Uncles funeral went well, will tell you about it maybe tomorrow struggling a little bit at the mo.Was really upset yesterday but felt much better when I went to bed but had one of those "real time" dreams about nothing much at all just me and mum shopping in a market and chatting, it was so real. Was devistated when I actully woke up and reailised that I had been dreaming! DH back to school tomorrow he is just doing his preparations(ironing his shirt, checking that he has everything he needs in his school bag, making sure his shoes are polished-they are!) we are having parsnip soup just need to find recipie(!), and then later cheese and onion pasta(real comfort food) Anyway have a great day, stay safe and warm. Furry gang all safe and asleep. Just want to say thank you to everybody, you are all so nice and kind it really means a lot at the moment. Thank you.

:hello: to Pauliesfirs, Redspot24, prophecy_grrl and donnajt (sorry if I've missed someone the thread was longer than I thought it would be)

    Happy anniversary Pooky.

Where has the day gone. Took the kids to the park after church, fed them and then DH faffed!!!!

Men sure know how to waste time. We discussed last night that he would take DS out and buy a printer today. He was on the PC most of the night, but he decides at 2:55 today, when DS is all ready in coat and shoes, that he's going to check out the reviews of different printers (he doesn't even know what's in the shop!). Then comes down and announces he has to get petrol, then he's going to see what's in Asda and then go to Staples. MEN. The shops close at 4!!!!! My dad's the same - where do they get this idea that time is elastic? Or maybe it stands still for them.

Aussie - how are you going to leave that kitchen. I would love a new kitchen. Most of my budgeting and mseing is geared towards saving for a new kitchen eventually. Moben quoted £16000 last year. So I had to tell them to go away. I'm sure we'll get one cheaper but at least I know what kind of sums I have to do. (It's not as if I wanted anything special - and I want to keep my own appliances).

take care all - off to have a nose around.:D

Hello everyone. I am having one of those procrastination days and I think it is to do with the very grey weather and the rain. I kind of wish it would get cold and snow so that it would brighten up. Not a good time of the year for those people who suffer with the SAD syndrome. I`m always happy and optimistic and if I`ve reached a procrastination stage then there are people out there who are really suffering with winter depression

I`ve got a bag of jerusalem artichokes languishing in the veg rack. I know they can make people f**t lol in fact my dd made soup for her and her dh last year with the whold bag full and they could have taken off for the moon the next day. I used 2 small ones with two small potatoes, a celery stick, onions and marigold stock powder. A 15 min cook and a whizz in the liquidiser. It was so scrummy and I`m not expecting problems

I have done a bit of drawer tidying and that`s about it. What a waste of a day

carbonel we used to live in a cottage like that. 1750, no mains water and drainage etc. We were there in n wales, so isolated with 2 tiny children. The water used to run dry and I had to collect drips running down the hill by using a cut poly bag to channel it into a bucket. I had a brilliant aga though and used to make bread all day long. I was only 26 years old. Gosh it is so easy to only remember the good things in life. It was a lovely setting but so lonely for a young mum

Oh well next stop today will be to get the evening meal. Then watch tv and read before bed. I think I was a dormouse in another life and I`m semi-hibernating now. I hope tomorrow is more productive

    Hello everyone,

well, had big plans for getting stuff done today, but most of it has gone undone (at least by me). Didn't sleep the best, and woke up feeling rather sick  Just hope it goes away by tomorrow!

Have been out to the shop though, and have got some housework done between myself and OH, so not completely wasted the day (though I admit he's done more than me) ;) Think I'll just spend the rest of the day taking it easy - dinner is mince so won't be too taxing to cook, and will be something nice to eat :p

*hugs* to all, take or leave as usual :D

Well those dreaded wardrobes were sorted through and I have enough uniform stuff for 4 kids rather than 2, I mean 12 maybe more poloshirts EACH when they go to school 5 days a week is just crazy! So won't be spending the £50 uniform money I had put aside! Haven't been shopping, kids are having tea then bath time ready for back to school tomorrow :D must find DS2s gym shoes and bag, no idea where they are!

Carbonel welcome, your home sounds perfect, would love a 'middle of nowhere' home :) some may say lonely but I would probably just call it peaceful!

Puppy driving me insane, toilet training just isn't going well and she sucks up more than the Dyson!
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hello Everyone,

Squishy, I am having a similar day to you. I woke up and feel 'yuck' so I am taking it easy, with the heat pad over my aching joints. I have got as far as putting the WM on and that's about it.

I did get to the farm shop yesterday and bought my weekly veg. I am enjoying buying veg that is in season and from the UK. I am going to have a look at my gardening books and the web to work out the best way of getting started with growing some of my own vegetables this year.

I'll be off now, I need to hem some work trousers and put the BM on again! There's only the two of us, but the bread is so scrummy we are getting through a loaf in 1 1/2 days to 2 days. I made the sandwich loaf yesterday and it makes very tasty toast.

    Have a good Sunday evening,

    Hiya all :hello:

Ohhhh haven't been here for a few days :(.

Aussielass, I love your kitchen but...... I am sooooo envious!;)

Well, I have spent a few days doing an inventory of the stuff I have: clothes, books, CDs, DVDs, kitchen stuff, toiletries etc. I had already done a good clear out so now it's a matter of reorganising everything to maximise my space.

I have come to the conclusion that I needn't waste any more money buying stuff THIS YEAR, except groceries of course. I need a new padded coat for my bad weather surveys but that's about it, other than that I shall be very strict withg myself: NO IMPULSE BUYING.

This coming week I have to do my tax return, but that won't take me more than an hour as I have all my records up to date and organised. AND I already know that the taxman owes me about £1000, so... :j
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Another person still laid low by a virus here. I am due back at work tomorrow but at present doubt if I can manage the walk from the car to the front door. Haven't even dressed today.
Made pancakes for breakfast which was very popular. Lunch was left over carrot and coriander soup from yesterday with wholemeal rolls and dinner is Italian Chicken which is in the slow cooker. Will also do a couple of baked pots to go with this. Hubby is very impressed by this new cooking regime and says he didn't remember that I could actually cook because we have been living on take aways and ready meals for so long.
Uniforms are ironed and ready for the week ahead and DS can sort out his bag tonight before he goes to bed.

Afternoon everyone especially all the newbies.

I'm suffering with an horrendous sore throat at the moment, although as a guy :( I guess it's nothing really and I'm exaggerating. But had a mainly wakeful last night. Finally got to sleep around 9 a.m. today after taking some drugs I have for something else. And then woke around 2 p.m. this afternoon. Really got to sort my body clock out!

But managed Manchester yesterday to see Cyrano De Bergerac before it ends. We were impressed – nice to see the Royal Ex. getting back to the high standards it had back in the ‘80s! Front of House is still iffy at times with some staff unwilling to help – but I guess there will always be some . . . . .

Today I’ve done little – well I’ve only been up a few hours. :o

Like the kitchen aussielass. Will you come and do ours? It’s a mix of 1930s' tiled floor and walls, and 1960s' wall and floor units – plus a 1940s (??) floor-standing cupboard with a fabulous white enamel top which can take anything – except our pressure cooker which marks it. But apart from that, wonderful. Can you still get enamelled tops?? Want to keep the floor because that’s fabulous. Walls? I’m mixed over as some parts are good and some less good. But I like the idea of keeping original 1930s tiling if possible.

Enough. Housework calls even on a Sunday. :(

    Hi all,

Got up reluctantly at 9:30am got myself and son ready, had breakfast and did a pile of dishes sitting from last night and emptied a couple of bins. went to pick up sister to check out Tesco’s reduced X’mas stuff. Her alarm hadn’t went off so set off a bit later than intended.

Went to Tesco customer services to get my 51 clubcard points as silly OH didn’t bother to tell me he was going to Tesco last week. Thankfully I found the receipt. Also got them to add 100 points for spending more than £5 on meat/ poultry which my OH did spend. Saves me trying to use up that voucher in my next shop.

Tesco spent £18.18 less £5 Tesco clubcard voucher and free NOTW voucher paid £12.33 (if I am organised I should be able to claim back money for my Actimel)

    2 x pks of 32 Tesco nappies
1 x Tesco Noel bear wind up musical ornament
    1 x 12pk Tesco silver card pegs
    1 x 12pk large Tesco family crackers
    1 x Tesco mixed nuts & raisins
    1 x 8pk Actimel
    2 x loose carrots
    1 x Reveal magazine
    1 x Now magazine
    1 x New magazine
    1 x Grazia magazine
    1 x NOTW newspaper

    Got top up Petrol £5

Dropped off sister, went home had lunch (OH made), changed sons nappy. He then fell asleep. OH has just been moping about the house all day complaining of cold/ flu which me and our son also have. Noticed he did absolutely nothing in the house whiles we were away. :-0

Did the dishes again, emptied food waste, put on a clothes wash, hung up all the clothes after putting away the washed dishes. Took down tree and all the Xmas decorations which took ages. Put away some dried clothes. Put out some papers for recycling.

Can’t believe it is 4:55pm. At least dinner has been made by OH so I can sit and eat that shortly and read my magazines. :-)
    Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
