  • Just eating my turnip and sweet potato soup with some wholemeal bread for lunch. Absolutely yummy and I have used all the scrapings, skins, etc to make a vegetable stock that is bubbling away nicely.

Off to make some cottage pie too if I can put my book down! I haven't had time to read recently and I realise just how much I miss it.

Hope Sunday is being good to you. x

Afternoon everyone, hope everyone is well, your kitchen is lovely Aussielass, absolutely stunning and a style I love too, utterly jealous, I would love a nice kitchen! Welcome Paulie'sGirl, redspot24, prophecy grrl and donnajt!

I had a bad nights sleep, DP had to be up early for his RC racing and woke every 20 minutes or so fumbling about checking the time from 1am, driving me barmy! I've had nothing to eat yet as don't feel too clever, think I should get something now before I flop to the floor. But good news is no cigarettes either. I've put my coat in the washing machine as I noticed this morning it stinks of smoke! Strange what you don't notice until you quit.

A day in with housework, been doing it since I got up so having 5 minutes, and sorting kids stuff for school out today, need to sort through what they do have and if they really do need the list of 'to buy' items I wrote out yesterday. See if I can be OS and instead of binning what is damaged or badly stained see if I can fix it or get the marks out. If it's not repairable etc they will become rags :)

Going to make home made burrittos for tea, well try to, once DP gets in. Need to get the kids to bed early for tomorrow.
One day I might be more organised...........

Back from my shopping trip a few £££ lighter! Didn't get much - the john rocha trousers were half price (£22.50) so snapped them up. There was a button missing, so I was a good/cheeky mse-er & asked for more discount & got them for £20 :D If you don't ask, you don't get.
Also bought a new white shirt for work (£9 reduced from £19, M&S) and a couple of girlie make up bits from Woolies that were half price. They can go in the present box for sisters/neices etc.
Nearly all my freecycle offerings are being picked up this aft, only the bathroom cabinet is left.

Aussielass - I guess she's a bit old to train now! How are you doing for water over there at the mo? When we were there things were looking a bit dry - I didn't believe my friend when she said that odd & even numbers of the street have designated days to wash the car etc!

Hello everyone and I hope you're all having a lazy/productive (choose one or both) day! :rotfl:

I went to church this morning with eldest DD10. I usually teach Sunday School but the children's groups haven't returned yet so I had a nice restful time. :T
I've been quite busy today (makes up for the past two weeks) and so far...
    -stripped/washed/dried bedding
-written my shopping list for tomorrow
-cleaned and tidied around including a kitchen cupboard sort-out
-made the compulsory bacon butties for sunday lunch
-made the packed lunches for tomorrow
-chopped potatoes/veg for tonight's evening meal which is hm chicken and leek pie, potatoes, carrot+swede with smoothies
-written my weekly planning for school (I teach part-time/job-share)

We are taking the kids swimming this afternoon as we are feeling guilty about the general lack of family exercise over the past two weeks. :o

I've still got my??(the family's) ironing to do so I will probably do that tonight whilst watching the TV.

Good Afternoon All - Hope we are well

Forgot to say earlier - Aussielass - your kitchen looks great, I wish I got a big kitchen. I finally got rid of the old council cupboardsa few months ago, as I was offered a 3yr old Moben kitchen, complete with breakfast bar, work tops, pantry unit & wall units, for £20. My cousin gave me a double sink, I had to buy a mixer tap, so had a whole new(ish) kitchen for less than £60. Its no where near as nice as your's, but It'll do for a few more yrs.

I woke OH up when I was cleaning the bathroom (shame), Ive cleaned the downstairs loo, swept & mopped hall & kitchen, polished in the front room, WM & TD on, and gutted my kitchen work tops and bleached & stardrop every where, just had a shower and finally got dressed. OH said he'll hoover front room, stairs & landing for me. He's watching football at the moment. So we will see.

Just about to make a start on dinner. But I will do the ironing first.

    Have a good day everyone
Take care & love as usual xxx

Hello to everyone! I have been posting on other threads for a few weeks, but am a newbie to the Daily. Fascinated to read what you all do, and reassured that it sounds much like my weekend - thought I was the only one chasing my tail from Friday evening to Monday morning!:rotfl: However, I am better off than many, having now no DD or DS to think about - all grown up and gone (DS to Australia 3 years ago, DD in local area still but doing own thing with no input needed from mum).
I do have disabled OH tho, and as I live in remote, very rural cottage (no mains water, drainage etc, electricity a bit dodgy at times, no broadband, no pavement, street lights or even tarmac road, no neighbours!) it means I have to do stuff daily like getting logs, coal, water in, clean out fires etc etc. Not complaining, we live here from choice and you should see it in summer - beautiful!
Even though I live in the 19th century, I do work in the 21st century!:D
I shall check out Daily Post every day in future, nice and chatty and lots of friendly peeps.
    Cheers to you all. :T

Carbonel you have the life I want, although I may baulk at the no broadband. My in-laws live in Shropshire too, we often come up for a visit and never want to go home.
