mayonnaise or Chilli.
Slow cookers are great for the winter: This is a recipe I often use. I've used it for years before SW but I think it's quite low - you don't have to count the alcohol as it's all evaporated off during cooking.
1Kg lean diced casserole beef
300 mls Guinness
Carrots
Barley (is this free? If it isn't, leave it out but I like it in)
1 Onion or Leek chopped
1 clove Garlic
2tblsps Tomato Puree
pinch cayenne pepper
2 tsps flour (2syns?)
Fry Lite (or use 1tblsps oil as your HEB/6syns)
Salt and Pepper
Mix the beef, flour, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper until well mixed. Heat the oil/fry lite in a wide saute pan (with a lid) and brown the meat for a few minutes. Add the onion/leek and fry for a bit more. Add the garlic, tomato puree and around 150mls of water and mix well. Cover the pan and cook on a low heat for a few minutes.
Add the carrots to the slow cooker followed by the contents of the saute pan.
put the empty pan back on the heat and pour in the guinness. Bring to the boil, simmer for a minute and stir well to deglaze the pan and get all the bits off the bottom. Pour this liquid into the slow cooker and put it on Auto/Low or whatever you use.
go to work and come back to the delicious-smelling stew!

Bad weigh in - gained half a pound. It looked like it was going to be a pound but then the number fell back. Feel slightly fed up as I haven't been off plan this week, but perhaps it's previous weeks catching me up.0

NOOOOOoooooooooo (I'm going to cover my eyes, stuff my fingers in my ears and pretend you didn't write that:rotfl:)
I've also used the same recipe replacing the guiness with half a tin of tomatoes and mixed with the same volume of stock - so that version's free!

What have I done to deserve the sh*t that is my life? Not only have I lost my Dad and hubby his job we've now had our main bank account hacked and are so far overdrawn my wages won't make a dent.
I just don't know what to do, funerals tomorrow & don't know how I will cope. Can't see anyway out at the moment

That is awful - what have your bank said?
I know this might not help - but take a long bath & a cup of hot choc (or whatever you fancy) and bury yourself in a book - a funny one preferably (read one called Dear Coca Cola which had me LOL!)
Try to relax (i know easier said than done!)
Dodgy hug to cheer you up? :grouphug:
Chin up - it will get better - promise x0 -

Oh tie, you've certainly had more than your fair share lately. Hopefully the bank will be able to sort the hacking problem out for you PDQ. We'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Another odd day for me. Was out lunchtime and had some pea soup and a wholemealy looking (I think it may have been oatmeal) roll. There wasn't much choice where I was.
Breakfast fine; baked beans on toast
Dinner: liver & onions, mash and veg with probably a few gravy granules
I'm hanging on in there.0
