Yeah that's my plan. The manager there is expecting me to come back if there is no price drop as I've discussed with him the situation. As I said before he agrees with me and is confused himself why the powers above him haven't given a clear answer.

If you have trouble returning it, DM me and I'll tell you the manager's name/store and perhaps your store can get in touch. I haven't posted his details on here because the guy is doing me a massive favour (going to call me as soon as he finds out more) and I'm sure he doesn't want a deluge of requests!

Cheers mate! Yeah I think you've done a good thing not posting his details. Not his fault! Shoddy situation when even not even store managers know what the deal is or why they're not doing the same as the majority of all the other major retailers.

Just phoned tesco direct and their insisting if you agreed to purchase at the original price then you entered into a contract on that basis. No refunds. Seems like shoddy customer service to me, hope they recieve some negative press for this.

I think you have been misinformed. They are obliged to give you refund if you take back your Touchpad unopened within 28 days of your order. Shipping cost too, if you return it within 7 days as per DSR.

I just spoke to Tesco on phone re possible return of touchpad and 28days etc I also and got the name of store manager on tonight. I explained my worry re return of goods and the man on other end of the phone said it was his understanding that you had 28days return of goods 'if change of mind' re product. He did suggest calling Tesco Direct Aftersales Care also. My hope is fading.......

    Cheers for letting us know!

Yeah I agree with US. I'm no DSR expert but he doesn't sound too confident either way, especially if he's looking to pass you over to another department - they should have categorical guidelines about these things.

That is incorrect. From the Play.com website:

    Returns
We want you to be happy every time you shop with us, but if you ever need to return anything, we're here to make things as easy and convenient as possible.
If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return the item to us in its original condition within 30 days of receipt and we'll issue a full refund, or replace the item, if preferred.

    or

    http://www.play.com/ProductOutline.aspx?title=20645782&r=PCSH

What's incorrect? As I said, they operate a 30 day return policy. If you have a problem within 30 days you're fine - anything longer than that, which is when most problems arise, and they won't be remotely interested.

I can tell you that from bitter experience, and anyone who's ever had a problem with a large item bought from Play will confirm that.

They're fine for CDs and DVDs, but never ever buy anything expensive from them unless you're prepared to send them back to the manufacturer if they become faulty after 30 days.

Anybody buying from Play is taking a huge gamble anyway. They operate a 30 day return policy, after which you're completely on your own with any faults, having to deal direct with the manufacturer.

I actually was saying people who bought from play.com are worried about getting money back.

Then saying getting a refund was about other shops but as I said buying at full price is at your own risk. If you are buying something clearly market at full price, it's a gamble.

I tried to get 1 since the weekend, kept missing it when price reductions happened. There was no way I would buy full price in the hope, I'd get money back. It's like a lottery, everyone is online trying to buy but only some will get one.

The worry is if you return an item & are lucky enough to get your money back if the retailer is happy to do so, it doesn't mean you'll get to buy it again. In Argos it is up to the managers.

The Touchpad is exempt from Argos 30 day money back guarantee. Don't know if Tesco have such a thing.

Exactly, it's only going to end with lots of unhappy customers who return lots of Touchpads and them losing lots of money (well, lots to me haha!) and some of their reputation. They're a market leader. It's not like they can put them all on eBay after they've all been returned! Why would Dixons Group do it but not Tescos??

Sure they can, Tesco already have their own eBay outlet.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your pre-order for the HP TouchPad. Unfortunately, due
to the unprecedented demand for this gadget, stock levels across the
UK and Europe are incredibly low.

We wanted to let you know that we are working extremely hard to get
our hands on more stock as we know how popular the TouchPad has
become. Please bear with us while we try and secure more TouchPads,
and we promise to keep you up to date if and when stock arrives.

If we are unable to complete your order please rest assured that you
will receive a full and complete refund.

We sincerely apologise for the delay, but hope to be able to let you
know for certain the situation in regards to your order very soon.

    Kind regards,

    Zoe
