So unreasonable.
My guess is what has happened is this:
At some point something annoyed your neighbour - perhaps they stepped outside with no shoes on after a period of sunny weather and got their socks wet. This annoyed them a little but they didn't want to say anything.
From then on they have got a little more annoyed each time it's happened but did not want to say anything because they preferred a live and let live approach.
Now, for some reason they have said something and all the pent up annoyance has come out.
How you play it is up to you but, unless you know that your neighbours age generally grumpy and anti-social, I would guess that if you go around and apologise profusely they will soften their stance. The only danger with that approach is that if they don't you've lumbered yourself with acceding to their request.
But, quite honestly, although it would be preferable if they didn't, your neighbours have every right to ask you not to do something that interferes with their property, even if it does seem trivial to you. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

So could I ask them not to have BBQ's every night as the smoke interferes with my property. (Not that I would)
Its just petty0 -

You seem to have a bad attitude.
What you have to realise is that it isn't for you to decide what is upsetting for your neighbours.
Most of the problems with bad neighbours stems from one set thinking: "if they did that to me I wouldn't get annoyed therefore they shouldn't get annoyed when I do it to them".
They've now told you that your continually making their property wet is an annoyance and, unless you are some kind of inconsiderate chav, it's up to you to stop doing something that materially affects their property.
If they have a barbecue every night and it is materially affecting you in some way that is causing you genuine annoyance then of course you can mention it to them. Provided, obviously, that it is not just some pathetic tit for tat objection. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
OP, for a small fee I will ask my son to come round and help you wash your car next time you want to clean it.

I dont have a bad attitude. But it has upset me for certain reasons. No doubt if I mention them on here I will just get a lecture or trolling.
I am not after advice anyway. I was just venting0 -

I can understand you being upset but dismissing the objections of your neighbours is not a valid response.
Anyway, vent away and I hope you come to some reasonable resolution that keeps all parties happy. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I am trying to think of one. If it was nothing to do with my son. I would just take it to a garage. I only wash it on my drive because he likes it so much.0 -
Use a product from here http://www.go-waterless.co.uk/ then you have no need for water, you can wash it on the drive and everyone can live happily ever after0
