hi im tom and im 30 next year im working full time in a job im not realy enjoying and am thinking of becomeing an avon sl, but would like to ask a few questions

1 do men do well with avon bearing in mind the vast majority of reps are ladies

2 if you become an sl in one town can you also sell in another town for example if u lived in saltash cornwall but worked in plymouth devon could you deliver in plymouth

3 where i live we used to have an avon rep who was very pushy if u gave her back her book without an order she would open it and say so u dont want anything well this is on a special offer this is half price why not try one of these and she was like it all the time ive spoken to a few of her x customers and they said the reason they never ordered was because they didnt want to order through her as she was annoying which makes me wonder if by being so pushy she was pushing her customers away

and if you work really hard can you turn it into a full time living

thax for all your help

Wow, that is really pushy! I'd run miles away from somebody like this. I think it probably doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, it's what you make of it. I am just very polite and always come back, am punctual and do not knock on the door after 8pm. Never push for anything - if they want sth fine if not fine. I think also not coming back literally every campain may help - I am planning to come back every 2-3 campains to those who ordered and re-canvas every 6-7 months.
But I am quite new myself

Oh, am so frustrated with myself - missed sth again! In c 17 if a customer ordered perfumes pp 80-89 for over £10 they could get a free lace clutch. I had 1 customer who did order 2xperfumes for £13 but she didn't put the clutch and I haven't noticed :-(

Ok Mammato1 you NEED to watch out for things like this not just for your customers BUT for yourself! I had 2 customers order perfumes at £6.50 and another order £24 of perfume to get her free clutch.... I claimed 3 FREE clutches :). You can always offer to back order the clutch for her and deliver with her next order. (this will encourage her to order again and you can just back order and then place a return for the perfumes once they arrive)

I will give one to my sister as a gift and will give another out in a free prize draw at some point with a few make up or jewellery items.

I am going to a field day with the C18 FREE set! I plan to total all my orders up and see how many £10's I have hit and claim them all!

Also I would go to those who buy EVERY campaign unless they say not to. Lots of them will WANT to buy every time, be it to top up make-up or to order new shower gells and shampoo because they are running low. Once you get loyal customers they will also want to buy for gifts for friends when birthdays etc are coming up. Don't miss out on potential custom, customers will tell u when they don't want it every time and they will appreciate that your not being pushy and your happy to meet their request of only doing every other book :)

Hi Tom,

Email me on avochris@live.co.uk and I'll gladly send you some more details but basically:

1. We all start off as reps but some reps join with the express purpose of going into Sales Leadership asap to grow their own teams and increase their earnings.
2. There are bonuses for moving up through the levels of SLship - it does tend to be 'jam tomorrow' so the bonuses make up for that.
3. SLs can canvass anywhere in the UK for reps (and, of course, tend to find customers along the way, which is really useful when you find a new rep to sign up as you can then provide them with a 'ready-made' customer base)
4. Reps/SLs can sell/deliver to anyone they know personally irrespective of where they live so yes, Cornwall/Devon - not a problem.
5. With hard work the sky is the limit. At our SL conference this year, one lady won an award for getting to Exec SL level within 6 campaigns (18 weeks). Exec level is generally considered a full-time wage but don't be fooled, it's not easy and as Marsha told us, she treats her Avon business as full-time work, timetabling her day into hourly segments for canvassing/recruiting/training etc. etc.
6. Forget the pushy female you mention; she's deffo NOT a good role model. The knack is to build a relationship with your customer base (and your team) so they trust that you have their best interests at heart.

Now for your first question:

The highest earner last year in Avon SLship was a man (David Carter), the 2nd highest earner was his partner (Debbie Davis) - between them they earned over £1 million :j :jand the third highest earner was the partnership: Gail & Brian Reynolds. If you've got a Mail on Sunday handy, check out p75 - there's an article about a former banker, who gave up his full-time job to help his wife in her Avon business (now valued @ £2 million). It's taken a lot of hard work and between 8-11 years in their cases but got to be food for thought!

When do you want to start? Call/email me! :rotfl:

If you ring Avon VERY quickly after submitting, sometimes they can add something to your order - worth a try.

Good luck.

Thanks, I will deliver the perfumes to her now and order them again for the clutch, then return the perfumes, good thinking.

As for every campain it's still a no for me - I am in a very poor area and ppl generally ask me not to come bac every campain and because I haven't canvassed all my streets yet I think it's better to canvas for me atm and come back to those who ordered every second, third campain but I intend to ask them whether they want the next book right when I deliver their products - most of them would say not now, maybe in a few week's time

Put the next book in with your orders - usually people are 'in Avon mode' when they get their goods so are 'gagging' to look at the next book and see what's on offer and/or what's new.

Don't forget too to ask your friends and family i.e. everyone you know personally. Chances are your orders from your F&F will exceed your territory customers because your F&F actually want to give you their support. ;)

It's also worth putting a flyer in with your books to offer a special deal i.e. free gift with orders £10+ or for introducing a new customer.

Yes, I deliver on tuesdays and always give a new brochure with my orders which I collect the following monday (plenty of time to take to work/show the family etc.).

I do a 'special' each month too which is either a freebie with a certain spend or a small discount on a new product (helps if its a moneymaker).

Just to add that at this time of year, I tend to give my bestie customers the current and back brochures, I'm on C18 so will do this for C18 and C1. Cuts down on my creative ordering potential but means that there's a wider selection to choose from and regulars will quite happily order from the same book twice. It also gives those on back brochures the chance to play 'catch up'.

I normally miss C2 and start C3/C2 for besties with back ordering from C2 for my not so regulars as it falls over Christmas. Think I may try just doing my besties on C2 this year and see if I can pick up any orders. If its a non-starter then I'll know better for next year :D

Finally, the shop which I have been dropping a couple of brochures to for the last 11 months or so has finally produced some customers. Proprietor has tried being a rep, got in a pickle, came back to me and ordered a few bits irregularly. I have conceded 10% to her but have the benefits of a one stop drop for deliveries. Two phone calls over the weekend has cheered me up no end :D

Will just miss out on PC by about £200 again this year although still unsure whether I will really benefit if I do ever qualify. Have lost my Avon mojo over the last couple of weeks as been really busy with my other jobs. Will put in one final push on the run up to Christmas and need to spend several hours sorting out goodies for my lovely ladies.

As a SL you can recruit reps all over the country, and if you know people in Plymouth (work, family, friends-of-friends etc...) you can be their rep. Having lived in Plymouth for a couple of years, I know there's a big natural barrier between Plymouth and Saltash (is the bridge a toll one?) so it's very likely they'll be in different Avon areas. Avon split the country into areas so if you sign up in one you can only be allocated streets to canvas in that area, even if the next area may be only a few minutes' walk away. You can do stalls, carboots, fetes etc... over in Plymouth - but when it comes to canvassing streets it's highly likely you won't be able to get any allocated there.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Hi, does anyone have a link to the compensation plan showing how bonuses are paid to sales leaders? I have done a search on the internet but can't find anything (or maybe I'm just a bad ''googler'')

thanks
