I'm doing my own head in with this stressing about AF / BFN etc, so am just putting down some thoughts that I will try to refer back to when I am struggling.

    * I have done everything I can this month to get my BFP
    * Nothing I do at this stage will alter the result
    * Stressing will not change a thing. What will be will be.
    * Testing early will not effect the result of the test. I am either pregnant or I am not. Testing early would only mean that I knew about a +ve test slightly earlier and will only make me miserable if it says a -ve test
    * There are worse things in the world than having to wait for a baby (even if it doesn't feel like that at times :o)
    * If I am not pregnant, there is always next month.
    * If I am not pregnant there is a couple of pear ciders with my name on them. Possibly more than a couple :p
    * Being tearful or grumpy will not make me get a BFP, if anything it might put DH off BD'ing :rotfl:
    * Stop SS'ing. I have 'felt' pregnant 3 cycles in a row now. Clearly it is wishful thinking and it does not effect the outcome.
    * SS'ing is like when my DD comes home with nits. I start scratching my head. Its only because I am super sensitive and aware of everything.
    * I am not in control of TTC. I do everything I can to help, but ultimately, its down to luck as well as well timed BD'ing etc.

Right, think thats all for now. I might print it out for everytime I want to take a test, or get grumpy or sad.

This gets my vote for post of the month!

    Personal favourite right now:
    * Stressing will not change a thing. What will be will be.

I wish I was able to say I wasn't stressing, but I am certainly trying not to. I can't face a test now, as a BFN is a real BFN if it appears now, so I am going to wait as long as I can. AF symptoms seem to have faded away, and now I am just stuck with terrible bloating, lightly sore b00bs and occasional twinges of cramp. And apart from anything else, I still haven't managed to buy a test!!

Oh bums :( Thank you for the heads up though, I appreciate it.

Do you (or anybody else who has been through the process know), are they likely to prescribe Clomid on the first appointment? Or will I have to wait another 18 weeks or so, to get seen again?

What about this trigger shot, do they do this on the NHS? Will they follow my cycle and scan me?

I really have no idesa what to expect, so any advice welcomed.
Glad you took it how I meant :o

They are *highly* unlikely to give you clomid straight out of the box.:o

Usually (at least from my experience and from others' I've read) they have a chat about your previous cycles (taking a list of them helps), ask questions like "how many pads/tampons do you use" (which flummoxed me! :p), arrange blood tests for cd2-5 & cd21 -which also included rubella and such, possibly arrange for a scan, probably/possibly take swabs to check for infections there and then. They also organised for an HSG for me too, to see if my tubes are blocked (I've just had my letter through to ring for an appointment on CD1). If you had a male partner they'd probably arrange for an SA for him (I'm aware this doesn't really apply for you ;)) and ask him questions too.

They then arranged an appointment for 6months time - well, it was supposed to be 5 months but when the appt came through it was 6months - to give time for all the tests to be done (the waiting list for the HSG was 12wks alone, and actually it's been longer than that so far) and then the FS reviews the results and decides how to proceed.

It is often Clomid tried for a maximum of 6 cycles, but only if they think it appropriate in your circumstances etc, and they said the first cycle would be scanned to check if it was working/not producing too many eggs so they could check the dosage. I'm sure you're aware, but there's also a BMI level they want you to be at/beneath for clomid - some is below 30, some below 35 - so be prepared for them to be pretty brutal about any weight issues you may have :o

The trigger shot you're talking about sounds like a step beyond clomid, when you reach the assisted conception stage with IVF drug protocols etc...?

I have no idea how much or little help they'll offer you for your specific donor situation though, but that's been my experience so far, so I hope that helps.

    Sa-ra, congratulations on your t/bfp :D
(I'm worried of being too :j for you cos I know you're scared :o) You are, of course, welcome to stick around and please let us know how you're getting on :)

ETA: Oh, and while I'm posting, I can't remember who was asking about UTI advice? I've just been signed off by my urologist, as I was having recurrent bladder/kidney infections etc and this was a follow up appointment ...anyway, his advice was very specific:
    * drink lots of water to flush out the bacteria
    * take cranberry concentrate capsules to help the lining of the bladder
    * eat probiotics/acidophilus to increase the good bacteria so you can assist in fighting the bad bacteria
    * use wet wipes after a no 2 to clean any bacteria away properly :o
    * change into clean underwear as often as possible after using the toilet to minimise bacteria there
and if infections do rear again, to go back on the prophylactic antibiotics course again.

    Hope that helps :)

2B - has your donor had a SA?

Smiley face this morning on digi OPK. BD'd last night & this morning - think OH felt 'manly' after positive SA results yesterday!

Note re morning BD - if BD'ing before usual alarm time, turn alarm off before starting! I did this but OH didn't. Alarm came on at a crucial time! He asked if I wanted it turning off - we didn't bother.

He's away tonight so hopefully we will BD tomorrow night (although it's likely I will ov before then).

Is there any point doing OPKs once you have had the first smiley? I assume if I do them daily, when I don't get a smiley I have ov'd?

I know Q has said no need to carry on with CBFM once first peak has registered - just not sure about OPKs.

10 days in March left - let's have a sprint finish with a few BFPs.
  • Great news Sa-ra-ra-ra, I hope everything works out for you, will be thinking of you :)

It's lovely to see so much good news on the thread, lots of happy faces
  • (((((((((Hugs))))))))))) to anyone not having good news though

I'm a little shy to post about being upset and ruin the pma
