I know what you mean, your right, but i would feel a fool to pay that price when i could have had it at a silly price on monday,

I totally understand, ordered a 32GB from Staples on Tuesday and was mildly annoyed that their price for it was £150 instead of the £115 other places were charging... Still, I got one so I can't complain really :p

Lucky is the word... I got an on-screen order acknowledgement but *no* confirmation, then later received the dreaded (but kind of expected) "sorry we've had to cancel your order" email followed a few hours later by a call from Staples customer service saying they had managed to get more of the 32GB and asking whether I still wanted one. Nice surprise :p

I paid £115 for the 32g at staples on Tuesday morning strange how they increased there price.
  • Several retailers sold at higher prices including BT. I had one in my basket when the website crashed. I will buy an iPad eventually but the TouchPad offers good value at the reduced price. What a crazy way to handle the sale though? I have never seen anything like it!
  • A big thank you to everyone who joined the campaign agaist Play.com this week.

they have this morning announced that they will be honouring the price reduction, and are apparantly automatically refunding everyone. The refunds will take 3-5 days.

People are starting to receive emails from them, others who have't received emails yet and phoning Play.com up who are confirming it is true.

Did you get it in-store? I ordered mine in the mad morning rush on their site and it was £150 then, which was the maximum I was prepared to pay for a gadget that I didn't need but would be nice to have.

Yeah I was very lucky as it was the only one they had.:)
  • Thank you for your email.

We are writing in regards to your recent order for the HP TouchPad 16GB
webOS 3.0 WiFi 9.7 inch Tablet PC.

It has been widely reported that due to this product being discontinued
Hewlett Packard would be supporting retailers in reducing the price of
this item down to £89. At the time of placing your order this support had
not been confirmed to us, therefore the item remained at the original
    price of £349.

However, we have since had this confirmed and we pleased to advise you
that we are able to offer this item at the discounted price. A partial
refund of £260 has been processed and should appear on your card
    statements within 3 working days.

Please accept our apologies for any confusion caused in this matter and we
would like to thank you for your patience and valued custom.

    Kind Regards

Looks like it's only the US BestBuys that are getting more stock today.

    From the goodereader dotcom website:
Bestbuy – Bestbuy will be getting a number of 16 GB and 32 GB TouchPads today at specific locations. They will not be updating their online listings and the best way to know if they are having them in stock before you may the trek to the store, is to call them and ask them about the SKU. The 16 GB SKU is 2842056 and the 32 GB SKU is 2842092. If you live in Canada, don’t bother. Bestbuy has informed us that the last shipments will be destined for the USA only, because of accelerated demand.

As for HP, the goodereader website states:
HP.COM – The website has a feature that allows them to notify you when they have them in stock. You can check that out HERE. You can also continue to see if they have them in stock HERE. Also if you have already ordered a TouchPad from the official HP website and want to know all the details regarding the order, if its been shipped and so on. You can simply visit the handy new page they setup HERE.

Even if you could get an order in to the HP dot com website, I'm not sure what their policy is for shipping to UK customers. They might block it - in the same way that Amazon does.

The US market gets preference again - it's the same with the "free apps" offered by HP yesterday: it was only on offer to US customers. I tried using the promo code for the Glimpse app, but it had expired by 7:30 am. Come on HP - get your act together.
