I agree that's better than selling something that does not exist in stock - but for all other systems I've seen, the item is reserved for x minutes whilst in the basked so no one else can purchase it whilst your order is processed - its bad practice if items disappear from the basket - that's like selling it to someone behind you in the queue at the check out desk in a store.0 -
Hi all! Just wondering if anyone's had a delivery from CPW yet? My order status finally changed to processing yesterday and said it should arrive today but it's not changed to dispatched yet! Should I just ignore the delivery date? Thanks!0

My credit card is showing an £89 reduction in available credit...
Maybe I will be getting my Touchpad from CPW? (Time on my order confirmation e-mail was 19:28 Monday)
The order tracker hasn't moved to processing yet though.0 -

My understanding of the Distance Selling Regulations is that anything returned under those rules must be in an unopened/as-new condition so a retailer can resell the item as new without loss to them. The reason the DSR allows returns is, unlike in a shop, you can't look at the boxed/packaged item prior to purchase and assess suitability, it's to try to place the purchase on an equal footing to one made in a shop, not to give people an opportunity to try-reject-return.

I would say that you are getting it. Carphone have put on their website that they are currently out of stock... HP are giving an update Friday and will be replenshing stock to certain retailers and CPW and PCW are two that have been named frequently as being those suppliers who will get stock... so maybe that's why you've been charged and the tracker won't update till the stock arrives today.
Looks like you have your touchpad soon then...
Also, I can see PCW using the touchpad as an opportunity to draw people in to the store (maybe collect at store only - while stocks last!) for the bank holiday to increase foot fall and possibly bump up sales in other areas of the business... like maybe, iPads? They need to ditch stock in prep for the iPad 3.0 -

If Dixons knew they were not getting any more in stock they'd just remove it from the page or do the usual way of resolving out of stock items (I.E you click on a link and it takes you to a page saying not in stock, but heres a alternative). The've probably specifically recoded the HP page so its unclickable for more information button. And once they get a significant order of stock in they'll either do what they did last time and announce it several hours before the price drops with a time, or slowly release stock over the course of a day. Or if there is enough stock, they will distribute to physical stores so its equal opportunities.
Hell they might even have a super special Bank Holiday Monday.
And to those saying Dixons/Pcworld online had no issues, you are wrong, they had a slight issue where the item would disappear from your basket if someone had already purchased it, (due to how the order system works) but, they didn't sell you what they didn't have which is much better as you know you didn't get one so you can continue the search, (unlike Expansys and Amazon which just canceled orders)
Ive missed out on this big time, would you say its worth going down to pc world at weekend to ask if there have any in stock0 -

Totally understand that and the product is at home totally unopened.
My comment was that seeing as the price has been reduced by HP to £89/£115 Tesco can no longer sell these returns for the original price they will have to sell it at £89/£115. They can choose to put it back up at original price but it just wont sell and if there are lucky to catch 1 or 2 people unawares is that correct of them?
If they are going to sell at the discounted price then why not just refund the difference now for those with it in their possession or implement a refund, buy back scheme where I can take it back and immediately buy it back at the new discounted price? Surely that is their easiest option...right? Maybe I am missing something.Spend now, Save Later!!!! :beer:0 -
No, any stock they do have would be sold out by now. if they have any they'll be at the distribution centre. I'll see what I can find out on Friday.0

I have managed to acquire a 16GB Touchpad from Comet - I originally paid for a 32GB but when I got there they somehow didn't have it. Apparently they took 30 payments for 10 Touchpads due to delay in the system between stores.
After missing out on the online craze I went into a Comet store during a quiet time and had a long chat with a customer service rep (somewhat befriended). The rep was able to check incoming delivery stock around the cities I was available to go to and allow me to purchase one for the incoming delivery. In my case I bought it on Tuesday afternoon for stock that was coming in for delivery on Wednesday. Some stores get their deliveries Tue/Thur and some get it Wed/Fri. I tried to buy more later but they had all gone (should have bought on the spot). I was also informed that comet stores around the country would be getting more stock starting 31st September. I did the same with Argos but although I was not able to buy any obviously, I was shown the stock indications on the computer and it said that more stock would be arriving 11 September for that particular store - strange that it was so far away but the rep said it was because other main argos stores would have higher priority. Hope this was helpful.
Also if anyone would like to swap a 32GB for a 16GB and I can fund the difference - it would be much appreciated. It remains unopened & untouched just sitting there in a cardboard box...staring at me.0
