Reports are circulating that BestBuy are expecting to get another shipment of TouchPads very soon.

Staff are being instructed to say they have no stock, and customers are to be given forms to fill out their details in order to get contacted if any Touchpad tablets become available. See droidmatters dot com website for screenshot of BestBuy instructions to staff.

It;s a pity BestBuy have so few stores in the UK (and none in Scotland).

The HP Touchpad is a excellent piece of kit.

IF you change some of the, quite frankly bizarre software limitations HP decided to include.

I've posted before what to do (or what I've done) to speed up the touchpad by quite a bit, I can post again if someone nudges me.

Since the stuff on ZDNet originally came from PreCentral, can you add this which I saw there as another way to enter the ##logs# command without using the dialer for people who don't want to set up a Skype account just to be able to access the dialer: "you can go into your settings tab, tap on device info. On the top left there is a device info tab. Tap that and hit custom application. In the box that pops up, type ##logs# and you'll be able to properly turn logging off."

They've also got a handy thread about it all here with a whole bunch of useful stuff: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/293028-new-touchpad-heres-your-get-started-guide.html

yeah not quite the rock-bottom sale price "The 16Gb version is £199.00 including VAT and delivery, the 32Gb version is £229.00 including VAT and delivery. As before we will be limiting the order to one per customer."

Edit: at those prices, people still looking for one are probably better off trying their luck on ebay

  • £199 is ridiculous, when you think they were being sold for £89, is anyone thinking of paying this for it?

I really want a touchpad, have come into some money that was owed to me, but i dont want to be ripped off, I am contemplating just buying the IPAD and being done with it!!!

well it is and isn't... £89 was giving them away, even £199 is rather cheap for the quality of the hardware... Have a look at the specs of the other tablets in the £200 price range - it's nowhere near. The question is whether people are willing to pay that price for something that could be had for peanuts a few days ago

I know what you mean, your right, but i would feel a fool to pay that price when i could have had it at a silly price on monday,

Maybe HP should have dropped the price to £199 in the first place and see where it went from there! x
