  • Hi there everyone. This is my very first post so not too sure how it all works!
Please may I join you all? I have gradually gained weight over the past 11 months, and now have gone from a loose size 12 to just about to leave a 14. I really feel uncomforatble in my clothes, and cant afford any new ones so have decided i MUST do something now, otherwise in another 11 months, I will be leaving another dress size :( I would like to lose a stone, and dont have the willpower to do this alone. So I would really appreciate a little friendly encouragement! Thank you all, and really well done you have all inspired me to start first thing in the morning!
:happyhear Not everyones cup of tea, but just right for me!! :coffee:

Evening all, welcome newbies. Pull up a seat on Dizzy's tank [although its on auto pilot as Dizzy's on her holibobs:D]

Have finally agreed with Bruv & Sis on the music for Dad's funeral. Just feel so relieved thats its all sorted and we can relax [as much as we can] before the big day. I am so chuffed with myself as I managed to download said music from youtube then burn it to disc. Took to Sis's and recorded onto tape all on my own :D:T:T. We didn't have the original cds and the crems equipment won't play copied cds but will play tapes hence all the faff.

Hubby made me more butternut squash soup which is gorjus :D and is making more tomorrow with added carrots as have loads. So food this week should be ok until Friday where there will be buffet food. I imagine there will be left overs so no doubt will carry over to the weekend.

    Food today:
    B - weetabix hot water/milk [a] coffee
    L - 2x wm rolls [2xb], lemon curd [3], fruit salad, activia
T - butternut squash & sweet potato soup [added onions, mushrooms, garlic, herbs] with handful of pasta mixed in.
    Snacks - 2x pears, 2 mini bread sticks [.5]
    Syns - 3.5

Oh and is that really true about tomato puree now being free? [never counted it anyway]
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
    Keep the Faith All

    Heartbroken 12.12.13

Got lots of carrots to use up tonight - they were on the turn last night so peeled them all & put in water - now need to decide what to do with them!

Also got butternut squash at home to use up - Any suggestions?

Hi Nessie, how about a big panful of carrot and butternut squash soup, do some onions in with it and perhaps tomato puree (good to hear it's free now, I've never synned it) or passata or just stock, and some spices would be nice now it's winter.

Hello HomeMum and welcome. Are you planning to go to a class to get the books, or do it online, or try to do it absolutely alone? tbh investing a tenner in one class and the books will really really help you, also read the very first post on this thread, from Consultant. Good luck!

thanks...my mum always says the same.....(she got her 4 stone award last nite...and like that....could loose the same again...and some have said to her...ohhh dont loose any more) she does say a lot of people can be very jealous too...

have you stayed around the size 12 mark then?

i said when i started, i dont care what weight i am, but i would like to b a size 14, now i am down to a 16, i would like to be a 12, its addictive, but i dont want or expect to get any smaller than that.

Yes, I'm still a size 12 but I'm only 5 ft 3 (and I weigh the same as Maman, who's 5 ft 9 :o). The 12s are kind of tight. Today I'm wearing a comfy size 12 M&S cashmere polo neck with a rather tight Banana Republic size 12 tweed mini skirt. My bottom half has always been bigger, proportion wise which is the bane of my life - would love to wear sexy straight dresses but they are always too big on my top half and too tight on my lower half. Anyway, not complaining as having been fluctuating between size 16 and 20 for about five years I've now kept it at a 12 for over a year. Although I'm not kidding myself - pounds have definitely gone on and that's why I'm here! Can't bear to go backwards again.

I think people forget too, what you looked like. I certainly do and so does my husband. I've got one of those rotating backgrounds on my laptop that puts up a different pic every five minutes from my photos; the other night we happened to be a looking and a pic came up from about six years ago at my fatherinlaw's 60th birthday party. I was HUGE - must have been at my biggest. My DH's jaw dropped nad he said, 'oh my god - is that you? I don't remember you ever being that big'. And yet he lived with me and saw me every day! :rotfl:

When I first lost the weight because I did it quickly, on Alizonne, the transformation was quite sudden and he said he felt quite thrown in the bedroom - like he was with a different woman and cheating on me! Quite freaked him out :rotfl:

People at group were talking about buying loads of veg when on offer and some said they chop the carrots up and put them in freezer. It makes sense as we can all buy frozen veg! Some blanche veg -- broc and caulis and then freeze them. I intend trying with big bag carrots got in T for 78p. You could try freezing the carrots:think:

Oh and learned that tomato puree is now free!!!

    Hold the fort!!

    Tomato puree is free???

Really :T that would open up a wealth of receipe ideas.

By the way, that pea and ham soup, though delicious, caused havoc with my (and my DH's) insides. Won't be making that again!

Thanks for confirming that annie. I've suspected as much for a long time as I always scour SW magazine recipes to find where the syns are and noticed some free ones with tomato puree in them.

Welcome homemum. Hope your first day is going well? Well done for taking control when you've only put a bit of weight on. I didn't do anything much 'til I was over 3 stones overweight.:o

Strangely enough it's worked the other way for me. I've been a small, size 12 for most of my adult life until the weight started creeping on recently. It's disappointed me that all the people who've been congratulating me on my weightloss (and telling me to stop) seem to have forgotten that I always used to be slim. But I know, and I'm happy to be back there.

I'm not going to post a menu today. I've had a SW breakfast but off out for lunch in a moment, the menu is yummy and I'm going to enjoy it! If I'm hungry later it will be a SW snack too.

I'll be re-joining the tank tomorrow, to get 2 good days in before the weekend.

It was a big bag from Mr T but i had left them on the worktop - still in plastic & they sweated & went icky so put my MSE hat on & peeled before they went off completely

I have got lots of pots at home which i need to parboil & freeze (10p reduced from ~ £2! - 5 packs!) make lovely SW wedges!

I made a soup in the end with some other left over veg (massive pot - filled my slow cooker which is about 2.5litres i think :o ) leftovers will be going in freezer!

    Recipe from SW site

This chunky warming winter soup is a great standby to have in your freezer over the festive season. It's perfect for feeding hungry carol singers or as a nourishing quick meal on Christmas Eve.

    ingredients

1 large onion, finely chopped (didn't use)
2 carrots, diced (2kg worth!) :rotfl:
    1 leek, finely chopped
1 medium parsnip, diced (used 2)
    2 garlic cloves, crushed
1136ml/2 pt stock made with Bovril or Vecon
    227g/8oz red lentils
1 x 397g/14oz can tomatoes with their juice
few sprigs of thyme and oregano (used dried)
    1 bay leaf (didn't use!)
salt and freshly ground black pepper
    2 tbsp finely chopped parsley

    Also added couple storks celery!

    method

    1. Put the onion, carrots, leek, parsnip and garlic in a large, heavy saucepan with 284ml/½ pint of the chicken stock. Cover the pan and bring to the boil. Continue boiling for 5-10 minutes, then uncover the pan, reduce the heat and simmer gently over a low heat for about 20 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and syrupy.
    2. Stir in the lentils and cook over a low heat gently for 2 minutes, then add the remaining stock, the canned tomatoes and herbs. Simmer gently for about 45 minutes, until the soup thickens and the flavours amalgamate.
    3. Season to taste, and remove the bay leaf and herb sprigs. If wished, cool thoroughly and freeze, then defrost and reheat at a later date. Serve hot, sprinkled with parsley.

I just chucked it all in slow cooker - woke up with it smelling lush - can't wait to try when i get home!

    Green day again today

B - Magic porridge with cherries (heb)
L - Batchelors Mac cheese (2) with carrot & canelinni beans
    D - Soup!
S - Pineapple, Fibre plus bar or scan bran (heb) cheese with scan bran? (hea) Milk in coffee!
