Welcome boysma, I'm sure if you focus you'll have pounds off by Christmas. That half stone is very do-able!

Look forward to seeing your menu tomorrow minus the bread and butter!;)

    Morning everyone

Thank you for the warm welcome guys. Menu today as follows minus bread & butter (at minute:p)

    B: 2 BOILED EGGS, BANANA
S: APPLE & ACTIVIA YOGHURT (THE CREAMY ONE SO 2.5 SYNS I THINK)
L: TINNED MACKEREL IN BRINE, TOMATOES, CUCUMBER, SMALL ORANGE
D: LAMB CHOPS, MASH, CABBAGE, CARROTS & ROASTED BABY TOMS

At the minute the only syns will be for the yoghurt but I will be having a cereal bar later after my tea - Alpen with fruit & nut & choc (7 syns I think from memory). HEA will be milk for my tea, I was going to have some ryvita with my lunch but would need butter for that:(

Weighed myself this morning and another half lb on:eek: so starting weight 10.13.5. Hoping this qualifies as an Extra Easy day. Any ideas, suggestions more than welcome :A
    Payment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j

    Boysma - welcome!
Use your syns for butter - that's what I do! Although for Ryvita I usually use cream cheese from my HEA allowance. I should use the light stuff and I do sometimes but I prefer full fat and it makes it more of a treat. As long as you're within your 15 syns you'll be fine.

I'm losing an steady average 1lb per week and I use them all - I've only another 7 -10 lbs to lose so I'm not going to get more than that! Also, cutting down on syns doesn't make a blind bit of difference. I think it's psychological in that if you have all your syns you don't eat quite so much free food if that makes sense?

I've been lurking and not posting due to mad amounts of work I'm doing but I've been keeping to the diet (I'm on the Online SW and doing the diary there).

TIE, sorry to hear about your loss, that's awful for you. Look after yourself. x

    Right, EE plan for today:

B: grilled Bacon, mushroom, tomatoes and fried egg (fry light)
L: HM Miso soup w Cabbage, mushrooms, noodles
    D: Pasta w tomato & veg sauce
Snacks: Ryvita (HEB) & Light Cream cheese, low fat yogurt, fruit, carrot sticks

WI for me is tomorrow so I'll see how damaging that glass of wine was last night;).

  • Morning all!

Had a pretty hectic week but have managed to get back to plan after a crazy few days for DD1's 21st birthday. The celebrations for said birthday had seen a gain of 3.5lbs over 2 weeks (PMT fairies were around as well!) but I lost 4.5lbs yesterday and am now only 2.5lbs off 5 stone!

No idea what we will eat today but DS's car is reapired so we should get to Morrison's at some point!

ahhh thanks....i have a long way to go...im around the half way mark...depending on what final target i go for..:o.i am really enjoying it tbh, i usually do extra easy...and i think its 2exactly what it says on the tin"....extra easy....tho i am doing 3 green days this week....as i am in suck a hurry after work to get out again...i will just b having beans n toast, or boiled eggs n toast, so i will need 2 HEX's

i love all the free food on EE...and i usually eat free all day, and save my syns for night time.:D
i find when i cut back on the syns....it doesnt help boost my losses...anyone else find this?

Totally agree that going without syns doesn't help at all. In fact I think it can make you miserable and disheartened and more likely to have a 's*d it' moment! I've had all my syns (105 a week) throughout and most of those are saved for weekends. I know it's not the 'official' way but it motivates me. It may be childlike but I like something to look forward to.

boysma, your menu looks fine on EE to me. I'd agree with wbb about the butter. If you'd feel really deprived without it then syn it. I find Extra Light Laughing Cows useful for Ryvita. It's so easy to count them without measuring so I sometimes split my HEA into milk and a couple of those. I'm also a Marmite lover so that's easy on Ryvitas.

I think you have to prioritise syns on a scale from 'what you absolutely can't be happy without' to those that you'd 'eat but then wonder why you wasted syns on them'. For me, wine comes at the top and probably biscuits at the bottom.

    My EE menu today:

B: NAS squash, fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: HM veg & lentil soup, toast, bowl of berries & Total
D: baked cod, SW chips, mushy peas and any SFs I can find lurking
    Syns: none
Snacks: may have to eat apples to push up SFs

I just love bubble & squeak. It's tasty, full of SFs, makes me feel very frugal and saves my HEB for another meal.

I don't have any special recipe, very similar to b-r in fact. I use any LO veg but I think it's best when mash and cabbage are in there. I generally put all the LOs in the saucepan I've done the mash in when I'm clearing up after supper. I give it a good stir/mash, season and then put it in a dish in the fridge ready for lunch. I just use fry-light in the frying pan to brown mine and serve with cold meat (if I have any) and pickled beetroot. I also sprinkle liberally with Worcestershire sauce or occasionally a bit of tabasco or a sprinkle of dried thyme. Sometimes I soften a chopped onion in the micro and stir that in too.

I read a recipe the other day where they suggested binding the mixture with an egg and frying some chopped bacon & spring onions in the pan before adding the veg. I'm going to try that soon, sounds delish.
SOunds good - do you make it into a patty or just put it in in chunks? I watched Jamie o make one ages ago but have never been able to find it since. I think B & S is regional as ive never tasted it :o Jamie made a divet in the top of his and popped it in the oven *drool*

You may like the hash browns - similar but i grate the potato once cooked and cooled, season well, make into patties and fry until crisp. I tried them today with spring onions (potatoes and spring onion = champ in Belfast) and they are scrummy.

I did wonder about binding those with an egg so may combine it all together to get some sort of bubbly squeaky hash brown :D

I made some gorgeous potatoes yesterday - spicy . Syn the sesame seeds, i think they are worth it for the texture . I use a teaspoon of each for one portion and half a teaspoon for sesame seeds so minimum syns. They really are tasty with some veg packed lentil dahl

Based on a madhur jaffrey recipe

    2lb (1 Kg) potatoes cooked & cooled
    Spray oil
    2 teaspoons whole cummin seeds
2 teaspoons black or brown mustard seeds
    2 Tablespoons sesame seeds
    1-2 teaspoons salt
1/8-1/2 teaspoon chilli powder, to taste
    1-2 Tablespoons lemon juice

    1) cut potatoes into 3/4" (2cm) dice
    2) heat oil (best done in a wok, but a large frying pan will do) put seeds in, as soon as they begin to pop add the potatoes, stir fry 5 minutes
    3) add salt chilli & lemon juice, stir fry for about 5 minutes or till heated through & the potatoes have some brown crusty bits on them

EDIT - i am also going to attempt making chicken in black bean sauce, the only syns i can see are a teaspoon of sugar . Also salt and chilli chicken - syns being flour and possibly white breadcrumbs (although i may go ultra healthy and try wholemeal bread )
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hey WBB, you're doing really well! Much better than me. I'm slooooooow. Also I'm confused. I thought tomorrow was our fourth weigh in but you've got four dates down already. Did you actually start a week before me?

Hi Sarahs! You're right - well spotted:D! I actually put my WI weight today because I realised I might not have time to weigh myself tomorrow morning before work (have to set up the Wii and refuse to get up earlier than I have to:rotfl:) - and might not have access to this site. I'm on-site on a hyper-secure system which might ban MSE.

I should be back to normal Weigh In thursday next week!
