  • Great thread! I had a clear out & listed some bits on ebay on a free listing weekend. My best sales were an old Kylie Minogue Calender from 1992, still in good condition sold for £35, an electronic Thunderbirds Toy bought from a car boot for £1 a few years back for £30, and a kids garden slide which I was originally going to freecycle. Listed the slide for sale with the buyer to collect & dismantle & sold for £38, chap was happy. Also sold a used Koors beer rubber drinks mat/bar runner & this sold to a collector in America for £15, who was delighted.
  • I've just listed an empty sweet tin from valentines. Will see if it sells! Think will stick all manner of things on at the weekend :0)
This months wins February : Lashes
  • I love going to car boot sales and once bought a pair of leather leggings for £2 that didnt fit me and sold on Ebay for £50!

Haven't had any items sell for huge ammounts but sold a disgusting lamp i got free for £10 plus postage a free newspaper dvd for £2 +p&p.
My old nintendo 64 (rare clear one) for £55. Also some clothes i actually bought of ebay have gone for £5 more than i paid.

The main bargains i have had include a sony tv and philips dvd player for £18.50, it's an old widescreen but it saved me from getting one on credit.

A sofa fitted cover for £9 plus postage, a very good deal considering they go for around £100 new and a new sofa can easily be £350.

A psone slim for £5.A solid oak dispaly unit/storage for £11.

if you live in a town or small city you can get a lot of bargains.

I have seen some members starting auctions at 1p and ending up with £30 for an item that is worth £20, i think it gets a lot of people watching it and creates a bidding war. But it's risky cause you have to sell ti at the price it goes for.

this thread has made me want to see what old junk i have lying around, if i could make £100 i would be pleased.

About cd's/dvd's trade-ins: music maggpie usually gives you 30p if you sell on ebay you are garunteed at least 99p plus p+p.
  • I used to be a size 8-10 and had some used (washed) underwear and thought i'd put it on ebay and they fetched £2-3 each ( sold to men)

I hate to think what they wanted it for but the money was to easy to pass up on.

You are but you have to consider whether it's really worth the time and effort.

for me it was much easier to grab them all, fill in the ISBN's stick them in a box and have MM come and collect.

I've just sold a few items and sent them including 2 tote bags I got free with magazines! Only got £1.60 for one and £1.20 for the other, but I still made a profit!

Also sold my backwards clock for £5.50, didn't expect it to be that much, you can buy em new for less than a tenner!

Will be listing more items in the coming weeks, I'm moving out this year and need to declutter
  • This is a fantastic thread, I've spent the last few days reading it all through!
Thanks to the person with the tip about using schedule listing, I'm getting some things ready for the next free insertion day.

I agree about rubbish selling better than good stuff. My own (really nice) things that I list hardly get a look in, but the tat I put on for my husband gets loads of interest. We had an old shed that my Mum gave us about thirty years ago and it was old then. My husband wanted me to put it on ebay but I was reluctant as it was full of woodworm and the roof sheets were broken and basically it was a load of old rubbish. It was however very big (you could get two cars in it) and we had over 200 watchers! I put loads of photos on of all the defects (you can put 12 free ones on for sheds) and made sure I said all that was wrong with it and it sold for £510!

On a bit of a roll we then sold my MIL's normal sized shed for £110. And the buyers dismantled them!

We've also got good prices for OH's used roofing sheets, bricks and roof tiles. The roof tiles were off our garage that we took down and were about 20 years old and just ordinary cement ones, but someone wanted them for an extension to match in.

I've also sold my brother's broken plasma tv for £87.
  • I forgot to say that you can get free bubble wrap from the fruit section at supermarkets. They have it at the bottom of the boxes of apples and grapes. If you ask the person stocking up if you can have it they'll often even get you some more from the back.

I re-use padded envelopes and when I run out ask on freecycle.
  • Free listing for over £1 this weekend, 9th and 10th March.
