This is great advice re when to list - thanks. However, with low cost items, how is it worthwhile when you take in p&p and listing fees? Does anyone know when they are likely to have another free listing weekend?

I weigh things carefully with packaging material and charge exact postage and add 40p for packaging/printing postage label etc etc. (I do try and reuse stuff wherever I can but there are still bits you get through like sellotape.)

So if I sell something for 99p I've got £1.39 to play with for packaging materials and fees, It normally only means I get about 90p from memory, but if I'm using time I would otherwise waste and it's stuff I want rid of I'm ok with that.

I try and do 10 items at a time, anymore I find the packaging up is overwhelming as I work full time so it has to be done evenings/weekends.

Normally a few things go enough above 99p to make the overall effort worthwhile, if it was 10 things that all sold at 99p I'd get a bit fed up I think, but I do find starting at 99p actually gets more bids than starting higher surprisingly.

Quick tip for you Willow92, rather than asking your mum to list everything from scratch when you're away, why not create the listing, but put it on a Scheduled Listing (tick the box under where you put the starting price rather than having the Start Immediately box ticked).
But, to save the 6p for scheduled listing, ask your mum to go through them at the weekend when you actually want them to start (the will be in a list under Scheduled on the left hand side, and go to Edit, then change it back to Start Immediately, so it lists then.

Make sure you do the scheduled start time a couple of hours later than you actually want it to start, to give her plenty of time to do it.

I quite often use this trick on Free Listing weekends when I want to get listings ready and done during the day, but don't want them to start till the evening as it's a better time to finish!

I try & do this when I'm organised (so only done it a couple of times) & list a few higher priced things a day, schedule it to start as far in the future as possible. I think it's 3 weeks & if a free listing doesn't come up I re-schedule.
Saves the frantic listing over the weekend as I just edit & to start immediately at the time I want.

Well I would but I don't have an ebay account so it would be in my mum's account. I'm guessing I'd need an account to do the scheduled thing?

I'm inspired to sort out my clothes and sell them on eBay. I've never sold clothes on there before, and tbh they are not great brands that I have, mainly primark and asda. Do you think they will sell? I'm ok with 99p as anything is better than clothes I don't wear!

If I list on Saturday for the free listings, what day would be best to end it on?

    Many thanks.
