Things You Never Thought You Could Sell

  • Hi, I've not posted ...before but I do sell a lot on ebay and just wanted to add to this thread

I've sold about £5k of stuff that was just sat around the house over the last 3 years.

The biggest shocker for me was a year ago. I nearly binned them but thought "I wonder if they'll sell". I had 4 of those little memo/photo holders - the cubes with a metal rod coming out of them and a little clip on the top - put them on for 99p and there was a bidding war and they sold for over £40 to an American girl. I had to ask her why she had paid so much for them as I was baffled! Apparently she couldn't get any in the US and needed them for some model she was making for graduation!

I also sold a Dolly Parton biography that I bought (and read!) for 50p from a charity shop and I got £13 for it.

I've also found that new true crime books sell on ebay for more than I paid for them (from Amazon).

I always sell the vouchers that come through the post for reduced priced newspapers. Last lot I got a fiver for - every little bit helps!

My friends and family give me their stuff to sell now (I should charge commision!) I once sold a (new) toilet brush in its holder for £18 that you could buy new for a fiver from Asda. (it was my moms and she had bought it for bathroom and then decided on a different colour theme but had lost her receipt to return it)

I've got a box full of junk upstairs that I keep meaning to flog but didn't expect much for it - this thread is giving me more hope though.

The strangest thing I ever sold was at a car boot sale a few years ago. A bag of a few broken and damaged belts (that I was throwing away) got mixed in with the stuff I was taking to sell. These sold quicker than all the decent stuff! They weren't leather or suede even! Made a tenner alone from these broken belts I was going to put in the bin.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

  • A friend of mine put a greenhouse that he didn't want on ebay. It stated in the description that it was come and dismantle and take away yourself. It sold for over £40.

No effort required from him. And it saved him loads of trips to the tip or the price of skip hire!
