I'd be interested to hear what response you get
To me, it seems like Tesco really needs to put out some sort of official announcement about this either way. Unless they're just hoping that ppl will get itchy fingers and keep their Touchpads?? I think this week has proved that the British public are a bit too savvy for that these days!!0 -
Just phoned tesco direct and their insisting if you agreed to purchase at the original price then you entered into a contract on that basis. No refunds. Seems like shoddy customer service to me, hope they recieve some negative press for this.0

Tesco is another matter however... that company just stinks... they bang on about every little helping but they are ruthless over the most random sales...
Check twitter etc for updates. I am doing this and finding it very helpful. I wish I'd done it on Monday.
Haha yeah, they're being remarkably inconsistent this time around. I've never really had any bother with Tesco before but I guess little things like this really show the true calibre of a company. It's not like they're strapped for cash eh!!
I've been keeping an eye on Twitter too. It's bloody handy isn't it. You can see why the gov is already thinking about legislation to weaken its effectiveness...hawsecroft wrote: »I had the Direct manager at my store explicitly say that there is a 28 day return policy on the unit provided it is in resellable condition. He said the only problem I may come across is the definition of resellable depends on who you talk to so for safe reason he said keep it sealed in box.
Thanks for the info. Yeah keep in wrapping, handle with gloves till we find anything else out! Will you just return it to the store you picked it up at??0 -

It is true they're not obliged to offer a refund after a price drop, but provided you're within the return period there should be nothing stopping you from returning you device for a refund (provided it is unused) and buying "another" one (which may happen to be the one you've just returned).0 -
I just spoke to Tesco on phone re possible return of touchpad and 28days etc I also and got the name of store manager on tonight. I explained my worry re return of goods and the man on other end of the phone said it was his understanding that you had 28days return of goods 'if change of mind' re product. He did suggest calling Tesco Direct Aftersales Care also. My hope is fading.......0

Yeah that's all true...as well as for all the other companies who dropped their prices and offered refunds on the difference!
I think they will. I think people will speak with their feet. I know it won't make a dent in their profits, but I can imagine a good few users going elsewhere for their electrical purchases.
Out of interest, did you ask why they weren't dropping their prices when lots of others have?0 -

Yeah that's my plan. The manager there is expecting me to come back if there is no price drop as I've discussed with him the situation. As I said before he agrees with me and is confused himself why the powers above him haven't given a clear answer.
If you have trouble returning it, DM me and I'll tell you the manager's name/store and perhaps your store can get in touch. I haven't posted his details on here because the guy is doing me a massive favour (going to call me as soon as he finds out more) and I'm sure he doesn't want a deluge of requests!0 -
I'm fuming, phoned Argos to check that my reservation for a 16GB touchpad was in store ready to collect as per the text message I was sent and was told that the store had not received the expected stock and there was nothing there for me to collect. I reserved on Sunday for collection between today and Tuesday. Back on the hunt.
same thing happened to me, except i went to my local store to be told by rude girl that it could be delivered to store between now and Saturday and check back. Told her i didn't want to keep leaving work early to try and get there so asked for number only to be given a till receipt with customer service
Rung the 0845 no and lovely lady rung store to find out only to ring back to say they are cancelling all orders - if so why did rude girl at Argos not say so? rather me having to call customer service- such shoddy service. They need to re-train their staff (although customer service was kind)0 -
Anybody buying from Play is taking a huge gamble anyway. They operate a 30 day return policy, after which you're completely on your own with any faults, having to deal direct with the manufacturer.
UK Sale of Goods Acts don't apply and neither do the distance selling regulations (because they're Jersey based).
Deal with Play very much at your own risk.
That is incorrect. From the Play.com website:
Returns
We want you to be happy every time you shop with us, but if you ever need to return anything, we're here to make things as easy and convenient as possible.
If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return the item to us in its original condition within 30 days of receipt and we'll issue a full refund, or replace the item, if preferred.
