Finished work last Friday for this year (less than 5 weeks now till baby is due :) ), decided to do my tax return today to get it out of the way...but my baby brain decided earlier this year to not keep my p60! So have had to email work to request another be posted to me. Can't understand what I've done with it, I usually file everything way; even things we don't really need to keep...the one thing I need and It's no where to be found :p

  • Hello lovely Avon people! :)

    I have more questions!

    1. My first order arrived today (only one item was unavailable - I guess I will just have to apologise to my customer) my question is in regards to brochures. I still have lots of C15 books left but I have delivered them all to the 36 houses I cover - so I will have to post C16 to all my houses now (which I am planning to do today or tomorrow) - is there anything I can do with the C15 books? It seems such a waste!

    2. I haven't got telephone numbers/email addresses for all my customers so can't give them a warning in regards to me coming and 'have your cash ready' - if they do not have the cash when I arrive with the items I am planning to say that I will come back another time (and not hand the goods over!) - are the customers usually ok with this?

    3. Letting the HRMC know about additional income - I work full time (with a lot of travelling and overnight stays in hotels) so I dont really have time to call them - is there a link to an online form I can complete? I am terrified when the time comes to submit my taxes (as I am rubbish at maths!) but I will worry about that when the time comes!

Thanks in advance! I would be lost without this forum! :)

  • I forgot one question!

    4. The item that is out of stock - am I still getting charged for this? It doesn't say on my invoice when it will be delivered it just says -

'Sorry temporarily out of stock - there is no need to re-order. Estimated delivery may be too late for the campaigns next order.'

Thats as clear as mud to me! Thats says to me that I have still paid for it and its still on order but they don't know when I will get it?! :S

    Thanks

There is a link on the first page to register as self employed which is what you need to do :)
I would copy it and pop it here for you but my internet is being sooo slow today :'(

oh and No 2- I'm sure that will be fine :) I'd just say I know what its like I never have any cash on me, and be sure to check when is best to call back, I live really rural its a hour round trip to a cash point so could be several days before people get chance to get cash

I wouldn't worry about the maths.
If you do a tax return on-line then all the maths is calculated for you - you just have to fill in the boxes.

It seems such a waste!

You could ask the person you joined with if there are any more houses available for you to deliver to. I use old brochures to canvass houses that don't already order from me, I attach a note to the front saying the following:
    Calling all old/new Avon customers!
Avon has celebrated over 125 years!

Here’s a slightly out of date brochure to give you an idea of Avon products/prices.
Avon has a fantastic 90 day money back guarantee, so if you aren’t completely happy with your products you can exchange/return them.
I run a loyalty scheme where you get a FREE GIFT with every 6 orders that you place with me!
If you’d like to see a current catalogue (with no obligation to order) please contact me, Laura on *contact info here*

(If this is of no interest, please accept my apologies for bothering you and kindly recycle/dispose of the book.)

    2. I haven't got telephone numbers/email addresses for all my customers so can't give them a warning in regards to me coming and 'have your cash ready' - if they do not have the cash when I arrive with the items I am planning to say that I will come back another time (and not hand the goods over!) - are the customers usually ok with this?

If you're passing you could pop a note through the door the day or so before to let them know a day/rough time you'll be delivering and how much they owe. Otherwise - yes if they haven't got the cash, don't hand the goods over, but arrange another day to go, they understand that they won't get there order without payment.

If you go on the HMRC website there is lots of info on there. If you already pay National insurance on your job, it's worth enquiring with them about getting an exemption form, so that you don't have to pay it again on your self employed earnings - you can't claim for anything extra if you pay it twice, so better to save yourself some money. Submitting a tax return is quite straight forward - just make sure you keep your P60, as if you have another job you have to enter some info from that when entering your self assessment tax form, but it's very easy to do.
Thanks in advance! I would be lost without this forum! :)

No, if it's listed at the end of your invoice with any info by it - out of stock, to follow etc, then you won't have been charged for it. What it means is, they anticipate that it will be delivered in your next delivery/the one after, when it is delivered that's when you'll be charged for it. You don't need to re-order it, as it will automatically be dispatched when it comes back into stock.

There is various couriers round the country that get our orders to deliver to us. I don't think they get our contact info - as far as I know all they have it what is on the address label - ie your address, and your safe location (ie a shed/garage, wherever you are happy for your order to left if you are out). I'm sure they'll find you, they'll have your postcode and will be used to delivering orders in your area, as they will deliver other things not just Avon.
