hEAR WAY OUT0 -
hello everyone.
i'm just looking for a bit of support for me and the hubby, we went slimming world back at the beginning of the year and hubby did fantastically (he lost a stone in 2 weeks) but for some unknown reason we stpped going and piled it all back on.
we cant afford to go back but need to lose weight again, we are part of a biggest loser competition with friends in america, we put in $5 until the 1st jan and the person to lose the biggest % of body weight in that time, if we win we stand to win $1000 (about £700) which would be fab. i know hubby stands a really good chnace of winning it but we need some more inspiration with regads to slimming world.
we know all the usual boring steamed veg and grilled meat etc. we have a very small food budget aweek (well small when you are trying to eat healthily lol) we have £50 for the 4 of us in a week. so any budget ideas would be great too.
one last question/favour if anyone has access to the syn values of things and i needed to find one out would you be able to help
thanks in advance and good luck with all your slimming world effrts0 -
Evening all, welcome mrshaz
Had a good, positive day today for once. Husband had some lovely fried Chinese foodand I made myself a chicken and herb risotto. Absolutely gorgeous
Good luck with mission ear Dizzy!"Empires are not brought down by outside forces, they are destroyed by weaknesses from within."0 -
Hi everyone,
Can I join? I've been going to slimming world now for 14 weeks. I've lost 14lbs after a lot of faffing- I seem to get to the point where everyone compliments me on weight loss and then I start cheating as though I've reached target (I haven't... I've still got 37lbs to go) which is really stupid. It would be nice to get inspiration from other members and plan followers to keep me on the straight and narrow!
I've set an ambitious target to lose 2lbs a week for the next 5 weeks- If I manage to do it I'll be at my lowest weight since 2001 just in time for my work Christmas party.
Mrshaz- do you like soup? I've just made a vat of pea and ham soup, free on extra easy for about £2.00 (using stock cupboard essentials as well). It'd easy serve 4 people/ freeze for dinners in work if you'd like the recipe? I've got it from the new soup book- it's honestly the nicest soup I've ever made.
Have a good day tomorrow everyone!0 -
And me. Especially this weekend. Wine/meals out and fat choices/more wine oh and home poured bailys!.So down now I am beginning to not care!!:(:(:( Need a big kick.
Consider yourself kicked Annie6, of course you care!!!
Have you something to aim for, like a Christmas party? I've got a wedding to go to in about 3 weeks and I'm determined not to look I've been squeezed into the dress I've bought.
Welcome teaandcakeordeath, I'd say the same to you about something special to aim for. What about another dress size? I think small targets work along the way like your 10lbs.
mrshaz, there are a lot more exciting and filling things you can eat rather than steamed veg and grilled meat. Green plans can be cheaper than EE or red as most carbs don't cost too much (like pasta and HM tomato sauce). Lots of us post our daily menus on here and there is a link to the recipe index in post 1 for ideas too. I don't spend a fortune on our food. Probably the most expensive things are frylight (although it lasts quite a while) and WW bread (my choice). If you can go to Lidl or Aldi the fruit and veg can be quite cheap as are their free range eggs and loads of other SW friendly foods. What sort of things do you like to eat?0 -
Oops Thanks TakeItEasy, I've sinned it now - I did think about it earlier but just forgot to put it in my post!
As for the Rye bread question earlier, this is a cheat of mine! I use one slice as a HEB as it has grains in it. It's homemade and I've calculated it to be around 5 syns which seems to be roughly equivalent or slightly less than a HEB.
I do the same with granary bread now thanks to MrsMs advice- I just don't like wholemeal!
It worked fine the last time I was on the SW wagon (even though I used 2x slices Rye instead of just one) so hopefully will this time!
Another thing, I'm on the online SW site and the HEB's include multigrain bread - any reason why the UK HEB's don't include it?
,
WBB
That's interesting to know, how much multigrain bread are you allowed as an HEB? I love it, the only bread that I feel is in some way good for me.

Morning All!
Just popping on to post my food plan:
B: Fruit Salad
L: SW ChilliMushroom Omelette, SW Sauateed Potatoes and Tomatoes
HEA: Milk in Coffee throughout the day
HEB: 2 x Alpen Light Bars
Snacks: Not got any planned as will be travelling most of the day,may buy some fruit from services if need be
It was comforting to read that others feel the same way i do about self sabotage. Next time i am trying to justify something to myself I will think of you and think what you would say to me if you knew what i was planning to eat (no telling off i hope just encouragement to stay on plan)!!!
Have a good day everyone xxx0 -
Morning All,
Can I join you. I joined SW last night so am right at the beginning. I did do SW years ago but I am really impressed with EE so that is the plan. I am initially aiming for a stone off for Christmas and then will have 2 and half more to go to goal.
I will probably need to ask lots of questions and plan to read through the whole thread when I get chance.
Am so excited to have found a thread dedicated to SW:j
I do have a question to start, I love weetabix but can't eat it without sugar. Would you just use sugar and count as sins or has anyone found a replacement that tastes ok. I have swapped to sweetners in my tea so this would be the only sugar I had. Thanks
Anyway my food today is
B Beans and bacon FF and crackerbread (HE) cup of tea
L Omlette with a few new potatoes
D Roast Chicken, SW Chips and Veg
Sins a Curly Wurly 7 sins and I am going to try and learn to like ML yoghurt even though its not my favourite.

 welcome julie. I just had to respond as I was in your position a year ago. I joined at the very end of September 2010 at exactly the same starting weight. I had lost just over a stone in the first 2 months so that is certainly do-able. I took a very scenic route. It's obvious from my record of STS or gains when I was on holiday!! I reached my target of 10st 7 lbs in early August. That's got me from a size 16 bordering on 18 (which is why I started SW) to a slim size 12. I am 5ft 9ins so that's light enough for me without looking scrawny.
In answer to your question, syns are a personal preference. Using them for chocolate is very common but people like me prefer to save them for wine!:o So, while I wouldn't personally 'waste' syns on sugar (I'm happy to have a sliced banana or berries on my cereal) if that would make a difference to you then go for it! I think if we make it too hard by feeling too deprived then we're more likely to give up.
Looking at your menu, you don't seem to have a HEA (milk, cheese) planned into your day. Also the only veg is with your dinner. For the EE plan you should have a third of all you eat in fruit and veg. I tend to cheat a bit and balance it through the day. You could have a salad with your omelette and some fruit as a mid morning snack. I tend not to buy salad leaves routinely in the winter but I do buy tomatoes and cucumber and fill up my plate with pickled beetroot.
Good luck!0 -
Today's a bit muddled again for me as I have to eat my main meal at lunchtime again. I'm down to the last 4 plums which I've had for almost 3 weeks and they're still not properly ripe:mad:
EE plan for today:
B: NAS squash, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: chicken, ham, bubble & squeak, pickled beetrootMarmite and tomato sandwich
Snacks: PLUMS!!!0
