Thanks Flat Eric. A lot of people seem to be feeling down at the moment!! Maybe the weather??
(me included) My advice is to keep reading this forum and and not beating ourselves up.
  • I got stuck in a bit of a rut and found myself eating the same foods so decided that I was going to cook at least one new thing each week. Last week it was meatballs and this week has been roasted butternut squash and red pepper soup which was fantastic. I don't always strictly follow a SW recipe, but look at what I fancy and see how I can make my 'normal' food more SW friendly. I reckoned that this would feel less like a diet and more like an easy to adopt lifestyle change. So I didn't roast the veg for my soup in oil - used frylight. I had a curry tonight using a jar of sauce and put a load of veg in it which I wouldn't have done pre SW.

I think I have made some changes which I will be able continue permanently like including more fruit and veg in my diet. I don't always look for a cake or biscuit now if I feel a bit peckish, but will look for a piece of fruit. A plate of spag bol or similar goes down really well with a bit of salad on the side.
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013
  • The Pea and Ham soup recipe in the new soup book is as follows:
    480g frozen peas
    800ml vegetable stock
1 medium potato peeled and cut into small chunks
    1 onion diced
*put all of above in a pan, bring to boil then simmer until potato soft. When potato soft add 2 tbsp of fresh tarragon (I used freeze dried and it was fine) and blitz it with a hand blender*

Chop a good quality lean ham into small pieces (the recipe says 200g) and add it to the hot soup. Eat and enjoy! I've made a massive vat of this and put it in the fridge (I doubled the quantities), it's also freezable. I also substituted the ham for tesco's 'make a meal of it' gammon. It's free on extra easy and it feels more substantial and luxurious when you eat it. :)
  • Hello all, I stayed the same AGAIN this week. My consultant was asking if I thought that I had set my target too low. I started off at 11st 5 lbs back in January 2008. I got to my target of 8 st 5 lb in ten months and was elated. Since then I have been up and down and up again and now weigh in at 9st 3 lb. She seems to think that because I haven't been able to stay at target it must have been too low. What do you good people think. I'm not sure myself. I can't say that I have been sticking to plan religiously but even when I do I don't lose. I am so frustrated I could cry. x

Sorry to hear you're feeling like that confused:grouphug:
About your target, I think it depends on lots of things like: how tall you are, how you fit in the height/weight chart, whether you're happy with your dress size and whether you've ever been the target weight as an adult. Perhaps what you need advice on is how much you can stray from a strict plan after you reach target.

I'm still experimenting with what I can do (mostly lurching between flexi days and 'good' days). At the moment I have the incentive of a dress to get into for a wedding that fits beautifully when I'm at target. My long term plan is to eat SW all week and have a few treats at weekends as I thought the extra HE idea sounded boring. I have a list (mental at the moment) of treats I've gone without for a year and I'm planning a couple each week plus my full 70 syns. Good luck anyway and keep posting.

Eric, that was a very inspiring post, thank you. Tracey, my advice would have to be good planning so a meal plan plus associated food shopping and also a diary to find out where you're going wrong/what's going right - posting it here helps me. I don't know your circumstances but if at all possible don't buy things you shouldn't be eating.

A little late in the day but, my EE day:

B: NAS squash, HEB toast, fried egg, tomatoes mushrooms, HEA milk for teas
L: ham & salad sandwich, plum
D: liver & onion gravy with parsnip/potato mash, broccoli, caul, carrots
Syns: gravy granules, 2 sqs Lindt

WI for me tomorrow. I'm hoping to be back close to target after last week's holiday.

Stayed the same this week on my weigh in, which is not great given that it's only my third week on the plan, but I know from my daily weighing that I actually went up and then down again, due to many meals out and celebrations. To be honest I'm only just getting to grips with finding recipes that I like enough to return to. The speed soup is one of them though, and the pea and ham sounds lush, so I think it'll be a soup week next week. I also need to get syn values in my head for a few easily available snacks for when I'mout and about (like quavers, whcih I've just rediscovered!) as sometimes fruit doesn't hit the spot, especially if I've had a lot already that day. But anyway, onwards.

Had my WI this morning and I've lost the 2.5lbs I put on over recent weeks/holiday so I'm a happy bunny!:D I'm now just 0.5lb inside the lowest target range. So, I can afford a few treats but I'm well set up for the wedding and invitation to posh afternoon tea coming up in next couple of weeks.

sarahs999, we were shown a new SW soup recipe book this morning. I'm not trying to sell it but I though you might be interested. Personally I prefer to buy the magazine as I find the books are often compilations of magazine recipes over time.

    My EE menu for today:
B: NAS squash, HEB Puffed Wheat, plum, HEA milk for teas
L: bubble & squeak, pickled beetroot
D: beef stir fry with noodles and a big pile of veg
    Snacks: Last plum!!!
Syns: I think there's 0.5 syn in ready to wok noodles I've got and I might have a couple of squares of chocolate later, so nothing major.

Hi Can I join your merry gang? I lost three stones to get to target back in February and hoovered around the top end of my target for a while but went along to class last night and am now 11 pounds over my target. I know why, eating the usual suspects, drinking the usual suspects and generally being piggy.

But I AM going to lose that 11 pounds, and I AM going to lose it for Christmas.
