Hello there, I used to do Avon a few years ago, but stopped because where we lived it was mostly second homes so I never got many customers. But in October we moved house to a more residential area where people actually live so I wad thinking about doing it again.

I have a couple if questions though, I work full time Monday to Friday so I was wondering what would happen about getting my avon delivery of products, what day does the delivery come? Would it come in the evening or could I collect from somewhere instead? If the worst came to the worst could I get it delivered to mum and dads house as they are there all day?

    Thanks in advance!
    Mortgage overpayments 2014 £175 :)
    GC Dec £169.00/£220.00
    GC Jan £169.31/£220.00
    GC Feb £259.23/£220.00
    GC Mar £219.02/£220.00
  • Thanks again - is it realistic to aim to place orders of at least £100 every three weeks? Do most people achieve more/less?

Are people pretty good at putting brochures back out for collection, or do you have to keep chasing them?

How do you go about selling in the workplace, gym etc? I wouldn't have enough brochures for everyone... would I be allowed to put a poster up asking people to contact me if interested?

wondering what would happen about getting my avon delivery of products, what day does the delivery come? would depend on your area. Tends to be a fixed day of the week but different days for everyone. Mine comes mondays (today!) usually before 9:30 am for example. Your upliner/SL can advise.
Would it come in the evening or could I collect from somewhere instead? You can nominate a safe place if you have one around your property.
If the worst came to the worst could I get it delivered to mum and dads house as they are there all day? Yes, you can have a different delivery address. Probably the best option.

    Thanks in advance!

    Does that help?

Are people pretty good at putting brochures back out for collection, or do you have to keep chasing them? Some are great, some aren't. I still have to chase a couple of mine after 5 years!

How do you go about selling in the workplace, gym etc? I wouldn't have enough brochures for everyone... would I be allowed to put a poster up asking people to contact me if interested? Probs best to speak to the proprietor. Your workplace may allow but gym might not. How about 2 or 3 in the staff room at work with plenty of order slips?

    Hope this helps.

just walk down a street and approach anyone who looks a 'likely candidate' i.e. presentable, wearing (lots of ;)) make-up and fairly agile.

That made me smile, MC. 'When I was approached, I was very scruffy, old trainers, no make up although I may have been coming out of waitrose! Nearly died when she came to my car with me - filled with rubbish and messy. My house wasn't much better. Not a lot has changed:D but still with avon. Do try to make an effort on delivery days but secretly feel that I am less intimidating to my older customers when I fail to achieve perfection :rotfl:

I signed up cos I was looking for part-time job number 5 or 6 to slot around school hours with my other jobs. You could try looking for sign-ups outside school - best at end of day when mums are going home and not so stressed/busy. Some wont want to stand and talk/be seen with you so slips of paper they can take home may yield some interest.

Well, she obviously spotted something in you if you've been an Avon lady for so long! :T

Have tried outside school gates with the latest fragrance; did pick up a few new customers (no reps) but deffo worth trying.

To add to MM's post, your customers do eventually get 'trained' :) to leave your books out (I put a note on the front, clearly stating when am collecting so pretty sure that helps too) but I've had a lot of reps quitting recently so I've been trying to keep their customers 'warm' and it's been a bit like pulling teeth collecting my books back in from them. Hadn't realised how good 'my lot' were until I struggled with the 'untrained' ones... :rotfl:

As for £100 worth of orders, yes, that's not as hard as it sounds - average order, say, is £8-£15 so that's only 6-12 customers which is easily achievable in three weeks. I signed a new rep up last week, who in four days managed to hit HOV (£148+).

    Yes, DO IT! :j

As MM says, you can either permanently arrange to have your order delivered to a different address - work, neighbour, family member - or you can amend the delivery dress on a campaign basis. Avon is just soooo adaptable; really don't know why everyone's NOT an Avon rep! LOL

I can give you an idea of what day your deliveries would be if you'd like to PM/post up a postcode near you (doesn't actually need to be your own if you prefer not to divulge that).

Despite never being in for my order they have never once left mine in my safe spot (the shed). To begin with they used to leave it in the garage which was confusing as the handle/lock is broken and we have never been able to open it from the outside. They now leave it at a back door which is ok as we live in a detached house in a small village so is private but I don't for true life of me know why they don't leave it in the shed...
