congratulations JoJo x0

Congrats jojo! Just did my opk again today and its negative! Does this mean Ive missed my chance to catch the egg or is today still ok after a positive yesterday?0
-
Phew! Thanks ladies - and sorry for queue jumping. Good luck to you all on your ttc journies xx
Elsie - getting the negative means the egg was released somewhere between today's neg and yesterday's positive. Basically the LH level drops straight away once the egg is released and you've got 12-24 hours to catch it. So you could still have a fair bit of time today to get fertilising.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -

QQ I'm 22
Can anyone help me understand OPKs a bit better? I should probably explain why or my questions wont really make sense. OH is sort of, wired up backwards, so nothing ever comes out, it goes backwards into his bladder, meaning natural conception is pretty much impossible, we've used no protection for 3 years now and nothing. We looked into IUI/IVF but can't afford it, and because of the age gap between us, I'm too young for NHS funding, and he's too old.
Since we can't go down the IUI/IVF route, and because of some pretty nasty genetic heart problems on his side, we've decided to go with a donor, and are using the DIY method. Obviously this means I can't really just BD lots and hope for the best so I need to be able to pinpoint things quite well. We have a donor but he lives an hours drive away so it's one shot a month really.
I know that you should use OPKs in the afternoon, after not drinking for a few hours, but how soon after a positive should I visit my donor? And is there anything else I need to know to give me the best chances?0
