Primmer and Nicki - big hugs ladies, you're both really going through it at the moment.
Have to say, the last couple of pages have had me in stitches! I think I needed a good laugh, am cooking for 6 people tomorrow night and am having such a panic already, and still have the whole house to clean too. Might try and find my cervix first though, I've never got anywhere near it before!!0 -
Nicki - such a shame DH has had to go away when all this has been happening. We are all here for you on this thread. I do hope you can get some rest if not sleep and try to drink lots if you can't manage to eat - hugs0

That is very very tempting, but probably not a good idea while alone at home with thr kids. :rotfl: Unless you mean water, and tea and stuff that is!0 -

OH is currently on secondment from the UK office. Has been since 2008, and the contract ends in April 2013. At that point, by Dutch law, he either has to have a local contract or return to the UK. You are not permitted to be on secondment here for any longer than 5 years.
His work have been talking about a local contract since he got here, but it's never materialised, and at one point they tried to tell him that they could give him a local contract but it would have to be on less money! They're not allowed to do that either, and were swiftly reminded of that fact!
However, stuff has been happening at his work recently, and it has become quite obvious that they are about to be bought out. So, he has a strong feeling he will either get his job offer soon under the new company, or be offered redundancy. I'm hoping for the latter as he's been with them for 14/15 years in total, and a redundancy package that came up 10 years ago was worth 12k! He was earning less than, with less time on the clock, so he's entitled to a lot more now. If we got that, we'd just wait for him to find another local job here, get the mortgage and house, and then start trying and we'd have a nice safety net if the new job didn't work out.
No chance of anything before the job's sorted. Been over and over it with him, and to be honest just getting him to remove the 'must be in new job for at least 1 year rule' was a big thing and progress.
He also said he would be happy to raise a family here or in the UK, so it is up to me. Reality is, that is such a hard decision to make, and so many factors to consider that we are still discussing it with each other loads, and will make the decision together. But it's nice to know I could say 'I think we'll be happier in UK/NL' and he would just accept it and go with it.
I'm leaning quite strongly towards NL, but family in the UK is a big pull, particularly my parents. I actually think I need to make a list of the pro's and con's to be able to be sure of any decision.
Well seems like you have a lot of thinking to do then!
although what would happen if you decided you wanted to move back to the UK and he got his job in Holland? I guess hed just have to look for another one?
Glad you got him to remove the 1 year rule - that doesnt seem very fair to you! But yes sounds like it would be good if he was made redundant then.euronorris wrote: »Oh, please forgive me, but my memory is rubbish! Congratulations to your sister though! Will she be living in UK or NL? And I hope he's a nice guy....and tall (Dutch folk are generally a lot taller than UK folk), and good looking! lol My wrist surgeon was very nice looking!
