The web is currently buzzing with the news that HP are discontinuing all of their webOS smartphones and tablets.

As a result of this, the TouchPad has been on sale at massively reduced prices today in the US: $99 for the 16 GB Wi-Fi version, $149 for the 32GB version. Needless to say, US shops BestBuy, Walmart and Amazon have all sold out at these prices.

But the prices haven't come down in the UK yet. PCWorld, Amazon and Tesco are all offering the 16GB version with only £50 off the RRP of £399.

If anyone has any news of great UK deals on the HP TouchPad could you post them here asap?

    Many thanks

    martin451. Did you get one?
  • Hi - for those to it is relevant to - i have just had a call from dixons explaining they have had more stock today to fulfil the orders that have already been made and they will be price matching if you ordered before the price decrease (like me) via a refund to be processed in 'due course' and will be despatched in the next day or two. i'm obviously very very happy!!!
  • Been a while since I been on here.

I also bought from Tesco Direct on Monday at full price. Touchpad due to be delivered today. Guess it was unfortunate I chose Tesco instead of Argos. I phoned this morning to see if they would be refunding the difference as it has been reported in the media and other retailers were either dropping price or refunding difference.

The customer service lady said they would not as I purchased before they were notified - find that hard to believe. She said I could either refuse delivery or return to the store.

Not looking good at the moment but I guess if anyone who did the same kept at Tesco and highlight the number of returns they would get then they would either have to sell at the reduced price anyway or eventually return to HP, then we might get somewhere. I have emailed their customer services in hope that it may reach someone with more authority.

Doesn't make sense for them not to follow Argos' lead.

Has any one got a Argos Reservation code in Basingstoke / Farnborough / Woking area. Please PM me. I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been trying since Sunday but couldn't manage one. I ordered on from Tesco but hopes are fading as they are not dropping the price.

    Thanks
  • Any Argos reservations for London / Guildford / Woking would also be appreciated.

    PM me please! :)

Does anybody have a reservation code or a spare tablet they are willing to sell in the Cambridgeshire/Bedford/Milton Keynes areas?

My Amazon order has dried up... and I would be most grateful.

    Thank you,

    Daniel.
  • Prodigal $on,

    I agree we're in a bit of a catch 22.

We hold on to full price devices, Tesco thinks they've sold them all, no need for price drop.

We return some then they might need to price drop to shift the returned models. But return means you lose your guarantee.

OR Tesco just return them to HP which would be frustrating, but this is where I thought the liquidation order basically says HP doesn't want to see them again so shift 'em quick!

Can someone tell me what is happening at Argos. If you reserved at the full price are they now letting you have them at the reduced price?

Yes - reduced price and refund the difference if you've already paid.

Yes because pay for the item in store and mostly it's updated price.
