The police has arrested the thugs from yesterday:shocked:
No need for me to call them then:cool: Never thought it would happen. Must restore my faith in the police system:)

Sorry I've not had chance to read back but wanted to post as desperately need advice - apologise if its a but rambly....

Two of my colleagues have just been made redundant on the spot, no questions asked, have to accept and leave pretty much straight away. Its always been in the pipeline but still come as a shock to everyone that its happened so suddenly today.

I am in a situation where I can either take voluntary redundancy (dont want to), or be transferred to another company on a TUPE transfer (probably best option at moment) or risk compulsory redundancy as above.
We have a team meeting on Thursday night to decide the outcome of our future (as it is going to the board meeting tomorrow).

I am panicking that if I do get made redundant it might happen when I am only a few weeks/couple of months pregnant and that I wouldnt be entitled to any Maternity Pay as you have to be so many weeks pregnant to get this from your current employer in top of any redunancy payout.

Also theres no chance that anyone else would employ me if I was already pregnant and even if they did they wouldnt be entitled to pay me Maternity Pay either as I wouldnt have been there long enough.

I really dont know what to do - I dont want to put off TTC as I've already had to wait for years to do this and if I did wait itd probably have to be for another year or so...I'm 32 now and its already taking longer than I wanted it to to get pg so I just dont want to delay it any more.
But if I do get pg and I get made redundant asap, we wont be able to afford to pay our mortgage without any extra help. Neither of us are that well paid and theres no way my OH could support me just with his wages alone.

I'm feeling pretty upset right now - ive been frustrated enough waiting this long to be able to have my chance to TTC and now its finally here something else has come along to put a spanner in the works...

((hugs)) Sorry you are in this situation. First off it is illegal for an employer not to hire you because you are pregnant although sometimes they will find other reasons to give for not offering you the position. If you do find your self in this position when you are a few months pg, then you don't have to tell your potential employer (someone correct me if I'm wrong on that).

When would you likely be made redunant? You need to be in the 15th week before your due date to qualify for your mat pay. However if you lose your job before then you can work elsewhere up until that week you will get SMA from the government which isn't much (about £128 per week) but better than nothing. There's some info here

Could you take a payment break on your mortgage if you needed to? Also can you start putting some money aside now to help build up a buffer?

    xx

  • hey

Just a quick one as im at work and not got chance to read back - i took my temp this morning at 3am instead of 5.50am due to waking up for a wee wee.....yesterday i was 3DPO and now it has taken it away....not got +OPK yet and CBFM still saying high but i did reset it this month

Anybody know why this would have happened?

As emsbet says if you don't qualify for SMP you will still get maternity allowance. Plus you should get a redundancy payment if the worst happens. The safest option is definitely to TUPE at the moment but you can keep your options open and also look for new roles if you think the TUPE role isn't one you fancy long term. And if you can, start an emergency savings fund, though I appreciate e run up to Christmas isn't the best time to suggest that.

That's because your temp today was too low (because you took it 3hrs earlier.
Let's hope the temps are back up tomorrow, and if it was, I'd delete today's entry and just make a note of it. Hopefully that'll re-instate your ov line:o
  • Hello all...Hope everyone is doing ok...Just had a bit of a skimp read, and big big hugs to those feeling fragile, no more mentions of leaving, or taking over threads...threads like these are here to support all of us...if that means talking about our losses, or things that are or are not going on in our worlds then thats good...not just for the poster, but for people who are reading and are going through similar circumstances...then muppets like me come along with mugs of tea and Royal Marines (in the buff!)

as for the time of year for being born, I was born in April, and a woodlouse is probably a whole lot smarter than me
