Gaining customers as a F+F rep - canvassing means to be standing on the doorstep of someone you don't know and being about to knock on the door or post them a brochure or leaflet. Places like toddler groups or the school gates are seen as open spaces where you can at least ask. Reps can even stand in the street and hand out brochures (which could lead to customers in other rep's streets) - things to consider before doing this would be whether the council would be okay with it, and where you're prepared to travel so you don't end up with customers too far away to make it worthwhile.
Fine line though between just calling in at a Playgroup, etc. for the sole purpose of asking if they want to see a book as that building actually does have an address and quite likely will form part of another rep's territory i.e. pre-supposing it's not part of your own. If you are a member of that group or going to participate in some activity there then yes, of course, you can ask around whilst there to see if anyone would like a book. Good idea to ask the owners/organisers for permission first though and maybe offer them, say, 10% for Group funds if they help promote your Avon business.
Handing out books in the street is also a useful way to swoop to recruit new reps. Just be careful if you decide to 'shelter' from the weather and do it under cover though - chances are you will need permission from someone.....Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Ok as we have a few new reps on here now -
what would you like from your upline (the person you joined with), say in terms of info covered in an email newsletter, what things you'd like recognition for, anything else you can think of that you like / dislike about the person you joined with, any other input on things you'd find useful from them.
Just thought it would be useful for the sl on here to find out what reps want so we can make things better for you - I know everyone is different but I'm guessing there's going to be some common likes/dislikes
Really good point Lozza, thanks for bringing this up.
I am an SL and have designed my own training manual (based on experience and tips gleaned from here!) which I always give to new team members. It covers all the things I wish I had known when I first signed up and so far, has been received well. Its not perfect, but I worked hard to make it light and fun. Happy to send a copy to anyone if you PM me. Would be interested in some feedback from fellow SL's.
I also give out more than the standard number of books along with examples of the notes I put in and a pack of brochure bags.
In terms of contact, I drop my team a quick text once a campaign just to say hi and remind them that they can come to me for any help. ALso offer to assist if they are doing parties or the like.
We lot on here appear to be so much more helpful than others, it is SO hard when your upline signs you up and then abandons you.....
(Can you tell that was my experince!)
We have just got a new ASM (YAAY!) and she appears to be taking the issue of territory seriously (at last), trying to update SMA. Hope that my new found hope is not dashed........0 -

Hi MB,
I'd love a copy pls (will PM you). Been thinking that I also need to expand on some sort of 'manual' too for my SLs. One is 'galloping' ahead and well on the way to being ASL even though she's not finished her own SmartStart scheme yet. V difficult to know what people don't know if you get my drift so need to set up some sort of system as to what I've covered.
Hope you're coping with the weather up there and AOK in your world.

Thanks, will send you a pm as would be nice to see what other sl put in their guides - I finally got round to making a couple of guides last year (one for T1, and one for T2 to help them with understanding submitting an order / delivery etc).
I too was chucked in the deep end when I joined, learnt pretty much everything I needed from here otherwise I would have been completely lost! One thing I realised was that there's such a lot of stuff for a new rep to take in, so useful to have it in writing for them for future reference to help them feel a bit more confident. You would have thought Avon would provide such guides but they must think we all have brilliant memories :rotfl:
MC - if you already have, could I have a look at it (or when you do make one could I see) please? Not that I have any sl yet, but I keep thinking I should make a sl guide ready for when I do...but haven't the faintest idea where to begin lolAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

CAMPAIGN 4 : Free Ideal Flawless Foundation Sample. - Free Ideal Flawless Foundation Sample when you purchase any make-up product on pages 64 to 69.
It says one sample per customer but I have a number of customers ordering from these pages with the free sample also ordered. Will I only get 1 free or 1 free per qualifying product ordered. Just getting to grips with placing my orders as this is only my second one.0 -
Order one sample per qualifying product even if customer hasn't ordered them so you can either give them to that customer or keep to give to another customer if they ask about the foundation.0
-
Order one per product. Avon don't know it's the same customers. You could keep the extras for your samples.
Edit: Sorry, dingdong, hadn't refreshed the page. Snap! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Would be good to see your T1 and T2 guides too please if I may? I take a lot of time (more than recommended) when I sign up a new rep and am cognisant that I need to simplify things. The longer I do Avon, the more tips I gleen and want to pass on to my team..... When my newbies' eyes glaze over though I do take the hint! :rotfl:
As for training SLs, there is an initial check-list on your website when you appoint a TSL. All seems very daunting at first but if they know what they're doing as a rep, it's just a matter of re-assuring them that they need to pass on their own knowledge to their team members and you need to show them round SMA, team orders, reports, etc. ALM is another matter - it's supposedly a great tool for us but until you have a team there's no information there to see.... chicken and egg come to mind. :rotfl: As ever, Avon is a learning curve.....
Yes, of course, will gladly share with you when I finally get something sorted. Could be a while though.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)
