Trying for a Baby Part 7

Congratulations sa-ra-ra. Of course you are welcome to stay and lurk for as long as you feel comfortable with. To be honest, I think the board could do with a pregnant after a loss thread, or a pregnant with complications thread, but as I'm not pregnant, am not offering to set that one up
Had another high on CBFM today even though I got a smiley on my OPK last night so just phoned the helpline. I've had 3 cycles with no peak now and 3 with peaks, all with positive OPKs and temp rises which suggest I did ovulate. This is their advice in case it helps anyone else.
The CBFM and the OPKs work in different ways. The CBFM is looking for percentage changes between oestrogen and LH whereas the OPK is looking for an LH surge, but if you get a positive on either it suggests ovulation is imminent. The CBFM is apparently more temperamental, and in particular tends to give highs rather than peaks if the sticks are too wet. You need to hold them in your pee for a maximum of 3 seconds or dip them for exactly 15 seconds. If you hold them in your pee even for a few seconds longer, the results will be inaccurate.
The adviser said there is no need to do both, and as the OPKs are working consistently for me, I should stop using the CBFM as the sticks are expensive and it doesn't seem to be the best choice for me. So next month I think I'll just temp and OPK if no BFP by Easter.
For anyone thinking of buying a CBFM it might be worth trying the digital OPKs for a few months instead as the sticks are less expensive than CBFM sticks for a month, and the results are clear cut - no squinting to compare lines needed. If you combine it with checking CM you should be able to identify possibly fertile days just beforehand which CBFM would tell you were highs.0 -
Sara - hope all goes well & this turns into a very un-eventful 9 month wait!
GP appt this morning. Good news in that OH swimmers are OK. Plenty of them she said (although mobility could be a little better). Didn't ask for a copy of results so can't share. Put a smile on his face.
It was a different GP to last time (original one on hols). This one is more 'abrupt'. She said that we wouldn't be eligible for NHS support due to BMI over 30. I said that I thought my age was also a factor in this & she agreed. No shock with either of these.
I said then let's move to a private referral. She gave me a name at the local BMI hospital & told me to call to book appt. She would do a letter & can collect this at the end of the week.
Called the hospital & the consultant is on holiday for a few weeks - AARGH! Anyway, appt booked for 11 April which isn't too long in the big scheme of things. £180 for initial consultation.
Still awaiting OV, expected today but no smiley. See what tomorrow brings. OH away tomorrow night so will be an early morning BD tomorrow!0 -
I think I've got a UTI
Am getting the familiar bruise-type feeling when I wee and I seem to going loads as well.
Last time I had one (Nov) it developed into a kidney infection and I felt so ill, it was horrible. What can I do to ward it off this time? Am trying cranberry and bicarb. so hope that does the trick.
Sorry this is quick - just off to a meeting so will catch up properly later. But I know I can rely on you ladies for lots of great advice.:T
Cranberries have been shown to help with UTIs. Problem is, you can't really get cranberry juice without it being sweetened and the sugar most certainly doesn't help. It's a myth that normal cranberry juice will make you feel any better - drink lots of water and go to see your doctor x."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Oooh Sa-ra-ra-ra that sounds exciting but of course can understand you might be feeling stressed/worried too. Please stay with us for as long as you like!
Maybe your thermometer got a bit confused because you were putting it in your special bottom.... :rotfl:
I love any excuse to use that phrase:D
Am I really weird? I keep looking at my FF chart and grinning because the lines have appeared today.
Am LOVING all these late March BFPs!!0 -

Ok... so there's something wrong with my thermometer.
Because on Monday I had an enormous temperature drop. And then on Tuesday it went even lower. I was getting cramps and my boobs were sore, but that could have been from poking them.
And then this morning my temperature came back up. And I still hadn't come on, and the cramping seems to have stopped... so I POAS. And got a TLP on an IC. So then I cracked out the big guns, dipped a Superdrug one in my ramekin of wee, and got another TLP, only it was definitely there rather than the shut-one-eye-and-hold-it-up-to-the-light one on the IC.
So, now I'm a bit excited, but quite scared and also a bit worried. I did a test inbetween, after my op (which came up negative), but what if it's retained products from the ERPC? Although I do know I ovulated, so it's unlikely to be that. And what if it's chemical? I'll find that out soon enough, I suppose. I just don't have any real symptoms, and in the past I've been able to tell because my boobs have been mega sore.
I was thinking though, that maybe I could sit quietly in the corner over here, and not move onto the <12 weeks thread, and just stay where I have good luck, and then maybe if it goes ok I might move onto the 12-24 week thread if I ever get there? How does that sound, are you prepared to have me for a little bit longer?!
*stress stress stress*
Stay as long as you like
Fingers Crossed for you xxxxIf you can think it........it will happen0 -
Comp my first cycle after implant was 20 ish days I couldn't detect ov. 2nd cycle was 34ish days I think I ov'd around cd20 but stopped testing so not concrete and 3rd cycle ov'd cd20
So it might be possible your first af is just your body readjusting and getting itself ready for a proper cycle x
That's kind of what I'm assuming. I had the implant taken out on CD14, so 19 days ago now. So I'm either CD19 or CD33 depending on how you look at it! :rotfl:Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Sarara, fingers crossed for you hunni, i really really hope this is your time hun and you get your forever baby. You stay wherever you feel the most comfiest, as you can see I'm still a lurker here and I think quite a few of us are as it seems like a safe haven to us. xxxxYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx

Oooo, sa-ra-ra-ra, how exciting! Are you testing on a digi tomorrow then? Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
MrsJ - I did the same - kept going back to my chart after the lines were on 'just incase' FF had changed its mind :rotfl::rotfl: I also put in a couple of fake entries for a lower temp for the next couple of days to see if that would change FF's mind on when I had ov'd as then I would still keep up with the BD, and also that I wouldn't be >as< excited over the ov date. But FF seems to know what its doingI also now still check about 10 times a day what my chart is up to, even tho I haven't added any new information. :rotfl:
Tealover - if you drink plenty of fluids you can sometimes avoid an infection setting in. If after 1-2 days of drinking LOTS you are still in pain, then go to the docs and they will give you antibiotics. If it is very painful to wee then go to the docs earlier. I have had millions of infections in my time as I have an abnormality in my tubing between my kidney and bladder. Avoid bubble bath, perfumed shower gel or soap around the area as that irritates it. I can't use 'cheap' products in the bath as they always give me an infection, and i have to use plain soap to wash down there. You don't necessarily get a kidney infection if you get a urine infection - only if you leave it untreated. I haven't had a kidney infection for years and years now as I know the signs. I also have only had 2 lots of antibiotics in the last few years as I can normally avoid getting an infection, and if i do then I drink loads and its usually ok on its own. Makes me laugh when I tell the nurse I have an infection, and she says, well >I'll< see about that as tho I don't know what I am looking for :rotfl:
TTC40 - Good news that you have an appt sorted, hugs for having to wait tho.
AFM - no more spotting as all, am on knicker watch now tho. Am still SSing, altho my DH told me off for that and is getting down with our lingo which makes me laugh. 10DPO - feels like the 2 week wait is going sooooooo slowly. Am going to meet my lovely god-daughter tomorrow. She is only 6lb 12oz - so teeny tiny (the little ones always get me worse than the big chunky babies) Am looking forward to it, but hoping I don't make a big show of myself and start crying while I'm round there.
Not sure when to test again. BFN yesterday and the spotting. I bought some digi tests on amazon the other day but they haven't been dispatched yet. I will still do the IC's still I get a TLP anyway. Do you think tomorrow is still too soon to test? No idea how long my luteal phase is as this is my first month of temping, so not sure when AF is due.Married my lobster in July 2011
TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait
 2013 is going to be our lucky year :dance:0 -
Wow, fingers crossed Sa ra ra ra. Really hope it works out positive for you which I'm sure it will x
Tea Lover - you won't need anti biotics (and the doctor won't give) if it's just the beginning of a UTI. They say take those (horrible, horrible horrible) sachets. It does do the trick 90% of the time but if not, then take antibiotics. Stay away from the wine too cos the alcohol doesn't help.
Am with the MRsJ28 on the late BFP's! It's lovely to see.
Nicki - that's really interestin re the CBFM. Tbh I never look at the lines, I just go by what it tells you on the screen. Turns out that OH and I were not made to BD every day. We really struggle, only managed Sat/Sun this week, mon and last night he couldn't "complete" due to tiredness. Have been thinking about doing OPK's to try and pin down OV a bit more but on the other hand that might just be be going a bit overboard. We've agreed that next month we'll just do every other day over the high/peak bit as we seem to be able to manage a bit of that!
Sorry for TMI in the last bit, just needed to think out loud really!

Aww Sa-ra-ra-ra am really excited for you! Fingers crossed this is the real deal!
Nicki - I've been using OPK wee sticks and havent had a +ve on them in the last 2 months, but just yesterday got one. Either they are rubbish or for some reason I havent been catching the +ve.
So i got a +ve OPK yesterday (which seems early for me as Im sure Im due to OV on Thurs and means that we mistimed our BD for Tues - Fri)
I've also been getting brown CM, it looks like fertile CM - which started yesterday again from no CM the day before. Has anyone had brownish CM before ovulation? I read its a sign of high fertility but I only had fertile CM the same day as the brown CM and the +ve on the OPK - surely there should have been more fertile CM days before OV? Feeling deflated now as I was looking forward to our BD days!
So this month, I started taking guanesifin (sp), 1-3000mg EPO, along with my usual vit C + wellwoman conception..maybe thats the reason for early Ov and brownish CM?
Also, started trying to temp, but as predicted, I forgot this morning - temping wasn't made for forgetful people...We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.
