It depends whether Tesco have received the credit from HP. If they haven't, then why should they gift you £300 just because you took a gamble that they might drop the price?

I wonder if Martin can tweet @UKTesco and tell them to sort their act out. Profits are short sighted; Customer Goodwill is where they want to be aiming.

Starting to retweet, not sure how to get this snowballing....

Go to their facebook page, click like and then write your message... but get others to do the same too. You cannot write directly on their wall. You can only write in the comments section but it will get noticed.

Something along the lines of 'fair pricing for the HP Touchpad' Tesco, why will you not honour the price drop when all competitors have. Even HP have released a statement saying they expect their retail partners to reduce the costs of the tablets.

This is unfair to us, the loyal customer.

That may help you... reword and change... It was off the top of my head....

If you have no joy, return the Touchpad and wait for new stock. Tesco do not have to reduce the price so getting angry is pointless but I do understand your frustration....

Re the Tesco farce. You'd be bonkers to keep the tablet at the given price... seeing as Tesco will not budge.

    You have two options.

    1. Wait for the new HP retail stock to arrive and purchase one (not 10, save some for other people... :)). Returning your Tesco Touchpad, unopened to the store requesting a refund (that will screw em up I think).

    2. Take the Tesco Touchpad back and spend a little extra on a touchpad from eBay.

Tesco are not wrong in charging you, despite it being unfair. If you are not happy I would return it and hold out for another model. It is not the end of the world and by taking it back, you'll be giving them a headache as they'll have to re sell them... and guess what, not many will pay the full price. They are treating you like fools so you should return the favour...

Still gonna wait it out. I would be a bit shocked it Tesco doesn't budge but it wont be the end of the world. Will just wait til next year for a Windows 8 tablet as previously planned.

Not confident on new HP stock arriving as the hp page linked from the t3 and techradar articles is distinctly US and not neccessarily UK or Global.

Can you confirm a specific UK announcement? Want to try again in case Tesco do not budge.

I wanted one of these but didn't get one either, like the majority of people but I have to say I was so surprised when people were buying them at the full price a couple of days ago in the hope that the discounted price would be honoured. I'm glad I refused to take that risk. It is no good complaining now that Tesco etc. are not playing ball.

I do hope that you all either get a full refund or get it at the discounted price but I also hope you will learn from it in future.

    From the HP site....

OUT OF STOCK! Update Wed 24th 10am : Sorry, No stock will be available for order for the remainder of this week Next Update: Fri 26th 10am. Customer Service staff will not have any further information - it will be communicated directly here on this page.

I can't post links but, when they have stock, the slected retailers will be getting some too.... best bet CPW and PCWorld.... to name a couple....

And keep an eye on twitter... it's vital you do that to be in with a chance...

Managed to get one but it was a proper hassle.

I had got my parents to buy one at full price from Argos on Monday (on a reservation I got near their homeaddress none near mine available). Sent them in today to get a refund of difference or failing that take the item back (guessed that store manager would at least want one for themselves and would take it back). They were flatly told no refunds and they couldn't have the difference back. They were passed on a telephone number for HP (that was wrong and was missing a number). Commence them ringing me worried, and me ringing argos customer service to complain. Nice lady at ARgos finace deptartment (Thank you Zoe if you're reading this, a voice of reason!) declared that their policy is actually to refund difference within 30 days if the price changes.

Back on phone to parents, them back to store ready to cause merry hell and the staff had changed and refunded money no issues and were lovely! I got one. but it was a proper hassle and although it was only £115, given the amount of time I spent looking for one (solidly since Saturday morning) even paying myself only minimu wage it cost me at least £150 in man hours! next time I'll go to a job agency, get a temp job (I have a normal job as well!) work till I've earned a few hundred quid and buy something not on offer!

    Nask

Yeah totally, it's really shown how weak the infrastructure of the majroty of the internet is. Even Amazon barely held it together. I've read several posts noting the irony that HP will have provided many of these servers!

I figured when Argos announced their reduction Tescos would have too - seemed like one of the last major retailers to drop their prices. Have also read a couple of comments noting that Tesco removed its price match comparison with Currys when the Touchpad deal was announced. I can't personally substantiate that though.
I was watching when they did that.. shows how crap they are to be honest. Ironically they left the 99p saving against the other retailers (even though it was also wrong!)

Yeah, really stingy for a multi-billion pound company!!

What I think is amusing about companies like Tesco is the considerable effort they put into getting customer "loyalty".

But it's a different story when their customers expect Tesco to reciprocate.

Isn't it time Tesco did the right thing for their customers: lower the TouchPad price in line with other retailers and refund the difference to those who paid full price for a discontinued item that is being offloaded by the manufacturers?

Everyone else has - except for some particularly unscrupulous dealers like play.com.
