I ordered one from PC World early morning on the 23rd. It's still showing in the 'My Account' section but not been dispatched yet. I sent an email yesterday but no reply..

Am I likely to get it? Or will they probably just cancel the order?

You may be lucky but I though PC World had sold out on 22nd. I could get one on 22nd

VERY interesting... the great thing about this HP Touchpad for me is.

    1. I've discovered this site, the forums and the offers.
    careful, it can be addictive!

    2. How to analyse social media
Or use it to get what we want!.....i cant imagine what it would have been like trying to get Tesco to try and change their mind before the internet. The access to information is just amazing! *she sounds like her nan now!*

    3. Some great monitoring tools for websites and notification tools - had I had them last Monday, I would have had a Touchpad and chances are I would not be writing this...!
which websites are these then? do tell!....might even end up being a sticky!

    4. Filled my head with goodness knows how many little facts and developed an interest for consumer rights and gadgets (which I know a lot about anyway).

    All very worth it!

Glad it was worth it........although if i was in the marketing dept for the Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPad I would be beefing up for a bank holiday special right now!!!

Well welcome to the site, its been interesting reading your posts, and believe me, you will find loads more info/bargains and interesting threads here. People dont always agree on here as you will have seen, but 'usually manage to disagree in a (almost) polite way.

  • I too have been facinated by the whole episode, so many twists and turns it been like a soap opera, having purchased a TP as an early adoptor (direct from HP so balance refund no problem), I have found it a fine device and was keen to obtain another at firesale prices for another family member.

No confirmed joy and I've resorted to purchasing a 32mb version of ebay for £229 (inc. delivery) as I think the product, even in it's discontinued state is worth this.

I have a full price play.com one "in transit" (shipped but not yet delivered), but looks like it'll be going back for a full refund at this stage, wish I'd gone with Tesco's !, hey win some, lose some.

Still don't fully understand why HP decided to sell them for $89 rather than $150, my guess is they would have still sold out within the week, but maybe not been a killer for every resellers site, maybe that's a ploy to get the resellers to buy more (HP) servers so NEXT time they sites stay up ?

Will keep my eye on the play.com saga, but will stop seeking TP's now.

    Good luck anyone still looking.

CPW had not "held back any stock of the TouchPad as part of a strategic move to drive revenues on future promotions."

    Read more: http://www.itproportal.com/2011/08/25/carphone-warehouse-were-not-holding-back-any-hp-touchpad-stock/#ixzz1W50JxD1L

Does that mean the other story isn't true about CPW giving them away 'free' or they just lying?
I dont know about the TP, but I have a feeling they may have struck a deal to get all the pre-3's (which could have included the last of the TP's), so we wont see any bargains with those, unless of course you fancy a contract.

Well, all retailers who sold them have had their sites go down, slowed, call centered inundated etc, it's still happening today. It has been a large loss of revenue to them selling the TP with very little money for them..
One benefit I can see for them is added public knowledge of themselves though. I for one had never head of sites such as clover, cleverboxes, eurostore etc. A small benifit, but still something that may help them in the long term.

Wish that were true! I pretty much updated, this, constantly and still didn't manage to get one. :(

Nearly every site wouldn't load for me (including mobile versions), or if it did it wouldn't complete through to order and Amazon, which did complete, cancelled two days later. Maybe if I had been on the ground I might have been luckier but I couldn't physically take time off from the job but I work at a computer so could monitor it all day and nearly all night. Also, maybe if I had been about on the Monday but I was in the park enjoying the sun with a friend ;) lol

Another link, here(fenestra.co.uk), for tracking. In case it comes back tomorrow.

Yes, i guess for the smaller retailers it has given them advertising but for the most it has been a nightmare and still is for them.

Oh no way, I don't want a contract if CPW get the Pre 3.
