Can you link us to that new update to the rules TGroom57, I've not had an email to advise that change.

The chat agent seemed to think that this link covered it
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/sellinglimits.html#category

That's exactly what I'm saying. I tried to list a R.I. knitted hat last night and was told that was the last item I would be allowed to list because of this new 3 limit in women's top fashion items - for private sellers only.

I looked all through ebay announcements for the last month, all over my account pages, nothing except this one alert on the sell-your-item page.

I spent an hour on chat with their customer service and that is how I got the details. They were all very keen to give reasons, but not details of when it was introduced and refused to say which brands triggered the limits.

Do please let me know if it's different for you.
  • Recent restriction introduced within the last month, !!!!!!!! reason given, applies to all private sellers across all top fashion brands.

I must be the only one who doesn't know this :

    Ebay hot news

Private sellers only allowed to list 3 branded items in 30 consecutive days.

Recent restriction introduced within the last month, !!!!!!!! reason given, applies to all private sellers across all top fashion brands.

For the record, my 3 'top fashion brands' were Trutex, British Home Stores, and River Island. I'm sure Philip Green will be delighted with that news.

The way round it would be to list under a different category? Given most people would come across it through search - you may lose those that filter on clothes category but can still list stuff and gain exposure from those who search and dont filter? Or is this against some rule?

I must be the only person who did not know it was a free listing weekend...and I was free for once to make use of it! :(

I rarely sell in the categories that are restricted by the 3 sales rule, so that is probably why I've not come across it before. I don't see the point in wanting to upgrade what are clearly private accounts to business ones, just because you clear a wardrobe out once in a blue moon?! Ah well, ebay never was logical in any way, was it?

dipashah, as a general rule of thumb, ebay do the free listing weekend every 2 weeks, and then sometimes have other special offer weekends between those. Someone usually posts about it here too (which is why I subscribe to the thread, so it reminds me ;) )

  • A top tip for broad-minded sellers - make your fashion, make-up etc listings all "private" and add to the description something along these lines:
"(private TV CD)" It won't deter any buyers who aren't crossdressers (in my experience) but will encourage the guys who like to be Lola sometimes :)
