HP TouchPad

I am very surprised to hear that Tesco are taking such a hard line here. HP have said that they will refund the difference for those that purchased the tablet since way back in June and, expect their retail partners to do the same... but of course, they do not have to do this.
I would approach Tesco with this line also... I cannot find the article where I saw this but, you may find it on here and glean some more information to help when arguing your case...
What may help is visiting their Facebook site and posting your concerns on there. Collectively you will have more clout and they will listen...
I arranged something similar at the time of the phone hacking scandal and Tesco stuck by the NoW.... surprisingly because one of their board sit on the board of Sky... anyway, I digress....
Try the above and if they say they won't honour it, tell them that HP have said you contact the retailer you purchased from for the refund... I mean this is coming direct from HP.0 -
What's incorrect?
They're fine for CDs and DVDs, but never ever buy anything expensive from them unless you're prepared to send them back to the manufacturer if they become faulty after 30 days.
I agree, poor after service if something breaks, go wrong etc. I just buy dvd's, cds, t shirts from there now. Amazon are much better use them for larger/electronic items. Know from bad experience too.
Plus you'll be out of pocket sending it back to them, I'm sure by tracked post.0 -
Sure they can, Tesco already have their own eBay outlet.
Haha really! Shows what I know eh :rotfl:
But you get my point...it seems to me like they're going to have to take a hit somewhere along the line but it feels like they're putting it all on to the customer... a bit like the current and recent governments with bank bailouts (OK maybe that's a bit of a far fetched example!)0 -

If others struggle to return to Tesco when you're doing it within acceptable bounds i.e. returning an unopened Touchpad within 28 days, then yes, I'd be prepared to assist by offering whatever advice and contacts I have, provided of course I have had to do the same (as otherwise I would not have much idea about it).
And likewise, I'll update this thread with any news I have be it success or failure.0 -

I didn't realise HP had announced that in the UK for their customers. Makes it seem even more peculiar Tescos aren't following suit.
I've been keeping an eye on Twitter but there doesn't seem much action about Tesco and Touchpads on it. I'd post on Facebook but I'm one of the few ppl in the country that doesn't have an account!0 -
If you bought from say Tesco at full price and they wont give you the price difference, I'm not sure that HP will. Why would they as it would mean loosing twice the amount by HP.
Are Tesco not getting them direct from HP? Surely this would mean you'd get the difference.
Just because retailers in USA did something doesn't mean they will here. There are different laws in each country.
The fact is, if you bought one full price you bought it full price knowing it was a risk. The problem being there are complicated laws, opt outs of different shops with symbols etc. It is difficult.
Maybe they think, if people are willing to pay full price why discount it?
If you bought in a shop it is harder as you do not come under distance selling.
Good luck to all, hope you all get your money back. I wasn't that brave or rich to chance it.0 -

From what I've read, HP in America weren't obligated to offer a refund to existing HP TP owners, it was more of a customer service/policy thing. No reason why they shouldn't do the same thing here (let me know if I'm wrong though). Agree tho...commercial law...yak!
Surely Tesco will realise they're about to get lots of returns if they don't discount it. And, once people do return them, it's not like they can sell them at the original RRP. Unless they're just going to send them back to HP or somewhere?0 -
