    JoJoB Congratulations!

    QQ I'm 22 :)

Can anyone help me understand OPKs a bit better? I should probably explain why or my questions wont really make sense. OH is sort of, wired up backwards, so nothing ever comes out, it goes backwards into his bladder, meaning natural conception is pretty much impossible, we've used no protection for 3 years now and nothing. We looked into IUI/IVF but can't afford it, and because of the age gap between us, I'm too young for NHS funding, and he's too old.

Since we can't go down the IUI/IVF route, and because of some pretty nasty genetic heart problems on his side, we've decided to go with a donor, and are using the DIY method. Obviously this means I can't really just BD lots and hope for the best so I need to be able to pinpoint things quite well. We have a donor but he lives an hours drive away so it's one shot a month really.

I know that you should use OPKs in the afternoon, after not drinking for a few hours, but how soon after a positive should I visit my donor? And is there anything else I need to know to give me the best chances?

Welcome Razwaz. AFAIK, after the first positive OPK you should ov within 24-36 hours so I would go with as soon as possible within that time frame because you want to give them time to swim up Sperm can live in the body for a couple of days. You should also try to have an orgasm once the sperm is inserted, to help it get all sucked up into the cervix.

I'm not sure if pre-seed would help in this situation but some of the ladies on here have had luck with it.

I hope this is helpful. There are some people on here who might know more about it.

Congrats JoJoB! That really was a short stay! Also congrats Marie!

Tealover i hope you are recovering well?

Well i think i am on 10 DPO and i did my free trial CB digi today as no sign at all of AF and am due on today. It was negative, but still getting too many signs I may be PG so will hold off now and try not to test until weekend unless AF arrives.

Sorry I am not great at keeping up with you all, i do read and thank all of you, you are a fab bunch of ladies and gents!

I also have an OH that is not fantastic about BDing, although i think it is often both of us, we work too much and collapse most evenings and weekends are filled with shopping, cooking and cleaning so not too often an opportunity then either. Oh well I have a great life and feel lucky every day. Thank you all :)

Hullo newbies and congratulations JojoB! xxx

I'm going to hazard a guess that I'm 0dpo. Felt OV twinges in my right Ovary this morning. Not that it makes any difference OH is still avoiding the mater.

Just been stalking and found this. It's a morphing website and you can post photos of you and your OH to see what your baby might look like. I've had great fun.

Probably doesn't apply if you've already got a baby with your OH as you'll already know what it looks like, but you could always see what your baby with Brad Pitt would look like...

ETA - I really don't think I should have a baby with Brad Pitt. It's really ugly! Neither should I have a baby with Barack Obama. But I would make a lovely baby with Antonio Banderas. And should Keifer Sutherland ever want a baby, he should mate with me.

I'm probably about 8dpo this month, didn't actually bother with opk as oh was away, and we bd'd about 5 days before ov (just before he went away) so I'm out this month.
Just hoping af arrives on time, which should be about the 30th.
Oh is going away for 4wks, probably leaving a day or so after ov (if all goes to plan) so I'm going to give him a lovely birthday present the week before and tell him he gets to bd every day before he goes, just to be on the safe side. Then it's fingers crossed and 2ww while I'm home alone and bored - gonna be hell!!

    Congrats to the bfp's!!

I shouldn't watch One born every minute. I'm getting really cross.
