Tealover - WHAT is a weetabix cake?? I'm intrigued!

It's a cake made from weetabix, reminds me of my childhood, my mum made it all the time. Best fresh out of the oven. yum

    • 2 cups/300g self raising flour
    • 1 cup/225g sugar
    • 1 cup/200g raisins (or any other dried fruit)
    • 2 Weetabix (crushed)
    • 1/2 - 1 tsp mixed spice
    • 1 1/4 cup/275ml milk
    • 1 medium egg (beaten)
Measure out all the dried ingredients into a large bowl.
Pour in the milk and egg and mix well (the mixture will look like a lumpy batter).
Pour the mixture into a greased and lined loaf tin.
Bake at 130 C/gas 3 for around 1 hr 15 mins, until it is firm to touch, golden brown and a skewer or knife comes out clean.

The gym was fantastic yesterday, really loved it. Got my second half of my induction tomorrow. Though going did show that I keep getting low blood pressure at the moment, not sure what is causing it, but have been experiencing dizzy spells for the last week. Off to the doctors me thinks this week.

    Hi all

I'm now off coffee and alcohol as well and onto green tea instead. Haven't told anyone else we're trying so love that this is somewhere I can get some answers!!:D
I think my DH looked into green tea and found it had more caffeine than real tea/coffee...?? I might be mixing it up with something else though :o

Anyway, welcome to the thread

Evening all, please can I join you?

DH and I started trying about 5 months ago and I kind of expected to be pregnant by now. I don't really understand the whole temping thing, or most of the abbreviations here but it will be nice getting to know you ladies and hopefully picking up some tips.
Welcome to you too cupid
Ok. Help guys - I'm rather confused .. Cd 24ish. 1st month with cbfm & have been getting highs since cd6 but no peak yet. Normally have longish cycles as the regulars will know. From experience I would say I'm due to ov anytime between a couple of days ago & nowish. So today & yesterday I have ewcm, ov symptoms as normal - but now I have spotting too. Yesterday was brown spotting & I thought it had something to do with dislodged blood (I've got pneumonia so thought the coughing might have moved it - but tonight it's pinkish/fresher blood. Any ideas??
Ov bleeding? BD bleeding? Or completely early, messed up cycles, AF? Or just because our bodies like to mess with us? Hope you're feeling better soon though, pneumonia is tough!

SD - I had brown and then pink/red spotting a few days before ov this month for the first time ever so it could be ov spotting you are having or it could be that being unwell has affected your cycle which can happen. I hope you feel better soon.

Pinguini - welcome to the thread.

Well still not CD1, a bit more brownish spotting yesterday but not a sign of any red blood so far. Even the brown is only there maybe one in 3 knicker-checking trips.

Cheers for posting the weetbix cake recipe vesper. Can't believe I picked up allspice instead of mixed spice. This really creepy guy kept standing far too close to me in the supermarket and it was putting me off  Made jam tarts instead which has made some more space in the fridge - had four lots of jam open with hardly anything in any of them so they're all used up now.

That was pretty much my main achievement for the day :rotfl:

Hi ladies. CD40 and BFN on a Morrisons test. Went to the pharmacy and they didn't have any tests at all, so went to the tiny supermarket next door and they only had own brand. Still a BFN so I'm guessing a dodgy batch of ics. I'll bin when i get home.

Bit of cramping so I guess AF is on her way.

    I could cry.

I researched green tea when I fell pregnant. I don't think it has more than regular tea, but it's certainly not a caffeine-free alternative. If you're trying to avoid caffeine altogether, Pinguini, best steer clear of green tea.

You can have roobios instead if you don't mind drinking something that tastes of mouldy twigs. Personally it makes me want to vom. Luckily I like camomile and fruit teas. Plus I still sneaked a cup or two of darjeeling each day :D

Thanks for the welcome :) it seems really nice and friendly here.

Have most of you told people you are trying? I had only just got a new job when we started so everyone assumed we'd wait until I was settled there and no-one even asked about kids. But now I am worried about telling people because the last thing I want is people asking me every 5 mins if I'm pregnant yet! I just never know what to say when people ask us when we'll be having kids (which annoys me anyway because I have no idea when it will be even though we are trying - maybe I should just ask to borrow their crystal ball!)

That made me laugh. I think I'll stick to my decaf coffee/tea then but thanks for the warning.

    Welcome Cupid and Pinguini!

My OH made me laugh on Saturday, he was rubbing my tummy and I said that there's no point as there's nothing in there and he looked crestfallen and asked if I'd just taken a test... I told him that there was no need as it was still far too early to even hope for a sticky bean and the penny dropped, the look on his face when he finally understood that there's less than 1 week in a month/cycle when you can make a baby was so sweet/funnny/sad! I've told him this before but all things TTC gross him out a little so he tends to zone out when I talk, but he genuinely believed that as long as I'm not on my period I'm ready to be fertilised at any time! Bless him, if only it were that simple! He did wonder why I go through phases of jumping him and other times when I'm not that bothered! :rotfl:

Cupid, I found that as soon as I got married people were asking about us having babies even before we were trying, it doesn't seem to matter to people! If you're of child bearing age, you're going to be hassled about having kids by *someone* IME. My closest friends know we're trying, and they also know not to ask too much about it as the last time it was mentioned my response was, 'No baby. My body is still f****d up and I'm fed up with it all now. Pass the wine!' ;)

I guess I'm lucky people are only just starting to ask me then. It was the opposite for me when I got married, as everyone was telling me I was far too young to be thinking of having children yet.
