I would also guess that there were people who bought the TouchPad from Tesco at full price before HP decided to withdraw the product from market.

I can't believe the greed of such rich people expecting to get a refund from Tesco just because their product has been discontinued and is therefore virtually worthless - well done Tesco, protector of the poor.

Yeah I agree, I'd hope HP and partners announce something similar like as they did in America. There must be lots who feel a bit vulnerable/shafted.
  • Looby,

I'm unsure what you're trying to attain here. I shall move my efforts to outside of MSE because it is clearly upsetting people.

Apologies all, see you later and good luck.

HP in USA gave money back to those who bought direct which they didn't sell direct with price cut here. It was down to initial retailers to refund the difference as I said in earlier post. There are no guarantees

Fair points above and each to their own.

As for wanting the thread back on track, perhaps people could stop moaning about Tesco not redcung their price on a product they no longer have any stock of. Surely you should all be gpoing to HP for the refund directly now.

Agree. I think we've done the Tesco thing and drawn conclusions. There appears to be nothing more to add to that debate for now.

So... delivery of more stock.... soon I hope.
  • To get back on topic - and to help any people who are visiting the MSE forums to try and get hold of a reduced price HP TouchPad - does anyone have any strategies left?

Are we waiting for midnight to see if any more appear on the websites of PCWorld, CarphoneWarehouse, etc?

Or is it game over until any further announcements from retailers later in the week?
  • I added to the Tesco facebook page as well - not very eloquently mind you (pressed enter before re-reading what I wrote) - need to get some sleep.

    Me:
Does Tesco not believe in customer goodwill and offer refund to those that paid full price for the HP Touchpad even though it is refunded. Argos have taken this action - does Tesco not believe in doing the same?

    Me again:
What is Tesco's stance on goodwill for their TouchPad customers?

Tesco Customer Care (after taking a approx 20 mins)
I currently don’t have any information on this, but I’ll chase this up and get back to you.

    Thanks,
    Peter-Customer care

This sounds to me he recognises the potential for a PR !!!!-up and will refer to someone else.

Oh well... will have to wait and see. Dont get facebook at work so me miss the response or they wont respond at all.

Anyone else fancy adding to the facebook tomorrow?

I posted a page or two back that there will be an announcement on Friday - this was on the HP website. There is also a blog post (a few pages back) that you can link to.

Basically there will be more stock... and there will also be the launch of the HP Pre 3 phone.... reduced massively... that's on another thread...

Strategies? I guess would be to check twitter, check sites like CPW and PCWorld... Amazon, Dabs, Argos will not be restocking apparently....

We could get into a debate about the capitalist world we live in but I dont agree with that so wont go there.

Because I had the money in my account doesn't mean I can afford to buy this product at that price. Many people would have purchased it on a credit card and a refund before the month is out means they have lost absolutely nothing.

Also please define rich and poor in this circumstance when we are debating a tablet which at best is an luxury product that you could live without. Not sure anyone could describe themselves as poor an be chansing a tablet even if its costs £89 or £115

There are surprising definitions of poverty and what counts as such these days, according to our government.
The role of IT is increasing rapidly in our country and it is becoming much harder to live without internet access. An £89 tablet is about the cheapest way to do that conveniently. As a country, we provide aid overseas and some of that aid is currently being used to improve access to mobile internet services, in particular financial services, to Pakistan.

I think a £400 tablet is a luxury item but when the price dropped it became accessible to most.

I also don't think this is the place for the debate and I hope the price on your tablet is refunded by HP.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this PS! I'd encourage anyone else to post there if you feel equally as dissatisfied.

    Thanks again PS!
