  • Reading this is quite worrying, I bought 2 vouchers a while ago and my appointment is planned for 28th Oct. I had no problem in contacting them and originally made and changed the appointment for another date.
It's my first dealing with Groupon, so do I go aheah or do I try and get my money back?

Phone up groupon tell them you've read this thread and as others have done ask for your money back.

Alternatively go ahead if you are happy for someone unqualified to do something illegal to one of the most sensitive and delicate parts of your body . But please read this first http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf
  • Anyone who has a voucher, my advice is to cancel!! Wish I'd taken heed of comments on here.

I purchased voucher & rang Pearl on 19th Sept to make an apt which was booked in for today at 12pm. I took day off work as did my son who I'd purchased voucher for.

Just as we were leaving house to travel to Newcastle I got a text to say the appointment was cancelled. This was less than an hour & half before our appointment. I'd rang them twice this week to ensure the appointment was going ahead & explained about taking a day off work. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement!!

Fair enough I got a refund but its not really the point. When I rang Pearl I got some !!!!-n-bull story about being let down by a delivery & being a new company. My reply was they change delivery company & they shouldn't book appointments in that they can't fulfill!

    SCAM!!! BEWARE!!!!

Should point out again trading standards are cracking down on suppliers who supply whitening products to non dentists. As it is illegal practice of dentistry they will obviously have big difficulties in getting legitimate supplies of whitening gels etc. This will continue to be a problem for illegal whiteners as trading standards visit more and more suppliers.
  • Booked an appointment for teeth whitening through groupon tomorrow, this morning had a text saying do not attend the appointment tomorrow and gave a phone number to rebook. Mad as have taken a day off work and everything! Will be contacting groupon and seeing what they can do! grrrr
  • There's no reason for me to go into detail about my story since its not very different for others that I have read. I am in Leeds, and I purchased two Pearl Nation teeth whitening vouchers through Groupon (for my husband and I) and three months and three cancellations later I am sitting at my computer reading story upon story that mimic my own. The first thing I am going to do is go to actionfraud (dot) (org) (dot) (uk) and begin what I think is needed. I'd like to see all of the others follow my lead because it will not end here. I am going to meet up with a friend of mine that is a reporter at the Yorkshire Post; he doesn't do these kind of stories, but will introduce me to the appropriate person and the investigation will likely begin there. I've had a really great result by going to the Yorkshire Post - they are professional, accurate, and very quick. My personal story was on the front page of the Evening Post two days after contacting them.
I encourage all people that read this to move forward and do more than just complain on a website. However, these complaints have made me grateful because I now know that I am not alone - injustice is painful, but it's excruciating when you're fighting a battle on your own. Groupon is responsible for this since the offer was through their company, but Pearl Nation is actually committing the fraud. I need to investigate this area of law and decide what action can be taken and against whom.(?)
  • I think it may also be possible that Pearl National is the same company as Proteeth who currently have a deal running on KGBDeals. The addresses of every 'clinic' nationwide are the same for both companies. I had 2 appoinments cancelled by Pearl before getting my money back, at least I've not ended up with burnt gums.
  • I bought 2 Groupon Vouchers for Teeth Whitening by Pearl National Leeds for myself and my fiancee in August for our wedding next Saturday. This company are a complete disgrace and they just compulsively lie. I have recieved a text - always after 5pm the day before our appointment telling us not to attend - 4 consecutive times now, week after week.
I have made complaint after complaint and gone through their customer services team and it still happened. Groupon have been great and have offered me credits if I have no joy but something needs to be done about this horrid company. I cant believe its happened to so many others. Their website is a joke - all these testimonials which are clearly completely made up and theyve also marked the status of our vouchers as used already.

I could have had my treatment elsewhere but now its too late - it was for our Wedding for god sake which I made them fully aware of and they promised us they wouldnt do it again but they did - the week before our wedding day.
I want to report them but who to???? Im totally furious and upset

PS Are Groupon credits like pound for pound???

They are providing a service which is illegal. It is illegal to assess someone for toothwhitening, illegal to do the whitening and illegal to purchase for toothwhitening peroxide products over 0.1% if you are not a dentist.

If you have been harmed by illegal whitening see a dentist, take photographs and contact the gdc http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf

They have successfully prosecuted illegal whitening companies.

If you suspect peroxide products are being used contact trading standards and publicise so no one else is harmed.

Do not trust the most delicate and sensitive parts of your body to unknown chemicals and illegal , unqualified staff that may cause permanent damage.
  • I booked in August for teeth whitening with pearl nation (Leeds) though groupon and everytime i get an appointment they cancel by text on the day. After the fourth attempt i
got a refund from groupon and it took 7 days for a reply. I found a local company called smile nation based in a beautiful salon in Leeds city centre and even though it was £30 more i was very impressed with the friendly service and my teeth are now seven shades lighter. My teeth are a little sensitive and desensitizer was used at no extra cost.
