  • Flutterby, I hope the Eppler technique works for you. I would've liked my gp to suggest it for me (having googled ahead of time!) but he just wanted me to take tabs for the rest of my life which I refuse to do as it clearly says that these dizzy spells can finish as fast as they started. Mine wore off after a couple more days but I also bought myself a funny hat from the Internet which you put on and lay flat and then move your head following this little marble in a straw (you need to see it!) and it's kind of doing the Eppler technique on yourself. It worked when I had another dizzy spell. Just thinking you might want to get one to take with you on your wonderful trip? I can happily PM you more info if you can't find it yourself.

Blackberry - Ooh that hat sounds interesting! Can you send me a link please? Thanks :A. Originally my Dr said there was nothing they could do, when I went back 2nd time after being sent home from work cos I fell over as I was so dizzy they gave me Stemil tablets, but they spaced me out so much. Third time was told still nothing, fourth time i pushed and got an ENT referral but the waiting list is 6mths so I wouldn't have been seen til Jan/Feb!! I came upon a specialist in Bronglais hospital who agreed to see me privately, and I had appt within a week!

On the SW front, I had HM curry instead of lasagne so that's 7syns making 11 in total

Quick post to share my menu for today. No more excuses or putting off till tomorrow. back on the sw wagon. At my heaviest since I joined. It can't continue.

    Breakfast
    Hi fi bar
Fruit salad (home made) red grapes, 1 x nectarine, 1 x orange, 2 x kiwis.

HEB of bread with jam (syns)

Lunch New Covent Garden soup - (this is too many syns ) but it needs eating and I need lunch. The syn value according to the calculator is 17.5  but I haven't allowed for any of the veg so I am hoping the syn value is actually less. I may have half today and half tomorrow which will reduce the syns...

Tea after my run tonight is sweet spuds with HEA of cheese and curry beans. (1.2 syn)

Snacks of Activia fat free yogurts (strawberry/raspberry). more fruit.

Have a good day all. :j
  • Good morning everyone!

Day one (again!:o) for me. Menu going something like this today:

    B: 2 egg omelette and a pear
L: Chicken Jambalaya. WW dessert yoghurt
D: Have to use up remaining chicken jambalaya. Don't usually have same thing twice in one day but at least its got loads of veg in!:D
    Snacks: Fruit. Ryvita mini's (HEXB)

Drinks: Couple of coffee's (HEXA - might have little bit of cheese to make up HEXA), as much water as a I can.

    Miss P
    xx

  • Hi everyone,

I tend to use my syns on alcohol - probably 2 drinks per day (god that sounds awful!).

I was wondering if anyone knows of anything "different" I can have that would contain no alcohol/syns? I like to have a drink early evening - its a habit that I need to break so I thought perhaps switching to a soft drink would be a good start!

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on what you drink I suppose ? I am a red wine girl but I also like malibu. I started buying those small bottles of wine (187ml) because then I could still have a glass of red but I was in control of my syns and once it was gone, it was gone - there was no pouring the wine from the bottle (or the box :D) without any thought to how much was going in the glass.

I think if you use a diet mixer then its possible to have a couple of spirit based alcoholic drinks without spending too many syns.

In the past when I have drunk vodka or malibu, I have put the mixer in first and then poured about 10 ml of said spirit into the glass. I have also stuck my finger in the spirit and rubbed it round the glass edge - so the taste of the drink without (all) the syns....

If you want to avoid alcohol altogether then a diet tonic with lots of ice and lemon slices / lime slices ? I don't think its possible to be too adventurous because the alchohol free cocktains you see advertised in pubs that you could copy typically involve different fruit juices so syns galore no doubt.

Couldn't you have a diet coke or similar? I too had to break the same habit myself months back, I used to feel if I didn't have a drink of a night I would never sleep! It was very rare I went a day without alcohol to be honest now I just drink when I go out, or if I have company. Took me about a week to stop thinking and missing it. I drink tea now of an evening, and a cadbury highlights hot choc before bed, and I never thought I would ever say it but I really don't miss it. It was mad the other week when I promised myself a few drinks when I was home alone watching the Big Brother evictions, and I actually FORGOT and it was about midnight when I thought, omg I was going to have a few drinks and didn't, that amazed me! I am a changed person since starting SW, it was the best £60 I ever spent!

I also wanted to say hello to everyone  I miss you all, I just don't get much time to come on anymore, my new man still taking up all my spare time, but I not complaining :D

My goal this year was to lose weight and find myself a man, and I literally found him the minute I lost my final pound in weight, how fab is that! My life is going good at the mo which never happens to me, so I am waiting for something to come along and spoil it!

I also wanted to say a big SORRY to TAKEITEASY on your sad news of your nephews baby, how awful xx
  • Afternoon, put on about 2.5 lbs but not really surprised as i've not a had a vegetable or a piece of fruit for about 3 days! Hoping a lot is water weight:o Just had a big bowl of veg soup, so nice after eating crap food for a few days!

  • Thanks for the great advice - I will try diet coke/tea (depending on how I feel). I would really love to break this habit because I feel that its my downfall and I only have a few pounds left to lose.

Perhaps I will find a nice new man too!!!!!!.. that would be nice!

    Thanks again.
