Groupon - Pearl National Teeth Whitening SCAM!

I used them in Leeds ... it was unprofessional and I would be very surprised if any of them were trained
My teeth appeared whiter for a day or two but once they had re-hydrated they appear the same colour as before
My teeth were never badly stained just not very white ... and now they are still not very white
They cancelled my appointment twice and when I finally went in they could not get us to sign consent forms as the printer was not working...Instead we were made to read a disclaimer and then sign on a A4 pad. Nothing was sanitized but i went ahead as i Had waited 6 weeks in total to get in plus it had taken me lots of phone calls to get the appointment. They did use treatment from little tubes though that were opened on application. The light did not seem slightly hot and I would guess it made very little / no difference
Overall I was very dissatisfied with the service. It was uncomfortable and whilst the three of us 'clients' lay there with the treatment on the girls were giggling and talking about previous clients.
I would suggest if you want tooth whitening get to your dentist for a scrape and polish and then do it at home. I had much better results from getting a kit form boots and did not have an entire night of excruciating tooth pain caused by sensitivity ................. for zero result.
I am now £69 pounds down with teeth the same shade and worried to use a home kit in case they become sensitive again from the stress they have already had
Pearl National is a load of rubbish ...they should call themselves Pearl trashional0 -

Pearl National is not a scam just a very unprofessional company !!! Please read my other post :A0 -

Go and see your dentist who can check if your teeth and gums have been permanently damaged and can advise you about how to treat the sensitivity. Don't be embarassed , unfortunately they will have all too often seen damage from illegal whitening operators.
There is no such thing as a qualification in whitening, you have to be a dentist to be able to assess people as suitable for whitening and carry out the proceedure. These companies use beauticians with NVQ 2 qualifications and appear to "train" on the job. They then pay according to recent adverts £6 an hour.
"laser" or led whitening does nothing other than heat up the solution and dehydrate teeth. Research shows this is not an effective way of whitening as all it does is dehydrate teeth. Trays appear to be the most effective way of whitening.0 -
Groupon is the most shambolic, dishonest and unprofessional company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I bought a deal from them early in the year, which I was unable to redeem through not being able to contact the company involved. I spent countless hours over many weeks trying to get Groupon to resolve this and although I eventually got them to agree to refund the money, I am still waiting, 5 months later, for them to contact me to resolve the matter fully.
Foolishly perhaps, I bought the Pearl National deal from Groupon after this. I made my appointment with Pearl National without a problem, but I turned up today for my appointment and their clinic was closed! Role on another battle with Groupon who, in my opinion, are nothing better than fraudsters and thieves.0 -
I also bought this offer on Groupon, and absolutely no problem booking my appointment for today, at 2pm, but I arrived at Portergate in Sheffield to find a Man sat at the reception desk to the building and nothing else. He informed me that Pearl National weren't there today and that they had told him they had cancelled all appointments with the clients today. Well I have not had any phone calls or emails from them to say they had cancelled and I'm not very happy that I had drove all the way there and paid for parking to be turned away. I have emailed them, but after reading this thread I hold little hope of getting a response. I will be ringing them on Monday though, how convenient that they don't open their call centre on weekends.0

Just to show those of you what you can expect when you complain that the service was poor and results did not happen
...
heres what I had to say :
Dear Sir / Madam
Please accept this as a letter of complaint .
I recently undertook your laser whitening in Leeds and have to write to convey my sheer disspointment in both the service and the results.
Having had my previous appointment cancelled just the day before (even though it had been booked 4 weeks in advance as that was all that was available) I arrived to be told to sit in a hallway alongside two others. The representative assured us that she had 'clients' with her right now but wouldn't be long. Right then I was wary as I believed to be a client too. Fifteen minutes late we were taken into an office room that had three beds. The representative apologized that the printer was not working and gave us a disclaimer to share / read. We then were asked to sign an A4 pad (surely this is not lawful????)
After a quick briefing we were taken to our beds and the treatment was applied. The whole thing was very rushed and whilst we lay there the girls chatted loudly and were in fits of laughter over stories of previous clients and their experiences. On completion of the three ten minute sessions I was passed a bowl and a glass of water, given a mirror and moved on.
At that point I could see there was little improvement which is surprising as my teeth have taken very well to whitening in the past using home treatment - a couple of years ago now. I know how white my teeth can go and after a day or two my teeth have no re-hydrated and are back to the same color. I spent £69 on this treatment, made several calls to get the appointment and feel that it has all been a total waste of time not to mention a total pain. I am now left with teeth that are no whiter but too sensitive to try the home kits or to use a proper company with qualified beauticians.
I am very disappointed in the service and results and would like to know your views.
I can only guess your representative did not use the correct amount of solution.... and i would not be surprised as they were having supplier problems
having spoken to the other 'clients' who were there on the same day it appears I am not the only one complaining about your company, how its run and the results
sincerely
and heres the reps response
Firstly I would like to apologise for your experience of Pearl National. Since we put the vouchers on Groupon our business has increased dramatically and we are continuing to iron out any creases we may have with this new found volume of clients.
Head Office is based in Doncaster and had we’d have known the printer in Leeds was not working we would have stopped business immediately for copies as correctly this is not lawful how you had to sign. This is a miscommunication on our part and apologise you were amongst this.
Our technicians are all fully trained and the company as a whole treats over 750 clients per week and from these figures complaints are few and far between. Acting upon the complaints we have received, we have recently released our area manager who is based in Nottingham from performing treatments so she is free to move around all our clinics providing them with any feedback and retraining if necessary; ensuring they maintain professionalism throughout their working day with us as this is key in this industry.
We welcome any feedback positive or negative as this helps us improve our service and would like to take this time to thank you for taking time out to do so.0 -
of course i had more to say that that! So here we go again
Just to help you understand my disappointment i should like to refer to the promise i read when i bought this groupon voucher :
Laser Teeth Whitening and Consultation for £69 at Pearl National (Value £350)
Laser whitening was initially devised so out-of-work Christmas lights had something to do for the rest of the year but turned teeth green and red with a sparkle. Elude teething problems with today's deal: £69 instead of £350 for a laser teeth whitening treatment at Pearl National.
Lighting smiles from London to Leeds and other cities across the land, Pearl National are masters of their trade. Shining their LED lights on to their customers' gnashers, aiming to transform mellow-yellows into headlight-whites, Pearl National measure the results of their treatments on a dental shade guide to illustrate how many grades customers' teeth have changed by. They also offer other treatments, including facial line softening injections, chemical peels, permanent makeup, and Christmas light recruitment.
Groupon holders can take a teeth whitening consultation at Pearl National, where the in-house tooth fairies will assess how individuals' teeth will benefit from the treatment. Once teeth have passed the test, they can sit back and enjoy the needle-free, non-invasive laser whitening procedure. The whole treatment takes roughly an hour, and customers will be given an aftercare guide, to help maximise the power of their flashy beam.
i did not receive the treatment i was promised for the following reasons :
No dental shade guide
No assessment just a very impersonal chat alongside 3 strangers (clients) and two other 'technicians' with a disclosure sheet to share...this took approx 4 mins at most
No one passes or fails as there was no test
Nothing to enjoy about the treatment - noisy giggly girls laughing about previous customers
No flashy beam
No aftercare guide - unless you mean a sheet that said what not to eat / drink for 24 hours
Practically thrown out the door
I notice that on the Nottingham site the same thing is advertised but it states that its worth £200...so why was Leeds worth £350.
The advertisement above does appear to be the same treatment i underwent. There was absolutely nothing professional about the business and i really do not think the treatment i received was even viable.
I hope to hear more from you in reference to a full refund
and THE RESPONSE :
We can only apologise for no dental shade guide etc. This is not worthy of a refund and full retrain of all our staff in the Leeds Clinic has been noted.
Additional whitening sessions and the use of ancillary whitening systems may be required to obtain desired results.
For any concerns you may have with any advertising you need to take that up with Groupon.
I am also struggling to remember any deal on Nottingham valued at £200 are you sure it was this company?
USELESS COMPANY ! WASTE OF MONEY UNLESS YOUR TEETH ARE BADLY STAINED YOU WONT GET MUCH IMPROVEMENT! MY TEETH ARE THE SAME COLOR --- ADMITTEDLY THEY ARE NOT A TERRIBLE COLOUR BUT THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE THE WHITE THEY ADVERTISE!0 -
Just to correct a couple of points in their reply, it is illegal for anyone other than a dentist to assess or prescribe tooth whitening treatment. There is no legal or certified way of training a beautician to do tooth whitening. The signing of disclaimers is legal nonsense as by even assessing they have broken the law. As mentioned before suppliers of whitening solutions have been warned not to supply to non dentists by trading standards. I wish you luck in a refund but think you will be lucky to get one from people with a hazy grasp of the law.0

I have had a very similar experience with Pear Nation. I bought my voucher on 17/08/11 & after struggling to contact the company for several days, I eventually made an appointment 06/09/11.
Having taken the day of work to be able to attend the appointment on the 6th, I then received a text message 45 minutes prior to the start time to advice that my appointment had been cancelled.
Again, after struggling to contact the company for a couple of days, I finally managed to speak to someone who re-booked my appointment Saturday 24th September.
I attended this appointment; however after waiting for 40 minutes outside a locked building, I finally admitted defeat.
I have spent the weekend trying to contact Pearl Nation but the contact number I have for them is constantly busy. I did get through once, but after spending 15 minutes on hold, I got through to an answer phone that was full and would not take any more messages!!!
Having read all the post here, I decided to ring Groupon direct earlier today. As soon as I mentioned Pearl Nation, the lady I was through to respond with “says no more”!!!
She was very helpful and direct (she did let me explain my complaint) and she immediately offered me an apology and a full cash refund (she did not even attempt to offer me credit or try and put me off). I have already had confirmation of this.
Although I would not recommend Pearl Nation at to anyone, I have been using Groupon for over 18 months. I have taken them up on lots of offers and this is the only one that has been problematic.0 -
