I read this thread a couple of times a year when I need a kick to get me back onto eBay. It's a great inspiration! We too have sold broken things, such as a camera, clearly labelled. In fact DH dropped it in the bin, I said "hang on, that will sell" and got £67 for it!

I have also sold perfume cards which I got through the post and once we sold a pram which we had bought off eBay in the first place for more than we paid for it!

Hitman08 - when you first join ebay they limit you to being able to sell 10 items a month only, when you log in you can go to the accounts section and request to increase your monthly allowance. They send a code to your home address to confirm that you live where you say you do and once you enter this you will then be allowed to sell up to 100 items or £3500 of goods per month. With the 10 item limit you currently have (so long as you are not a business user) then you should be eligable for the zero insertion fees offer. When you list the item before you put it live the system will tell you if there are any insertion fees to be paid.
You will still be liable for the selling fee once the item has been sold.

Great thread! We sold my husband's seriously 'retro' pager for £10 - put it on BIN and it went on 30 mins!!!
I've sold tons of carp on ebay, I'm always a bit disappointed at how clothes sell though, I sold a massive bundle of posh stuff (Coast, Karen Millen etc) which went for about 87p per item - the buyer then complained that some items were 'used' (as described!)!!! Cleared loads of space though!
Despite the negatives, ebay can be amazing!

Don't you just want to kick yourself when stuff sells so quick though. I always feel as though I set the price too low and maybe could have got more for it when it sells in a few minutes. I once did it with a car on BIN and it sold within a couple of minutes.

    regards

  • eBay usually send out an email a day or so before a free listing weekend.

I'm on it at the moment selling knickers for vacuum cleaners..of all things. There's a market for anything these days and where there's a market there's opportunity.

Sorry but I've got to ask. What on earth are knickers for vacuum cleaners?[/QUOTE]

Did anyone find out what these are?? I've just read this and it's made my day!!:rotfl:

true, but not to everybody, despite what the email settings might say.
If not posted here, check left side announcements on your ebay summary page.

Many thanks to all who mention the free listing days here- I've subscribed to the thread!
