    Just kidding!

I've just had the following email too:

<SIGH> For a few minutes there, I felt like a person with a Touchpad on the way. I felt different. Colours seemed brighter... Too much?

So, it's clearly a waste of time. Back to the drawing board...

if it had shipped for you I would have jumped off the bridge down the road over the M1...

Was really hoping to get one, but now all my hope seems to have gone. Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

i have order with expansys just got this email

With the bank holiday weekend coming up here in the UK we wanted to
let you know the latest on your order for the HP TouchPad.

Regrettably, we are not yet in a position to confirm if and when we
will receive more stock. We are still working very closely with all
our suppliers making every effort we can to secure more supply.

Unfortunately, it is not only a matter of locating available stock,
but also securing it at a cost that allows us to offer it as close as
possible to the new lower prices everyone wants.

We would like to reiterate our promise that you will be first to know
when the stock situation becomes resolved, and that we will do
everything we can to fulfil your order.

We sincerely apologise for the time this is taking and wish you a
    very enjoyable bank holiday.
  • Forgive me if this is a dense question, but don't Palmstore, being part of HP, supply all the other retailers? i.e. They're the distributor. If so, then as they've given up getting further stock, surely Expansys have no chance?

    Hi RonniesMummy

This MSE forum is probably our best bet if anything else crops up at this late stage (the power of crowdsourcing).

But the TouchPad frenzy now appears to be over, and it looks unlikely that any more deals will be on offer in the short term.

nevertheless - I'm still monitoring all possible leads for any hint of a second wave of TouchPads - if I hear anything I'll post it here as soon as I can.

    Stay tuned.

Good article on the phonearena dot com wesbite entitled: "HP cancels some TouchPad orders placed through their web site"
"it really makes you wonder how they’re able to oversell their very own inventory"

I got to the point where there was a 16GB in my basket £399 earlier this afternoon, but I bottled and called HP, spoke to a very helpful lady there called Helen who was finding out at just that minute that there was a problem with several of the websites.

She confirmed that HP have no stock, but that they are trying to gather an order of touchpads together from Europe. She then told me that she had no idea how big that order would be and whether those Touchpads would just be for sale to HP staff or whether they would be up for sale on the HP website (if they go on sale to the public, that will be on the HP website. She said that she didn't expect anything to change until mid next week and that the only way to keep tabs on it would be to keep checking the website.

Hope this is some use, I'm sorry to prolong the agony!

HP never had any to sell via themselves in the UK. It must have been a website glitch or someone on their team having a laugh.
