..... I don't understand why they can't just refund the sale price as was promised initially.

Possibly because the staff are wanting them for themselves?

    Dear Mr Zelazny,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding stock availability for the HP Touchpad WiFi.

I am very sorry you have been unable to purchase the item you wanted. I have looked into this for you and I am sorry to advise that the HP Touchpad Wifi has been withdrawn from sale and we will no longer be receiving further stock. I hope that you can find a suitable alternative from our wide product range.

Please accept my apologies for any disappointment and inconvenience caused.

A lot of people have said that Argos are due more stock in September, but at least part of the CS team seems to be unaware (or has been told to say nothing).

I am convinced there is more stock coming... why?

Well, I am monitoring some pages and Tesco have just made the following changes...

http://yfrog.com/h8dg2qdj is a post of what they have changed... and oddly it shows the reduced price and below, the changes... which shows the new price (higher) and currently out of stock...

    HP did the same:

Interesting.... looks as though the price is going back up? More to come or, the final stock with 3G?
  • Thanks ALaKurt, think I can finally put this to bed and forget about my Expanseys order now!

Not sure why they don't just let you keep yours and refund you.

I hope they're not seriously expecting to be able to sell them at the full price...

I was lucky enough to be able to get one, but frankly I don't think they're worth what they were originally asking for - at that premium price point there's better ones to be had. I knew the limitations before getting it and decided that at the reduced price it was just about worth it (my biggest gripe being the lack of memory card slot or USB host capability hence why I went for the 32GB) and I've come across some things that quite irritate me since receiving it like not being able to sort bookmarks, no way to add, remove or rename launcher tabs. Also font rendering particularly in the browser is less than stellar.

Some things can be improved by getting homebrew stuff from PreCentral and sooner or later Android (and possibly other OS too) will end up on it either as an emulator or straight port, however I'm sure a lot of people won't want to mess with their TP - I'm quite happy to fiddle with it though :p

edit: for those of you of have managed to get one, remember to use the Box app to sign up for your "free for life" 50GB cloud storage (normally $20/month I think), it obviously works across multiple platforms

Ok weird...I just managed to place an order for a touchpad through the HP store; at the full price of £399.00.

    (a) do you reckon it will go through?
    (b) do you reckon I'll be able to wrangle a refund for the difference in price? :S

  • From what I've been reading here and on other forums, HP will only refund the difference for TouchPads purchased before August 19th.

at full price? online stock? Amazon cancels all orders? Something stinks big time round here...
  • Old pages, the links from the home page at HP show the Touchpad to be out of stock.

I think HP would refund the difference. They just haven't refunded the difference in UK due to not selling any direct since the price drop. I'm not sure you will get one as HP are saying they have no more, plus the fact it is full price but you never know. Guess it's worth a try.
