Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum but not to SW. I joined in June 2011 and have lost 1st so far. I'm really struggling at the mo and need some inspiration.I only lose about a pound a week if I'm lucky as I can't do serious exercise due to arthritis.I do the EE pan.
My consultant says maybe I don't eat enough free/superfree, but I eat loads of fruit and veg like there's no tomorrow.
    Any advice please

Welcome! If I were you I really wouldn't worry about only losing 1lb a week, that's a steady amount and is almost FOUR STONE in a year. Stick at what you're doing and then have a rethink if you stop losing. x

Hi Can I join your merry gang? I lost three stones to get to target back in February and hoovered around the top end of my target for a while but went along to class last night and am now 11 pounds over my target. I know why, eating the usual suspects, drinking the usual suspects and generally being piggy.

But I AM going to lose that 11 pounds, and I AM going to lose it for Christmas.

Welcome, of course you can join us, the more the merrier!!!! You and me are in the same boat at the moment (I'm over target by 9 lb, well 11 if you count the 3 we're allowed).

Let's have a real good week and try to shift it eh? Good luck. x

hello tracey29. here is what I suggest...

First of all, we don't do guilt so stop beating yourself up and being upset. Have a read of this....

When you've eaten too much and can't write it down,
and you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in.
So what, you went over your syns a bit,
its your next move that counts....SO DON'T YOU QUIT!

It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now,
you can take on this challenge and beat it somehow".
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal,
your still gonna make it...just stay in control.

To stumble and fall is NOT a disgrace,
if you summon the will to get back in the race!
But, often, the strugglers, when losing their grip,
just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over......they still could have won!!

Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.

    Success is failure inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink,
    just refuse to submit.
If you bite it, you write it........BUT DONT YOU QUIT!!!!!!!

I don't know where this originated from but it often strikes a chord with me and author, please consider yourself duly noted :j

    Anyway here are my tips

Have a look at old food diaries, particularly those where you had good weight losses.

Weigh just once a week. find an old rucksack and each time you lose weight, put the appropriate amount (in tins) into the rucksack. Each time you gain, take the appropriate weight out. When you are feeling :(, put the bag on your back and walk round the house with it. Remind yourself how much extra weight you were carrying round.

What food do you enjoy the most and how can you make it fit with SW. lots of recipes can be made SW friendly by leaving out silly things like sunflower oil and replacing with fry light.

Each time you lose weight, reward yourself financially by saving for a snazzy top/dress/some new underwear.

Don't let one bad meal ruin the whole week. There are 21 meals in a week. One meal out or one bad tea isn't going to spoil the whole week.

Enjoy your syns. minimum I suggest of 5 a day.

PLENTY of variety. Plenty of food from the orange pages.

Play Superfree bingo. Type up all the superfree veg and fruit items found on the orange pages of your book and see how quickly you can cross them all off !

    Hi Flat Eric

I just wanted to say a great big thank you to you for your inspiration, you've given me some great ideas and I feel much more positive already, I've been shopping today and bought a few healthy 'free' foods to get me through the weekend and then over the weekend i'll put together a plan for next week and shop for it.

I've also copied and pasted the rhyme and saved it on my desktop (and phone which I don't go anywhere without!) so if ever i'm feeling low i can look at that.

Thank you again and thanks to everyone else for their help too.

I'm going to have a look at the recipes thread now and be more adventurous. My husband's pretty good at trying things and my 2 teenage children are getting better - they'll have 2 choices when it's put in front of them to eat it or go hungry.

Enough for now, i'm going to have a Muller Light toffee yogurt and look at the recipe section.

A great big thank you to you all :j

Hello all, I stayed the same AGAIN this week. My consultant was asking if I thought that I had set my target too low. I started off at 11st 5 lbs back in January 2008. I got to my target of 8 st 5 lb in ten months and was elated. Since then I have been up and down and up again and now weigh in at 9st 3 lb. She seems to think that because I haven't been able to stay at target it must have been too low. What do you good people think. I'm not sure myself. I can't say that I have been sticking to plan religiously but even when I do I don't lose. I am so frustrated I could cry. x
I think only you know what your target should be and when you've arrived at it (obviously your consultant can advise!) My consultant was spot on when I decided to reduce my target by another half stone, she kept asking if I wasn't being too ambitious - and sure enough it's been months now and I am a great maintainer but am really no nearer that new target and have decided to stop where I am - if for no other reason than the MSE reason: I have to get some wear out of all these new clothes. I am a size 10/12 and have loads of compliments and feel good about myself. If you feel good about yourself, settle down and don't beat yourself up, life's too short (unlike my sentences :rotfl:)

As everyone else has said, 1lb a week is a recommended weight loss if you want to keep it off. I never exercise and my weight loss averaged 1 lb a week until I reached my initial target, it's just fine. Are you eating plenty? Don't ever be hungry, that doesn't help. And drink loads of water to flush things through :D

Hi all, it's been a few days, oh what it is to have a (bit of a) social life eh? I decided not to go to class this week, or for the next few weeks, am going to try to maintain without class; all I do now is go to class, struggle to park, queue up for hours, get weighed, come home. Waste of travelling time and £5 :D I can spend that £5 on some more exotic fruit!
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Blackers THIS is your class and we don't charge a penny so very MSE, no trouble parking and no queueing either. Best of all no happy clapping [apart from this sort :T].
We'll keep you on the straight and narrow, I have been at [below] target for over a year now and if I can do it so can you. I maintain by losing and gaining the same lb week after week :rotfl:. The target sofa is VERY comfy so come on and join us, I'll budge up and you can have the warm bit :rotfl:.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
    Keep the Faith All

Minestrone, Tikka or Spicy Tomato are free on EE & Green but Creamy Cheese is 2 syns per pack. I'm not sure about other flavours as I've never tried them myself. Asda often has them on offer (4 for £2 at the moment).
