How do you go about selling in the workplace, gym etc? I wouldn't have enough brochures for everyone... would I be allowed to put a poster up asking people to contact me if interested?

For your first 2 campaigns you'll be supplied with 20 brochures (for each campaign) for free, but after that you order as many brochures as you need. Worst case scenario, if you get too much interest from somewhere like a gym or workplace, is that you let people have a brochure for a short length of time or say it'll be a week or two until you can add them to your round, or send them an e-brochure via e-mail.

Something to plan ahead for with public places (where you don't work) is how you're going to deliver orders. Will you meet at the public place? Not everyone will be able to be there on the same day, although I imagine that at a gym people would have a set day of the week for going so that might be easier. The key to making Avon worthwhile financially is to fit it in with what you already do and/or do it in blocks of time so you're not travelling to one place on Monday, then back to the same place with a different customer on Tuesday etc...
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Despite never being in for my order they have never once left mine in my safe spot (the shed). To begin with they used to leave it in the garage which was confusing as the handle/lock is broken and we have never been able to open it from the outside. They now leave it at a back door which is ok as we live in a detached house in a small village so is private but I don't for true life of me know why they don't leave it in the shed...

Best bet is to ring your couriers and tell them to leave it in the specified safe location, or leave a note where they tend to put your delivery pointing out it should be left in x place. Mine once got left outside was it someone different delivering, I rang and complained as we were actually away and it was left outside in the rain. They haven't made that mistake again as they got a mouthful from husband!

Of course, if you get customers that are too far away for it to be feasible for you to deliver to them (and they can't/won't meet you closer to, at the gym etc) - you could pass their details onto the person you joined with for them to find a more local rep (or direct to another rep if you know any others that are nearer).

Could be worth trying the poster as you may well get customers that are close enough to you to deliver to/meet them at the gym to make it worthwhile, but perhaps after your first campaign or so, so that you can get the hang of everything before making things more complicated by having to arrange particular delivery times/places with other customers.

Hello, I've been quiet as have been v busy with all the jobs and quite poorly. Trying to recover so that I can go in for a sinuses operation next week.

Just got a load of brochures from my new AM so pushed myself - took me 2 hours to arrange the brochures and nearly 2 hours to deliver them and it was very heavy lol but hopefully within a fewdays left before the op will have my all remaining territory covered. And I am trying my luck being a trainee SL, we'll see how it goes but made arrangement that will make any appointments that our AM can't make herself so that we help each other in this way. I really hope it will work but am a bit worried as I am so limited with time.

Managed to get already £135 for this campain so hopefully will not have problems to reach £148 - last campain I was 'short of' over £20 so had to order stuff for myself, which I will probably return.

Question about foundation shades ladies - one of the customers is Indian, quite dark skinned and she ordered Ivory foundation - clearly wrong for her, which samples do you think I should try to order for her to try? Many thanks

ah forgot to ask - there were 3 items missing from my order so I emailed asking for them to be sent asap.
I got a parcel today with all 3 items x 2 - nothing about this being a bonus or a form of apology, I am a bit puzzled, do I have to return do you think?

Did they come with an invoice? If so, just pay it (and enjoy if you've got some accidental freebies.... :j ) - maybe Avon have included some extras for you by way of an apology.... ;)

What about trying the new Flawless range - maybe Caramel?

PS: Good luck on the SL front.

Thank you very much MM and MC for your advice. I think I will have to have a chat with mum and dad and see what they think. It is useful to know I can change the address on a campaign by campaign basis though! I will also have to check with work because there is something in my contract about asking before you get a 'second job'.

If all goes well I think I may well join you guys again! MC if I pm you I would be most grateful if you could give me an idea about what day my delivery might be.

Also I just wondered what you do about insurance, do you need any or is it all covered by the Avon guarantee(is if someone reacted to a product).

Also how would I stand with advertising? Could I put an advert intbe local newsletter to advertise in the whole few villages round us, or is thank frowned upon? Would I just do my allocated areas only? (can I advertise via Facebook?)

Sorry I have been out of the loop for a long while and things have changed a lot in the last few years!

No insurance required, any reactions will need reporting immediately to avon probably followed up by special return of the product for evaluation.

You can advertise on facebook, no idea about the newsletter. Lozza is pretty 'up' on facebook having recently gained customers that way, MC probably best to ask about advertising.

Good luck, I'm sure you wont regret it.

I'll do a post about Facebook in a couple of day when I have chance - there's a lot to tell you! Don't see why you can't do a newspaper add as a rep - I just Wouldn't do an introductory discount as otherwise other reps might complain you're poaching their customers, but an advert to say you're a rep and contact details if anyone wants a book delivering if they don't already have a rep would be fine, I imagine it would gain you some customers, I just wouldn't pay much for it as youre obviously not guaranteed a response.
