Indeed, well done everyone. That is a right result!0 -
OK... time to take stock.
Let's try and help anyone visiting who is still trying to track down the elusive HP TouchPad.
Am I correct in thinking that we are still expecting/awaiting confirmation of a second wave of stock hitting selected UK retailers?
If so - who should we be monitoring? Is there any prospect of picking one of these up at the discounted prices of £89/£115 from legitimate online retailers?
Thanks

I don't think there website has very accurate stock keeping, they probably don't want to sell too many and then have to tell people their orders are cancelled like Amazon.
Not selling them is probably better for them, rather than wasting staff time contacting people and arguing with those that think they have the right to get that item just because they completed the checkout process.0 -
Hmm strange position to take - when I bought at full price....I'm just glad a friendly MSE poster (you know who you are Stella....) offered a Argos reservation.......... BTW - anyone picking up a reservation or checking (as I did) via their call centre, that they had stock before trekking to the store - be persistent. I got told all reservations had been cancelled, but I asked her to call the store - she did - and got the message that 'that store hadn't received the memo' and that they had 'my' item still reserved.I don't think there website has very accurate stock keeping, they probably don't want to sell too many and then have to tell people their orders are cancelled like Amazon.

Well, all retailers who sold them have had their sites go down, slowed, call centered inundated etc, it's still happening today. It has been a large loss of revenue to them selling the TP with very little money for them. There was unprecedented demand for it & sites, call centers etc have been inundated. The fact is most retailers dealt with the whole situation including HP. There was no communication or solid plan, no proper knowledge of how many TP they had in stock.
The fact is retailers are not obliged to sell at reduced price. Majority of people waited until price went down & the joined the crazy lottery of people who wished to buy one. Not everyone could get one. If you buy at full price, you don't have the right for a price reduction unless that retailer agrees to it. If people like me who tried to get one since Saturday before most people even knew about it, there would have been very few left on Monday for anyone. I did not take that gamble. Luckily customer service is winning through and retailers are eventually giving price difference back.0 -
I was desperately trying to get hold of a TP for the wifey (its wedding anniversary on saturday) on monday evening while we were travelling to the coast but had no joy :-(
Any ideas where I can get one from sharpish?
I live in Burton On Trent but work in Notts and will be going to Derby tomorrow, so if there is anyone with a spare in any of those areas...I'd be most grateful :-D

@ArgosHelpers on Twitter are fab if you want answers regarding Argos related info.
Yes, there have been some very kind people on here giving reservations away which has proved there is still many honest, lovely people in the world. Not everyone puts a long of them on ebay to make a fast buck, thankfully0 -

There's a separate place for codes on here. Not sure if there are any left but you can try.
On this thread it's about finding a TP from retailers but at present no one has any info on any more being available as yet0 -

Well, one major potential avenue was unfortunately just slammed shut a few minutes ago, with this posting on the official HP Palm webstore page for the TouchPad:-
"Update Thur 25th 10pm :
This product is no longer available for sale. We do not expect this position to change.
Customers who had already placed an order with Palm Eurostore have been sent an email communication in relation to their order.
Dear Palm Eurostore customer,
We regret to have to inform you that Palm Eurostore will NOT now be in a position to fulfill orders that have been received for the HP TouchPad 16Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB405UA#ABB ) or the HP TouchPad 32Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB368UA#ABB )."0
