mogwai - you usually get a positive OPK 24-36 before you will ovulate, but it can be as much as 72 hours beforehand if you catch it at the beginning of the surge. So if you were expecting to ovulate on Thursday, I would expect you to get a positive on Tuesday afternoon or at the latest by Wednesday morning. There is always a time delay between surge and ovulation, as the surge which is what OPKs detect is the signal the body sends to the ovary to release an egg. Hope that helps.

Sa-ra-ra as Colli says, breathe :) It sounds like a positive to me. If you had retained products you would most likely know about it by now as it probably would have caused an infection (that's what happened to me). That coupled with the BFN after your op indicates you TLP is the real deal.

I know it's so very scary and if you ever need a chat you can always PM me. Do I remember you saying that you will be getting Heparin and Aspirn this time round? That can make a huge difference to the success of a pregnancy if they think some sort of clotting disorder has played a part in your previous mcs.

I think you should stay where ever you feel comfortable. I have missed out the 12-24 thread because it holds bad memories for me so I've gone straight to the "big" thead.

Since getting pg this time I have thought of starting a pg after loss thread but wasn't sure if anyone would join or even whether it would stay long before the powers that be shut it down. I think it would be nice to have somewhere to go where people who are in the same position can chat without worrying about scaring others or feeling like you are being to negative. Also it would be nice to hear success stories from ladies who have been through it and come out the other side with their forever babies. hmmm maybe I will start one later today....

Ok I'm rambling now. Ignore me ladies! :)

    I hope everyone is ok.

((hugs)) to zippy for the worries you're still having with MIL.

Good luck with the IVF QQ

    How are you Colli?

I hope the pneumonia goes soon SD!

    xx

    Hi all,
Thanks for the good luck for today - I just can't bring myself to test now. Lots of AF symptoms, but no sign of it yet... and I don't think I can take a BFN. Since I am already at 14DPO, and clearly AF is about to arrive or not, I think I may as well wait. I'll know by tomorrow anyway one way or the other.

I'm so upset and yet still hopeful. I always get to this stage and start to imagine how I will tell people.. which I have to stop doing, it just makes it harder.

Sa-ra-ra - congrats, and hope it all works out. I can understand your desire to stay on this thread, people are so lovely and it feels like a real part of the 'journey'.

QQ - Good luck today with IVF! And thanks as always for the lists. Always worth mentioning from time to time. I clearly lost track of my days when you went away even for a couple of days!

For UTI's - I know everyone has different remedies that work for them, but I find the normal cranberry juice works really well for me. I tend to keep some in the back of the cupboard just in case and drink it at the first hint of a UTI. You can get it fairly unsweetened and I just drink a lot of it. I also find cranberry capsules from boots work quite well, and definately work as a preventative.

I used to get UTI's quite a lot, but managed to stop the re-occurance by having regular cranberry tablets. I think the infection stays dormant and tends to come back, so taking the tablets over a long time helped. All this is 100% self diagnosis and treatment, so take it with a grain of salt!

The sachets also work for me, but they are truely horrible, but if I can't get cranberry stuff I use them.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions - there's nothing you ladies don't know!

Will definitely be drinking lots of water once I get home today. Am working at a different site today and am paranoid that if I drink lots now it will be a horrible 2hr journey home lol. I'll try and avoid sugar (not easy!!) and I don't drink alcohol anyway so at least that's one less thing to cut out. Hopefully I've caught it early this time. Wouldn't worry me too much usually as I've had plenty before, but oh my that kidney infection was a killer - I thought my end had come.

Right - back to meeting, chat later xx.

ps - Sa-ra-ra-ra. Sounds like congrats are in order. Take care my lovely x.

Hello Emsbet. Glad all is ok with you. I like to see you popping up with words of wisdom :D

All ok here, 4dpo (drums fingers on table) - already the longest 2ww ever I was sure I was at least 6 dpo until I counted back this morning. Decently timed bding this cycle but didn't manage SMEP which was the aim so am not feeling particularly optimistic. Ah well, there's always next cycle :p

Aahh thanks Nicki that makes sense - you are a fount of knowledge!

I thought it was 24 hours before, but I have read that you can get a couple of days of positives of LH. Maybe I wasn't OPKing early enough in my last 2 cycles then.

So despite the brown CM I haven't ovulated yet as I have high levels of LH still..I am going to check LH again in a couple of hours. That means that we are good to BD today and tomorrow and Fri still - whoopee :rotfl:

I really hope I can get to grips with the temping too as that seems to be the most informative way of getting to know your cycle.. thanks!

Congratulations Sa-ra-ra, hope you have the most uneventful pregnancy and easiest birth ever :)

right, EWCM has to be clear, right? if i touch my cervix it's cloudy and stringy, maybe sort of snotty, if it's on the outside it's lotiony and not at all sticky.
    blinking stupid body.

once again i'm tempted to got the doctors, blinking hate these long cycles. i just want to end this one and start the next one and someone to explain to me why they've suddenly messed up, although i suspect gp will just say 'you're overweight, have pcos and had a mc, what else do you expect?'. humphadumph.
In two minds about taking supplements as i don't want to force my body to get pregnant if it doesn't think it should, if you get me. like if i'm not Ov cos i'm overweight then that's cos my body knows it wouldn't be a healthy pregnancy. so don't want to force it by taking something and it not turn out well. hmmm
i guess i'm still sh*t scared of getting pregnant but i do so so so want a baby. anyway i can skip the first 12 weeks? Just want to see a little heart beating away.

Have my annual review this afternoon and i can't begin to explain to you how much i really don't want it to happen. there's never any feedback/communication in this place so no idea how well/badly i'm doing so absolutely dreading it as i have no self confidence and expecting to get berated for half an hour. just gotta get my head down and get on with it i guess. think my boss has a busy day so hopefully it won't happen.

Absolutely shattered as i've worked late the last two days and will be doing today and tomorrow and i need to find time for the gym. ooooof

Not so much with the wind the past two days but v. constipated which is not at all like me usually so i might as well test cos QQ symptom spotted for me so that must mean it's ok :p

love to you all, sorry for being a debbie downer x x

Just need to work out the post ovulation part of my month's plan this month. I have to confess its been more aspirational than followed to the letter so far, but I have tried to do some of it, and if BFN again this month at least I have it all worked out to implement more rigorously next month.

Think we're trying roughly the same strategy. Emma Cannon's book is great but it can be hard to follow to the letter as there is a lot of info in there and some of it is not practical all the time (for me at least). I just aim for doing the best I can and not stress if I do something "wrong" or miss something out and it does get easier to follow each month. As a starting point I try and add in the recommended foods (easy for things like dates/nuts etc that you can just grab a handful of) and drink teas. Those alone will do a world of good, then add in the other things if I can. It becomes more instinctive and routine over time (though I imagine it's harder if you've got a family to juggle in terms of time to yourself and planning meals around kids! ;)). I like to think the book along with acu really helped me after my first mc, I concieved on my 4th cycle afterwards (it took me 7 cycles to get pregnant first time around). HTH

Wow you lot have been busy posting this morning so sorry if I miss anyone out.

Sa-ra-ra it sounds like a postive to me and you are welcome to hang around here as long as you like. It know its impossible, but try to relax.

Tealover - you can but cranberry extract in a bottle from health food stores such as Holland & Barrett and I always keep a bottle in the fridge as it really does help. I also try those horrid sachets from the chemist which again do help. Hope it goes away soon.

TTC40 - glad oh's SA result was good and that you are being referred - hope you don't have to wait too long for an appointment.

Mogwai - sounds like you will ov Weds/Thurs so keep up the well timed bding.

TeamLowe -it must be so frustrating to be having a long cycle, hope af hasn't shown up for the right reason!

Time2Deal - I do the same as you, think I am not pg but still paln how I will tell people and then af shows! If you can hold out testing until tomorrow that would be best as I am like you and had seeing a bfn.

Abis - try to hold out on testig until 14dpo

Nicki - interesting about the CBFM - I do use mine each month but given that info I may try to bd more both before and after highs/peaks as well as during high/peaks to make sure I catch it.

BZ - hugs, thinking of you.

Emsbet - good to see you, hope you are doing ok.
