    Time for another clearout!

On 13 - 14 April 2013, there will be no insertion fees* for private sellers that list up to 100 auction-style listing(s) at a starting price of £1.00 or more in an eligible category on eBay.co.uk

    Hi all...

I must admit I haven't looked at this thread in it's entirity so I apologise if this has already come up once or twice :o

I'm moving broadband provider and will get a new router through them, leaving my current, in perfect condition one useless. I wonder if I could flog this on eBay? I'm not looking to make a lot of money but even a few pence would be better than binning it for nothing! I know I'll have to pay fees etc but, again, even if my total profit is 50p, it's 50p more than I would've got putting it in the bin.

    Thanks :D

  • It's worth a try, but i doubt you'd get much if anything for it. I tried to give away a couple of old (but decent) routers and didn't get a single enquiry... (Probably because the vast majority of new broadband connectors come with a router anyway...)

It's worth looking on eBay for sold items that match your router, and how much they went for (if they sold).

Oh really? That's a bummer but I shall try anyway.

I see that eBay has a free listing weekend so I may just try it if I'm not going to be charged for it!

I shall have a dig around and see if there's anything else I can flog :D

This thread has inspired me and I have made over £150 in the last few weeks just from selling things I have lying around and never use.

The most I have got for an item was a Harry Potter book which I had signed by Emma Watson, I got £58 for that. I was sad to see it go but needs must!

I also got £1.99 for my used subscribers copy of SFX magazine that I usually throw away every month, I know what I will be doing from now on!

I thought I would make the most of the 20th anniversary and currently have listed a well used Jurassic Park pillowcase I had as a child in 1993. I started the listing at 99p and it has one bid and 6 watchers with 5 days to go. It's a shame I couldn't find the matching duvet cover!

Zero listing weekend, 27 and 28 April :T.
  • Well, I've gone and caught the eBay bug, haven't I!

About three weeks ago, I decided it was time to start getting rid of some stuff and making money - I am currently going through the US Visa process and should *hopefully* be moving to live with my fianc! in the USA by the end of this year! It's far from a cheap process, however, and I want to be travelling as light as possible... so where better to start making money than on eBay?

Three weeks down the line and I currently have a Sales Total of (min.) £240, with a few auctions still available. Add that to the things my fianc! sold in America on my behalf, and that goes up at around £500 between the two of us! It's amazing!

Anyway, to try and keep to the 'theme' of this thread, I have truly been baffled by some of the things people buy on eBay. Empty tins, generally things we would usually consider rubbish.

I myself sold a pair of Primark jeans for £3 more than I paid for them new, plus postage! And I got a few quid for a vest top that I clearly advertised as stained, and people were bidding right to the last minute! It's insane.
  • Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally!!!

I've been trying to get rid of 10 years of back issues of various magazines I used to receive in the post. I freecycled 2 of the 3 different mags, but didn't have the heart to give away the 3rd quality one. This afternoon, I finally sold them - £30 for the lot, but considering I was probably gonna have to freeecycle/recycle them at some point, I'm pleased with any amount. Plus, I have some space back in my car!!!

Also managed to sell 20 bulldog clips and a bumbag. I'm doing well today :)
