Contact from uplines - some reps find mass e-mails impersonal but I'm fine with them. I'm directly under an ASM so I don't expect personalised contact when she has about 400 downlines. She sends out a newsletter every other campaign (or thereabouts). I expressed disappointment on Connects once that Smart Start level achievers were recognised, but there was no mention of high selling reps (who are likely to have been with Avon for longer) - it just seemed like a symptom of it being all about recruiting rather than retention. However, the following campaign the newsletter listed the top 15 sellers (which could still have featured newer sign-ups).I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Have reported the two posters above as spam. I'm guessing the Avon bit we mentioned on the previous page has now attracted unwanted attention to our helpful thread.
I know you both meant well, but it against the forum rules to advertise on here which Is why No-one else has. If it continues then this useful thread is likely to be under threat, as all people would think is that it's for advertising rather than useful hints & tips.
I myself am a sl, and would love to put my website on the first post and generally "tout" for business, however I respect the forum rules and use this thread to help others rather than recruiting for my own benefit.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
I'm just starting Avon but at the moment have chosen not to canvas territory. My question really relates to the 'ways to get Avon customers'. I have a toddler so once I finish full time work will be taking him to playgroups 2-3 times a week. Am I allowed to talk to women I meet there about Avon or would that be considered canvassing without territory (which I gather is not permitted)? When I did the training on building your business the woman just seemed to approach anyone about Avon...?0

Ok as we have a few new reps on here now -
what would you like from your upline (the person you joined with), say in terms of info covered in an email newsletter, what things you'd like recognition for, anything else you can think of that you like / dislike about the person you joined with, any other input on things you'd find useful from them.
Just thought it would be useful for the sl on here to find out what reps want so we can make things better for you - I know everyone is different but I'm guessing there's going to be some common likes/dislikes
a couple of things which would have made my joining Avon easier:
- some Avon bags to go with the brochures (spent a fortune on ill-fitting bags from Tesco's in the first month)
- pack of calling cards
In terms of communication - I don't expect a personal congratulations from my SL, I'm sure they've got far too many people to be going to that level. I do think a brief newsletter - perhaps one a quarter - with team success, hints/tips etc would be great. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
No reason why you shouldn't try to get customers from playgroups etc., you can call them friends and family. You may be surprised, however, how many have their own reps. Is there a reason you don't want to canvass? It can be helpful in building a customer base if you are a bit short on female friends and family. The first few campaigns will be the hard work in establishing yourself (especially with a toddler) but will pay dividends once you have gained trust. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Anyone you speak to you can ask if they want a brochure - the only thing we can't do is deliver books / knock on doors to find customers on streets that aren't allocated to us. However - if you speak to any of your neighbours you can ask them - they fall under friends/family - effectively the network of people you know.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Def speak to everyone and anyone you will see regularly like playgrounds and playgroups and any clubs your kiddies go to - that is perfectly acceptable as that is just using your network - you don't have to have territory to speak to people you know - even just acquaintances.Avon Sales Leader in North Kent Since July 20110 -
