HP TouchPad

I posted this earlier today, but it'll be lost amongst all the reservation codes by now. Some of the stock is apparently going to staples, but it's all been allocated to back orders. I had one order with them go through, where only one was cancelled, the other is coming in the new delivery (allegedly). They were also (again, allegedly) reducing orders of more then one touchpad down to one per person, which implies they were trying to stretch the stock coming in to make it cover the sales they'd made (plus, y'know, cancelling orders mplies they have none spare even after that).
So even though Staples supposedly will have a delivery, the touchpads concerned wont be on sale.If it rains, it rains.

I do not think you can class someone willing to buy a tablet PC as poor!!! I thought a poor person will have other priorities
No I don't think you can. But it is a cheeky gamble. I could have saved alot of time & effort & bought a load full price on Saturday instead of trawling through sites, twitter, numerous websites looking for one before most people were even aware of this. Instead I like most entered the lottery of TP owning by waiting for prices to drop then trying to get one online (failed).
Luckily most retailers have come good and given price difference back, which is great, fair customer service.
As I thought may happen in some stores others are not playing along, looking to make money rather than good will. Other retailers sold for a little extra at around £35 extra for 32gb etc as they can do if they wish.0 -
No more stock updates on CPW or PCW etc.
Hope nothing happens overnight.0 -

That's good. Just save the frustration tomorrow for retailers0 -

This is exactly when stocks change, in the middle of the night!0 -
Don't know if this has been up all day, but if you search HP touchpad on PC world, at the bottom it says 'People who viewed HP TouchPad Case then bought'
and offers the 16GB and 32GB touchpads at their respective discounted prices, with more info clickable, and home delivery and collect in store both available for each size. Naturally, when you click on them, you get sent to the search for a tablet. But if this is new...If it rains, it rains.

No, this is normal for them. When it doesn't find the product it goes to the standard tablets page.0 -

It's more the fact that they were saying it was in stock for delivery and collect at store that surprised me.If it rains, it rains.

Maybe this is why tesco wont reduce the price

Why on Earth would anyone stock the HP TouchPad?
Surely, as a retailer, you’d rather be selling £400 iPads wouldn’t you? And if the TouchPad is killing your website, you’ll be losing out on all those lovely, lovely sales from students wanting to buy MacBooks for the start of their university term.
And that’s exactly what’s happened with Sites like Dabs, Comet, Staples and the BT Shop who have reportedly found their websites to be hugely slowed thanks to interest in the TouchPad, and indeed, Equanet and Staples found their sites going down completely.
All because they’re trying to offload of product that’s invariably cannibalising other sales?
Yeah you're right. But if they don't drop their price, they'll get lots of returns. It's not like they'll still be able to sell the returns on at the £3/4xx price. Darned if they do, darned if they don't kind of situation??0
